Bad Guy Update on the boa I purchased from Carlos Rojas

I didn't post these pictures and receipts because of the wanna be snake experts (HA OMG) on here. I posted them so anyone who wants to check out Carlos can now do it with confidence. The people I've had to deal with on this boi are an excellent example of why this forum isn't worth while anymore. Instead of having this forum for what it is meant for, you fine folks allow people to get on here who obviously have no idea what they are talking about and spew. I could have and would have posted these things a couple of days ago but I allowed myself to get caught up in rants of a few lowlifes one of which needs serious mental health care...(they do have health insurance at McDonalds don't they Chris) See...even I can be a prick just like Chris. When you attack someone because you don't agree with them you open yourself up to whatever you get in return. I had a genuine reason to post here. Posting ignorant remarks like "did I think I was a rock start because I went on vacation" had nothing to do with anything. Chris seemed upset or jealous that we had went on vacation so I responded with the same nasty vindictiveness that he has showed me since this began. If I hadn't left Carlos a glowing reference which, Carlos asked me to do specifically the day the snake arrived, I would have had no reason to come back here and update. The snake I got from Carlos is gorgeous, a real beauty, with or without mites. I have never said it wasn't and as a matter of fact I said that to Carlos even after the mite problem and said it here in one of my posts.. But the snake was sent to me with an infestation which could have caused something more serious in my collection then what it has. An infested snake is a sick snake and tat is what I believe. I paid for the snake, for the shipping, for all of the cleaning products, so I have gained nothing from all of this. This will be my last post and I will not be reading anymore of the mindless uneducated comments that some of you have left. My advice to the people running this mess is to clean it up and listen when people have a complaint instead of allowing the circus freaks to run amuck. And my collection of snakes are very very well taken care of. This is the first mite problem I have ever had so to those of you who believe and say that mites come with the territory really need to raise your standards. My wife made a mistake, but you guys don't even care that you are passing this around.

It will remain here for a loooong time. For the record, I haven't seen anyone blaming your wife for making a mistake except you. If you knew your wife had no experience, you should have left an empty cage with instructions. Take responsibility.

Judging by the scarce amount shown in the picture I'm still in complete disbelief these came from shipping. "Infestation" and you show two pics displaying three mites total? Wow what a drama queen.

I would have an easier time believing that a guy with the lack of care that is shown in the failure to quarantine his stuff, found mites and jumped to the conclusion it came from the new animal. This conclusion was easier to grasp than his own "infested" animals shared their parasites with the new snake arrival.

Off-topic aside, Dan blaming his wife for her "mistake"? She posted here 10 freaking years ago under Dan's account ... saying how much she loved this site, posting the URL of a likely long-defunct "katysbabies" website they were building. Yeah, I don't think she's a stranger to snake husbandry.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting. In post 29 Dan said "she didn't know not to do that because she never does anything with the snakes". Wonder why Dan hates liars so much.

Yet you posted both your initial review and update here. In addition, you've used this site for many years as a seller.

An infested snake is a sick snake

Leaving aside for the moment that many might disagree, the pictures you have posted do not show an 'infested' snake; if you claim that this was a picture of a treated critter, where are the original pictures? Surely after your initial glowing review you do not expect readers to take your word, if a snake was as 'infested' as you claim, even a cursory examination would show evidence of mites.
In fact, you said in post 17 I believe that it was 17 days before you noticed mites, and given that you failed to quarantine, you cannot prove where those mites originated.

Generally when people say this, it is not true. Their very need for drama which leads them to make such a proclamation, makes them return for more, usually the next day.
I'm hoping though after the discourtesy and vindictiveness you have shown our members here (and which future buyers/sellers might well take note of in choosing whether to deal with you) that you will indeed not return for more of the same. This is a business forum and while serious business reviews are welcome, petty name calling reflects more on the person doing it than anyone else.

