Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Couldn't agree more, Bill. That's the main reason I am thankful for the BOI. I have done many deals in the past and only recently discovered the BOI. Reading the many inquiries I have seen has stopped me from making some dismal deals. I'm glad for a site where the good guys get as much notice as the bad guys.

One more question, Steven. You said that you don't allow pickup because your afraid of being stolen from. I, too, have that concern. That is why, if someone wants to drive the distance to pick up an animal from me, I will meet them somewhere locally for the transaction. People put more faith in a deal when they can see the purchase before handing over the money. So I guess I would have to ask why don't you offer something like that for customers if you are a straight dealer? Seems you try to make yourself happier than the customer. BAD BUSINESS!!!

This is all speculation but I get the feeling that Steven or Stephen is nothing more then a school boy who wants to come across as a high end type breeder.This crap about him being afraid of people coming to pick something up at his house because of someone stealing his prizes. DUDE B.S your just afraid that people will see that you are full of it. Actually guys, I don't meet strangers where I live and I don't sell out of my home unless we've done business previously.

Once you've been ripped off you learn caution. And, of course, trust is not something I give easily.

He MIGHT be on the level about this particular aspect.

Ok Wes I'll give that one to you :raspberry Ive never been robbed at my house. I would perfer that everybody came to pick up what they buy,I Hate shipping companys. But you do have a point

I once knew this old guy who used to sell used pc's out of his garage. You could walk right up and he'd be sitting there smiling, fixing something. His cash box was always full and out in plain sight. I asked him one day when picking up a printer if he was nuts leaving his cash box out. I told him times have changed. He laughed and pointed to a gun that was out in plain sight. I turned to look at it. It was just laying there on the step of a ladder leaning against the wall. It was much closer to me than it was to him. So then I laughed, and turned around to face him. I was going to say it would be better if it were actually on him. He already had his pistol out and said "that guns not for me son, its for the guy who comes here to rob me".

Hey I'm not too embarrassed to say I thought he was challenging me to a duel and I nearly crapped my pants. :)

But I agree with Wes in that caution should always be exercised. I had careless regard for my own safety and paid the dear price of being stabbed 4 times. I was such the fool that I allowed two men to enter a store I was managing just prior to opening because as my assailants claimed, "we just need two dozen crickets, thats all". When I closed and locked the door behind me it was all over.

My real loss wasnt that I could never return to the position and store where I was attacked, or the money that was lost as a result. It wasnt even the loss of sleep, or the fear that kept me confined to only being social with people I knew fairly well. The real loss was the lesson I learned. I would like to believe as I did then that these things just never happen, but they do. Unearned trust can get you killed.
 
I'm sorry that happened to you, Chuck. Somewhat of a stiff reminder as to what type of people there really are out there. I would wish that upon nobody. I'm glad you came through it and are here today. I read alot of your posts as well as a select few others and I know you are one of the good guys. Thanks.

Yes, but he said he would not meet anyone anywhere. Not just at his house. The reason given was that someone did not show up once.
 
Over the years I've had plenty of people not show up when they said they would and I've told myself many times that I would no longer sell any way other than by delivery.

I still make my occasional sales at a McDonalds or mall or what have you.

I think on this PARTICULAR aspect of his stories we should cut him some slack.

But it is AWFULLY fishy otherwise.

OK...Hopefully I won't get flamed :flamethr: for posting this, but I have read through this thread carefully, and feel that I need to add my 0.02.
Please keep in mind that I know nothing about BP's, so please excuse my ignorance in that matter. I don't have many posts on this site, as I concentrate more on Cornsnakes.com. I have found the BOI to be very informative (entertaining at times too!! :hehe: )and has helped in decision making more than once.
I have purchased cornsnakes from Steven in the past (1.1 Normal and 1.1 Ghost). The Normals were purchased from Reptibid while his user name was SlitherinSteve (I think). The ghosts were purchased after seeing them posted here. Both transactions went off without a hitch (the normals were purchased before he accepted paypal, and he shipped them to me before my check even cleared the bank). The ghosts are absolutely beautiful. Both pairs can be seen on my website. I don't know if we are allowed to post pics here or not.
The only problem I had was when the normals were shipped (last winter), the heatpack arrived ice cold. Thankfully the snakes, although a little cool, were OK and are none the worse for wear. I made Steven aware of this, and he did contact me several times to check on them.
Now, I am in no way making excuses for ANY of his statements or his postings, but he DID apologize. He has answered questions without 'getting an attitude' or 'flying off the handle' as I have seen many times on this forum.
We have ALL been newbies at one time. And, while I don't condone lying or misrepresenting animals, HONEST mistakes can be made. If mistakes ARE made, it is important that the person own up to them and not dig himself deeper.
As we are all aware, I think it was said earlier in this thread, reputation when selling on-line is EVERYTHING. I just hate to see someone ruined over what might possibly be misunderstanding or mistake??

It's good to hear from someone who was satisfied with this guy. It does go a long way in a positive direction to speak up as you have done.

Post pics when and where you want to, most of us like to see them.

IF this is just newbie boo boos then all will be well for this guy. However, if he's just gotten started at Scammer U then he will be in for a rude awakening.

Let's see some proof to back up your statements OR let's see you tell us the truth. It's your reputation stephen, what's it worth to you?
