• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Bad Guy Crestieman - Robert Shays Reptiles

This is pretty sad, things were looking up and I thought this guy was going to grow up and take responsibility, but it seems he is not willing to do that. In my opinion, this industry/hobby doesn't need people like him operating anyways.... I hope this gets him to stop selling all together.

Sorry you had to go through this Katie. I've been in the situation with a much bigger breeder who was willing to throw her reputation down the drain for a relatively small amount of money. Its sad and frustrating. I know how you feel.
 
Thanks Brian. It is frustrating. I've posted this link on my Facebook, and plan to get it out there. It may be just $40 to me, but who knows what he'll do next, and until he decides to man up and fix this, I'll be spreading the word about this issue.
 
I noticed on his Facebook page that a lot of us from here and on Pangea have him listed as a FRIEND :rofl: Kinda silly now isn't it.....
 
LOL! Guess he'll lose quite a bit from this then. He should really take that into consideration. And again, he's viewing this thread but won't speak up, or even message me. Robert, going to come to your senses any time soon?
 
As I said on my FB page regarding this, there is nothing more important in this business than your name and reputation. NOTHING!!
 
I just took the time to read this whole thread. I hadn't noticed it before. The reason being is Robert just reported Katie to us for harassment.

Robert, you asked her to contact you and agreed to pay her. How is her contact harassing considering you asked for her to contact you openly or privately on this site to resolve the situation?

That's just a dang shame. I really hoped, after what seemed to be a sincere apology, that Robert would change his ways, make things right, and be able to rebuild his reptuation. He was given the chance to do so, and apparently has chosen not to do so. What happened?!?

I don't know. When I read where he stated he didn't offer a free gecko and the screen shot of him doing so was posted, I had my doubts to his character.

When I read that he stated that he advertised a probable female and called Katie a liar for stating he advertised a female not a probable when screen shot proof was posted, He justified my original perception.

When Katie posted all the screen shots and evidence in this case and was meet by "I could post some screen shots as well" and didn't, I know for sure he was being deceitful and had no evidence to support what he was stating.

When he offered his apology he admitted to misrepresenting the animal but that wasn't all. With that admission, it also verifies that he falsely accused Katie here of lying about their conversations. With all that it is hard to believe that he would keep his word about anything.

Hey Robert, I don't know if I would call the simple comments about working this out as harassment.

Maybe you could make the case that it was harassment if someone went down the lists of 537 family and friends on facebook and sent links to this thread or something like that but I don't know if I would bring that kind of attention to myself claiming harassment when you admit you were being untruthful in this thread. Sure wouldn't look good for you. I don't understand why anyone would trade a good name for $40. Seems just silly.
 
Thanks Dennis. Yeah, I guess I'll learn from this. I don't get why he thinks $40 is worth it, but whatever. I'll just spread the word about his business practices and the way he treats his customers.

Oh, well, sux to be him if he gets a perma-ban.

I have to give Matt all the credit in the world for running a clean/scammer-free forum.

We don't need that at Pangea or anywhere else in the trade.

Since he'd said he was making it right in early May he wasn't banned from Pangea Trade but he is now per the rules there, since he's falling back on crying harassment and has gone MIA after saying he'd make it right. Katie, if this gets "fixed" to your satisfaction - or at least the promised compromise - please make sure me or one of the other mods over there knows.

It's a shame when someone with potential digs a grave so deep over something so petty. Such an easy thing to fix!
