In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Yvonne Carpenter - Boas By Satyra

I agree with most of your points that when it comes to buying animals, we don't usually quiz the seller on their personal credit history. However...the part I quoted here...you make it sound like you think she had a RIGHT to spread LIES and accuse a supposed friend of thievery just because someone else accused her of not repaying money? In what universe is that ok to do? :shrug01:

How do we know she's lying? It's impossible to tell. She posted a picture as proof. We don't know for sure. I'm not saying it's okay to spread lies but with the photograph it's something we have to take into consideration. If she had just outright said 'oh you stole my snake' with no photo I would concede that it is indeed a lie and wouldn't have said a word about that fact. I've seen other proof as well, proof that I saw long before any of this on Fauna started. Like I said it's impossible to tell if it's legitimate, just like it's impossible to know for sure that the carpet damage wasn't there before the fact. Pictures just can't tell the whole story unfortunately :(

I am giving both parties the benefit of the doubt in this situation because of that fact. I'm sorry if it came off as supporting lying to cover ones butt, I just saw providing her own proof of wrong doing as evidence toward why she's been avoiding said person, as something almost anyone else would do.

And wouldn't this thread be wrong as well if we go by your point? This post is in retaliation to that picture that was up for an hour to get the person hasseling her off her back.

This is Fauna Classifieds...Not Reptile Classifieds...

Complaints were made about the mess of their rabbits, theft of feeder rodents and attempts to slander the OP's name with accusations of reptile theft. This post is fully justified here on the BOI. If you think otherwise you obviously didn't read the thread.

Clearly, if the accusations are true, these people are deadbeats. Do you really want to entrust your animals or money with a person who would steal from a close friend?

Wow, so you think she has the right to LIE? Nice.

-sigh- No I don't think it's right to lie, you people are accusing this person without knowing or even taking into consideration that something like that COULD have happened. We can't know for sure. The photograph is evidence it has a right to be seen as such. It's not like she just came out and said 'well she stole my snake' she provided proof even if we can't be sure of it's validity. Stop jumping down my throat for considering it can be true.

How do we know that carpet damage wasn't done after the fact? How do we know it wasn't already like that? It's the same concept.

Benefit of the doubt.

I think the photo is a bunch of horse hockey. What kind of person takes a photo of a snake in a bin at the place they're staying at...and then says it was stolen? How does that make any sense? Did anyone check the EXIF data on the photo?

Let's just kick that thought right out the window. This belongs here, because it's an experience with someone. What doesn't belong here is the obvious forum war that's going on. It's looking like people are coming here just to continue the bickering that started elsewhere. Keep that where it originated, please, unless it's someone who was directly involved in what happened with the money owed and the home damages. All this third party stuff (you speaking for the other party in this) is not what this forum is about. The accused obviously doesn't feel that responding to this is worth her time, so what are we supposed to believe?

I for one am grateful for the information, because I don't hesitate a bit to put deadbeats on my do not do business with list. There are entirely too many people out there with integrity to waste time or money on people who don't. I don't even care about the damage (though that's pretty crappy to not even offer to help fix it), owing money and making no attempt to settle is all I need to make a decision. You make an agreement, you stick to it.

I agree it's nice to know how someone conducts business elsewhere, in order to get a better feel for how they may do reptile related business.

However, and I hate to say it, unless you had a lease, you may be SOL. I hope not.
Gone are the days when business could be done on a handshake with most folks.

Sakara has spent thousands of dollars on her snake collection. There's no reason why she'd buy a $1500+ paradox albino boa and steal a jungle boa but be stupid enough to leave it IN the rack with all her other snakes WHILE Yvonne lived there.

No one can be that stupid. So you're right. It's a bunch of crap.

I'm sorry.. but HOW would you open a bin to take a picture of YOUR snake in a rack, in the place you are LIVING in, then claim it's "stolen"? Were both arms broken? Wait, no, she sure operated the camera just fine. I'll bet she took the pic when her animals were legitimately in the house and just popped up with the picture now.

She owes bill money, damages and YOU are taking her side on the "proof" of a picture of her snake in a rack that's within a foot of her. Unless you want to now claim that she was somehow restrained from removing her animal at the time of the picture taking, I'd like ot know how that picture proves the animal is stolen.

I guarentee if my animal was sitting right there and I was able to take a picture, I could pick up the animal.

Sounds to me like you joined here just to try defending your friend, unless of course, you ARE Yvonne. With all the posted email and IM messages vs a picture that isn't even here, I know which side seems to have proven their case better.

I've seen judges award more on less evidence. Good luck at court. I hope you get the money owed you.

As far as whether it's appropriate to post it here.. she's in the reptile business, she stole reptile food, the damages were from racks and animals. If you are fine with doing business with theives and people who stab their friends in the back, more power to you. It just means another person on my "Do not deal with" list in the end.

Major case of "Well, he's never scammed ME yet..." IMO.

I understand the conflict on if it's "BOI material" or not... But the way I see it is, she is trying to slander my name by saying I stole, which I didn't... Why would I? It's a $300 boa that, IMO, isn't even close to a stature of jungle I'd buy if I were to want one... No offense to the animal, it's nice, but if I were to want a jungle boa, I would want a high expression jungle boa and I would be willing to pay that price for it...

and I did post about her on the local Texas forum because I felt that my friends would like to know about this and not fund her when she is trying to make money to buy more animals that she can't afford in the first place when she hasn't even paid me back...