You aren't an expert in this hobby... do you even have a snake? What you are is a trouble making person who has nothing better to do with his time then butt in to serious situations that don't concern you.

This is now a 'classic'. I've had similar aimed at me, and seen it with increasing frequency aimed at others, usually penned by those who are unable to discuss the actual issues and so then attempt to divert attention from their lack of facts with an ad hominem attack.

The BOI is a participatory forum, opinion and peer pressure are important in its success. Just as jurors need not have technical experience qualifications to serve, so readers here from varied backgrounds can provide valuable insights in a thread. Many times, it is reader insight and questions that pave the path to understanding a particular transaction.

I suggest you read up on the explanation of the BOI provided by this site and what the definition of "peer pressure" is.

The site still functions as it is supposed to, whether or not people agree with it is another thing up for debate not within this thread.

You are the one who made yourself look like a fool (or your wife was, I do not know, I only half paid attention after a certain point). Peer pressure may have led you to it, but you ultimately made the decision to lower yourself to the level of the "freaks" you disdain.

You may have gotten mites from Carlos. You did not quarantine though, so it is impossible to ascertain. If they did come from him, it is not okay (and not a minor deal like some claim), but, like I said, it cannot be proven so instead of just laying out what you had on this thread for people to make their own determination you had a melt down and showed your rear end for the majority of it. Public opinion, because of that, will be against you.

Walk away from the keyboard and just let it go at this point. If Carlos sent you mites he screwed up and he should be re-evaluating and taking measures to do preventative treatment of everything just in case. He should also not go to a pet store to box an animal up. You need to learn how to quarantine and also that preemptively treating for mites when receiving animals is not a bad idea.

But I will reiterate, learn to quarantine. All of this could have gone so much differently had you done what you are supposed to do when bringing a new animal in.

And the reason I know they came from Carlos was because there weren't any here before that. I was telling a couple of DR's at the hospital today at work about the mite thing being such a minor concern on this site. They said I should be glad that a few of you stated that fact on there because just like you said to me, all comments are permanent here. So now when you try and sell, people can see your lax attitude. I logged in and showed some of my coworkers some of the comments. The consensus was that a lot of you who have posted on here must have sold infested snakes before otherwise you wouldn't have been so quick to defend such a thing. Like my boss said, simple things please simple minds and you guys sound like you have, at maximum, an 80 I q which I found hilarious. As far as the RACIST comment they really laughed for the idiot who called me that. When I said I would drop by the ghetto, I was talking about Fauna. You guys really are stupid.

I don't completely agree with the attitude some people have taken toward you, but you are making it really hard to be sympathetic with the continuous insults and immature personal attacks. You could very well be in the right here, but your attitude alone is hurting your cause more than anything.

How many of your colleagues have any experience whatsoever with reptiles? I guarantee your coworkers would not have a shot at defending you here. Perhaps you could have them sign up. As far as you calling Laura an idiot, she far surpasses your IQ. I guarantee it. But I digress, braincell. In your correspondence with Carlos, you said "I will order the right stuff myself, I I should have to begin with". The ONLY rational statement you've made here. You also said "I've got the crap all my collection now". YOUR FAULT! Not carlos' or your wife's fault. Then you said "I'm sorry I bought your snake". Does that mean its for sale? You should have no problem getting rid of that "amazing", "quite the looker", "outstanding" boa. Mark the price up to recover the PAM cost. Right on Sarah. With regard to the transaction, I don't believe either party was in the wrong. Nobody anticipates or wants mites in their collection, or to be part of their transaction.This thread seemed malicious from the get go. No one really knows where the mites actually came from. Carlos spewed zero venom here while Dan accused him FALSELY of selling sick and diseased snakes. Quite the contrary. His snake was, as Dan said, "outstanding", "amazing", "quite the looker" etc. I would gladly buy from Carlos but would never deal with Dan in any way, shape or form. He hung his cap on a can of PAM. Hope it was worth it.
