Isn't it time to lock this thread?
Just because you disagree with someone does not make you right or give you the right to publicly say negative things about them
A dog is not a family no matter matter how you feel, when you get back to reality it is a dog. They did not want their dog eaten and they did have them separated so I do not know why you people keep saying they weren't. the dog got out of his cage and ran to the front yard where the snake was. Do i think that was the best thing to take pictures of?, no. Would I have taken pictures?, no. Is it their right to take pictures of that moment if they want for whatever reason?, yes. Is it wrong?, no. Just because you disagree with someone does not make you right or give you the right to publicly say negative things about them and their family I'm actually pretty sure it is illegal to attempt to tarnish ones image just for the sake of doing it. The politicians are going to try to make the rest of these snakes illegal no matter what and will look for any excuse or any story to help their cause And with two children being killed by from an african rock I doubt this one dog, however you fell about dogs, will make much difference. Plus african rocks are already on the list so I really do not see how the humane society and the usfs are trying to use that story to get the others put on. My point this story will not have an effect it will come down to if enough people will show opposition to that which they have not yet. It will not come to these people ACCIDENTALLY having their dog killed not to mention the main angle for the snakes getting put on the list is for them being an invasive species which would mean they would have to naturally flourish where this law is going to be passed and kill other species in the process not because a little dog got of his cage and was sadly eaten by the owners snake. All of you n here trying to sound high and mighty should be ashamed, acting like you have never made a mistake in your life and had some regret. Lastly for you people who are so stuck on the fact they posted a picture of their dog accidentally getting eaten, not fed on purpose, which is legal to do just because you are so biased towards dogs does not change the fact of what happened and to put in perspective when guys in afghanistan and have their boys get hit they take pictures or videos all the time so they can remember that moment forever and those are human beings not a dog oh and also just so you don't try to add this is your argument, plenty of those pictures are on public sites just like the ones where this dog was posted.
The dog was not in any cage. The dog was, supposedly, in the back yard while the retic was in the front yard. The dog, supposedly, slipped the fence and met the retic on the porch. Their father/father-in-law supposedly simply watched this happen and did not care to alert anyone.
These people posted numerous photos of this dog with its face right near the retic's face or just in general close proximity to it. People pleaded and begged with them to not let that puppy near the retic and they simply did not care. They said that the dog was around the retic all of the time and the retic would not eat the dog.
Then the dog was eaten. Then they posted it on Facebook.
This is not about making a singular mistake. Perhaps if you could get your head out of the sand and let logic dictate the actions of your fingers prior to allowing them to type out more ridiculous chastising on this thread you could see that the issue is far greater than that.
This is about patterns of behavior.
When you have keepers with a history of irresponsible behavior which leads up to an incident like this, the community needs to be informed and the community needs to be aware to not let these people buy animals from them. These people clearly cannot control an animal that can be dangerous in the incorrect hands and, therefore, should not own it. Period. Your failure to understand this shows your bias, not "ours".
These kind of "accidents" should not be tolerated as the situation could just grow much worse in the future. These kind of "accidents" are exactly why we are fighting new legislation nearly every dang week to keep our animals and people like you and people like them just make it all too easy for lobbyists to point there fingers and go "See! This is what will happen!"
Now, I will, for my own amusement, address your asinine argument about tarnishing a person's reputation. Nothing that has been stated here has been falsified. They are the ones who chose to post what they did in groups on Facebook, they are the ones who chose to not heed warnings to keep that puppy away from the python. They are the ones who were negligent, reckless and constantly displaying a willful ignorance in the care, keeping and understanding of their animals. This is not tarnishing, it is not slander, it is not libel, it is informing people of the facts.
No one made claims of this being illegal or of their "rights" to be able to take a photo and post it on Facebook. It is about their stupidity, their refusal to learn, their refusal to accept advice and their willful participation in inaccurate husbandry, inaccurate security and inaccurate vigilance. They were negligent, pure and simple.
This thread is not about my belief of what a dog is or is not. It is not about anyone's belief of what a dog is or is not. You are the one dead set on keeping it to that topic.
Perhaps the best reply ever written on Fauna.you care to try try again retard? it was not a chihuahua I am pretty sure that got eaten second it was not a puppy that was a old photo with the puppy you are further proving your ignorance on this subject and seriously the guy comparing children to dogs, go kill yourself
Goodbye, Ben.