No, their animals weren't in disgusting conditions here... At least not the snakes... They had some poo left in cages for a few days sometimes, but they weren't living in piles of crap or rotting rodents or anything...

The rats stunk to high heaven and it took several days of cleaning and candles and good smelling spray to get that stink out of my house... The bedding was left in there for a while at times and left to smell...

With feeders... When they lived here, if they needed to borrow a feeder or something and asked, I had no problem with that... But about a month before they left they had gotten a like... $350ish dollar order from Big Cheese to split with us... We paid our half to them and divided the rats when they got home from picking them up... Yvonne always wrote her name on her feeders so that we didn't get them mixed up... But when they left, almost all of the feeders from my share of the rodents were gone...

In Texas, a verbal agreement is a legal contract... Not to mention we had talked about it through messenger before they moved in AND I can get copies of the previous checks since Nov.'s first bill payment that states SPECIFICALLY for "Bill Money" with "xxx" amount for the bills each month... And we considered the last day they were obligated to pay anything was the day before they signed their new lease at their new place... So she is welcome to show us a copy of the date she moved in to their trailer since I can't remember off the top of my head what the date was... and we didn't even ask for bills for the last little bit they were here for like the 6ish days of June or so... Just the full months they were here... Which they owed for March and April... I guess it was mid May they moved out and we hadn't asked for any May payment... I had to look back at the text for which months they owed for... But again... In Texas, a verbal agreement is a legal contract... And yes, there have been court cases won on a LOT less proof than I have...

And the carpet damage... I stated earlier that they moved in not even a couple weeks after we bought and moved into the house... The house was brand new and I have the inspection report stating there was no carpet damage in any of those areas before they moved in... and I also know I have pics of their animals IN that room with the damage somewhere... I'd just have to find them in my mess of pictures...

The other issue I have is that they are not only not paying us back for what they owe, but they are constantly buying more animals to add to their collection, but can't afford new caging for their larger animals that need it and always complained about not being able to afford larger cages and even feeders... So in that sense, they are not caring for their animals properly, because they see buying more animals more important than properly caring for the ones they already have... But that's for each person to individually decide for themselves, right? I can also tell you that, as many of you know, they are trying to breed several pair of snakes this year... If they can't afford to pay me back or buy cages and complain about being able to afford feeders for the ones they have now, how are they going to properly care for several litters?

I don't see them not paying me back as being a "can they afford it" issue though... I see it as they don't want to, or are simply choosing not to, which is obvious by her statement of "You would ignore her too if she stole your snake"... And I think the "stolen snake" is just an excuse to NOT pay us so that they don't have to take responsibility for monies owed... That's the only reason I can think that they would do that... Which, to me, shows malicious intent to NOT pay us at all... But I didn't know about this at the time of whenever they took that pic, so we thought nothing of it when they asked if it was OK to be a little late on payment for bills so that they would be able to afford a few things for their new place... But obviously I was wrong even based off of their previous good record of paying us for bills...

Is she claiming that you still have it, or that you had it until she found it in the cage and she took it back?

apparently that it was in my bin while they were here I guess... Cause they were in my snake room obviously while they were still living here to take the pic... Because they gave us our garage door opener when they left, so they couldn't have gotten in the house after they moved out unless I let them in...

Perhaps I am having a mentally slow day. She took this picture of a snake that she claims that you stole, in your bin. Is she saying that you still have it, or that she got it back, but she isn't paying you because you stole it in the first place. If you "stole it" and she took it back out of your tub and put it in hers, one would think that she would confront you about it while living there. I just want to know if she is saying you have it, or if she is saying it is back in her possession.

Well I deff. don't have that snake, lol... And she deff. posts new pics OF THAT SNAKE on other forums... But apparently she is saying that she's not paying me because I "stole a snake that she took back from my bin"... And I agree... If someone took something from me, I would say something about it... At least ask and say, "oh hey, I found... blah blah... what's up with this?" But no... She never said anything about this and never posted about this until in the thread... Hence me believing that it's an excuse to not have to pay us... I can't think of any other reason... And I didn't even know where that animal was housed in their bin/rack system...

Ok, so she has the snake. So what she has on you is that she took pictures of snakes in your rack. Good stuff.

I couldn't give you a reason *shrug*

I didn't pose the question for you as I wouldn't expect you to know that answer. The question was really directed at Yvonne but since she is not commenting here, it was to address another hole in her story about you "stealing her snake". LOL..

Sorry you have to go through this I know what it's like to be completely taken advantage of in this type of situation. It's happen to me a couple of times with room mates and as I won't go into it because this thread is about things that happen to me. But I will say that I completely understand how violated you must feel.

Also about the no lease thing that doesn't matter as long as someone resides at the residence for an amount of time(not sure how long differs in each state). As long as you have her checks that is good enough to show that they were tenants in your house and not just guests on vacation for a week. I could be wrong due to the differences in state laws but I don't think I am to far off.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks Chaz... and I think Texas is 90 days? and you are a "resident" of where you are staying... I will have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it's 90 days... and they were deff. here for at least... 7 months...

Your very welcome!!!
That's what I thought I just wasn't sure on the exact time frame but that sounds right. I think it's even less time here in Los Angeles but it might also be 90 days.
Again good luck and so sorry you have to go through this!
