    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have seen that as I frequent that forum. I must say I do have Melissa Kaplan's book and she has helped me, I have read a lot of threads about her but tend to make my own judgements. I have many iguana books and pick and choose what is right for me and mine.
I am more interested in seeing what KS does regarding this matter on their forum. I personally find this quite amusing, and was wondering when it would hit here, less than 24 hours.:)

That's just what I was thinking. What's worse is that I still don't fully understand what he was trying to accomplish by doing that. Am I missing something which is painfully obvious to everyone else?

It is probably just someone trying to cause trouble like always, but it is pretty funny. Everyone on there is ripping the person who posted it to shreads. I just thought people would be interested in seeing it since there has been so much talk on here lately about kingsnake. The webslave said you couldn't post any mention of faunaclassifieds on kingsnake.com. What happened? It probably get deleted soon.

This is what I want to see, if KS really does boot someone off for just mentioning this forum. I have heard about it but never seen it. Seeing is believing. It will be a slight blow to me because I do frequent their forums.
 
Thank you for the heads up Tony, while the original poster may have caused a great number of problems in the re-post of text from this website and his methods were far from ideal, it did in some measure at least get the concept out that some of KS's moderators are of questionable credibility and that Jeff may not be the most reasonable of human beings.

I did personally take the oppurtunity to post my own thoughts on Kaplan which, while negative are at least rational and thought out. I'll be interested to see if anyone on there can "Rip (ME to shreds", I doubt it but you never know I suppose.

For those who might be interested, my KS login name is M_surinamensis (And the name I use in IRC chats incidentally) and I do sign my KS posts, few though there may be, with my name and e-mail address. If anyone wishes to respond to my posting there or via e-mail, I welcome whatever thoughts you might have, even those I may disagree with.

that really was a well thought post on KS. I did not know that, and will try to check out what you have said. It sounds tho- like you have done your homework. Still she has helped me and that is what I care about, I am, however, glad you brought this to light as I will think twice when looking there for my other animals. As I say, I take more than ones info and adjust it to what I think is right.
So far, the thread there is still on.... can someone point out to me where I can look where it says that Fauna is not to be mentioned on KS???

there is NO place on kingsnake that will tell you this site is taboo. However, mention of this site will get your post deleted and could POSSIBLY get your posting priviledges removed as well. How serious Jeff is about banning those who make mention of this site, I am not 100% sure of yet.

Seamus, I have to agree man, VERY well thought out post. AND you did what the topic starter did not, actually put references to poor/lacking/wrong information. Most of the bad things are not regarding her iguana care(of course there are behavioural things I disagree with wholeheartedly), however, those looking for care information on other species will find some very questionable and downright wrong information on her site.

And YES, I will agree with Melissa Kaplan 100% in that reptiles are very difficult if not impossible to keep in captivity...IF you follow her information 100%. Like most information given over the web, you have to take hers with a grain of salt. I have always been a fan of BOOKS. Does anyone read those anymore? Those thick paper things that are often used as drink coasters in today's society. I will gladly take the time to read through James Hatfield's MASSIVE and EXCELLENT Iguana book instead of hunting the internet for the quick fix info website. I will also learn through contact with others who HAVE experience in the animal I am keeping/wanting to keep. On the internet, ANYONE can be a reptile expert. For that matter, I could be an automotive expert and give all kinds of advice and I don't know JACK about cars.

Oh well, sorry to rant. But just for the sake of saying so, isn't this more for the general discussion forum than the BOI?

I sure hope they don't ban people just for the mention of this site, as I just mentioned it. I thought the worse that would happen is my post would disapear and maybe I'd get a nasty gram from a moderater. I do use KS a lot, but I don't sell, so no big deal to me. I can always just re-register with another e-mail addy and screen name. As mentioned above, there is little or no accountability there.

What does rather tick me off is someone pasting Web Slaves post there and it appears that person is NOT Web Slave. I just can't see Rich suddenly hiding behind a screen name, he's no coward like me and my screen name!! (JM stands for JustMe!) I sure hope Rich doesn't mind being embroiled in all of this mess again, as whoever that was has certainly dumped him right in the middle. Surely you don't have enough MeloDrama in your life right now, right Rich!!
 
It does say on top of the iguana forum that it is for information....."Anything considered off topic or advertising will be edited" with that I am sure they can toss G-moneys post on "check this out" so they have reason there because it is off topic.
I wonder tho- if it is on the topic and Fauna is mentioned if it would still be tossed. If it does so much for feedom of speech.

I NEVER use a book as a coaster

They make much better shims than coasters!! LOL!! I bought a dog training book last month that I read a decided sucked, now I use it under the corner of my big tank to balance the low spot in the carpet!!

Just here to tell you that those messages are off, all who mentioned Fauna, and Seamus' post, which if memory serves me correctly, he did not even mention this forum.
Some definite food for thought. I guess you guys were right! I need to rethink KS, this is sad because I like some of the people on there.:(

As I said, the supression of information on KS is amazing and I can only guess the number of bad deals that have taken place because of Jeff's decision to keep people from information!

This to me has made it VERY clear that Jeff doesn't care if the people have the correct information, if they make the right choices or anything else. He will protect his site, self, friends and so on at ANY cost!

People should know how bad that information is. My father taught me VERY young to never gain from other peoples misery. I can't speak on anybody elses parents but I have no idea why somebody would choose to run their site in a way that causes animals to possible die and people to loose money and suffer while making a profit!

That is truely pathetic!

Well I might be the next to get kicked off because I told KS I was disappointed in them. Don't know. I was going to write more in my post there but too many things running at once and was just upset by it all. Well you guys really have to get your forums going for people to go when they say a no-no on KS. I am now willing to assist if you need any help.
 
I was VERY careful not to mention MS. Kaplan or the BOI, and my post was deleted right along with the rest. How's that for censorship?

Anyone that thinks speach is free in KS is deluding himself. You can post whatever you want so long as you do not go against the ownership grain. Ownership has that right, but you need to know about how things go ahead of time.
