    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I still havent had one person bring up a good point about anything mentioned on here. Is common sense missing from your thought processes. I agree with the person who said he expects to see what he is buying!

I think it is ridiculous to think somebody should send several hundred dollars for animals that a seller is not willing to photograph!! As we all know, what makes a higher-end animal versus a lower-end (besides its' health and rarity), is its appearance. If a seller is not willing to send you photographs to your satisfaction (within reason of course), then I strongly recommend doing business with somebody else. Even if the business/individual is reputable, you set yourself up for disapointment if you do not see what you are paying a lot of money for, not to mention the commitment of caring for the animal throughout its life. Anybody that says that they do not have time to photograph their animals for the customer, I feel, is lacking a basic service that should be expected by the customer.
Another example of somebody to be weary of is somebody who states they have locality animals but is not willing to tell you who the animals came from or how they know that the animals are locality animals. They want you to trust them at face value when you don't even know them! And if they become defensive at your questioning, shop elsewhere!
Also, if you hear about animals showing up dead once, it could have been an accident, but it is worthy of being cautious. If you hear it from more than one source and it is unrelated, beware! If an animal has shown up ON TIME (so as not to confuse with a mistake from a shipping company) and smells, that is carelessness on the person who packaged the animal and is animal cruelty.
Whether a person/company is a wholesalesaler, retailer or peronal hobbyist, we ALL have the responsibility to protect the animals we are taking care of as this should always be our #1 responsibility.

If I would have known you were going to send a refund for the sick/dying turtle I purchased from you to replace one of the other sick/dying turtles you sent me I could have told you about the change, and i wouldnt have had to find this out the hard way.

But maybe Finding out about the (deposit) this way was for the best, since your into publicly posting just a little too much banking Info.

Better Buisiness practices should be on your todo list.

As was mentioned much earlier in this thread, people must realize that if they're buying wholesale for wholesale prices, you will not get the perks you should expect when paying retail. The wholesale business requires too much inventory moving out too quickly to make it feasible to take photographs of each individual animal.
Also, if you hear about animals showing up dead once, it could have been an accident, but it is worthy of being cautious. If you hear it from more than one source and it is unrelated, beware!

Again, I believe it's more accurate to look at percentages. If a private breeder sends out 2 packages a week, and within 6 months has 2 animals arrive DOA, I'd take a hard look at that....that's almost a 5% mortality rate. If a wholesaler sends out 50 packages a day, and within 6 months has 2 arrive DOA, that's a pretty damn good percentage.

The bottom line is that each person should look at the WHOLE picture when entering into a transaction.
 
The simple fact that people who order wholesale see more reptiles in a month than most private keepers see in a year is totally lost on the private keeper. This is not said to denegrate the private keeper, but just to point out that they simply don't understand how wholesaling works.

Now, there are good and bad wholesalers which is another bag of slithers entirely.

But, I must agree with Ms. Terese on this one. If you're buying bulk, wholesale reptiles, there is NOT the same standard you get with a private breeder/keeper.

If I'm selling a large number of snakes or lizards to someone I do NOT provide individual pics, especially if it's at wholesale prices. I also do not guarentee the same length of time at wholesale prices as I do at retail.

If I'm selling one or two, or a half dozen even, to a private party, at retail, then they get individual pics and I spend more time with them on questions and husbandry help.

I think this standard is one that is generally accepted but rarely spoken; at least by more experianced herpers or those that are in reptiles for the money and not just as pets.
 
Thats why most wholesalers do not sell small amounts. Or they have a minimum that your everyday person isn't going to meet. Xtreme and the other wholesalers are giving people a chance and you see what happens in return. Looks like this is going to be a dead horse thread.

You want pics and all that you might consider a private breeder and expect private breeder prices. Thats the best way to explain it.
