Hubby of Snake Chick
We came into the ball python collection hobby just recently. One of the first people we dealt with was Blaine Willard, Unlimited Feeders. He advertised a het clown female weighing 1000grams with paperwork. After several back and forth discussions, we agreed on the price of $400. When we received the snake, we initially were excited because it was one of the first large snakes we had received. Blaine emailed us and asked us if we got the snake and i told him yes, shes awesome. My daughter, Kristen Overton, who is also into this hobby, immediately spotted a problem. For one, it looked like a granite. She asked to probe the snake. It probed out as a male. I then weighed the snake and it was 747grams. At this point, the 1000gram female het clown was a 747gram male, possibly a granite.
We contacted Blaine immediately and he acted confused and apologetic. He would get back with us. After a couple of days, he talked to my husband. He felt horrible and wanted to make it right. Problem was, his work schedule was demanding and he'd have to get back with us. Several days later he sent a note saying that he thought it over and he wasn't going to give us our refund even though we offered to cover shipping costs. His reasoning was that he knew what he sent and he wasn't going to change it. The male "granite" snake immediately locked with one of our normal females. As a matter of fact, Blaine told us that he had put this snake with a male and never got a lock. Probably because he was a male!! We took pics of the lock between the snakes to Blaine and he never responded.
We decided to file a claim with paypal and they decided that they didn't have enough information to pursue it. I'm sure that people filing claims about snakes is rare on paypal and we have no hard feelings against paypal for their decision.
But now it is our turn to say what we need to say. I have bought several snakes off this site and not had one problem. We've actually felt like these people were honest and willing to help out beyond the buying process and into the ends and outs of the snake hobby. Jaime Gomez Jr, Morph Evolution and Joe Capone to name a few of the wonderful people we have come across. Thank you for being honest and fair as we came pretty novice to this hobby.
I believe that Blaine Willard knows what he's done and would rather keep the money than make it right. That is no way to do business. If someone has a legitimate concern over a purchase, you should try your best to make it right. He basically accused us of not wanting the snake and saying that he knew what he sold us. We know what he sold to us-747 gram possible granite male snake. I know what I was told I was getting-1000 gram het clown female.
Because of this incident I advise anyone who runs across Blaine Willard to be cautious. Not only did he sell us the wrong snake but ended up being rude and obnoxious.
Just so everyone knows, Grant our 747 g male Granite has been locking up with a couple of our girls. We've taken him in like a lost puppy because it's not his fault his previous owner was slightly moronic at probing, right?
Thanks,
Tommy and Cristi Gross
