In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Beware Seth Williams "saint221"

Yep, ups will take geckos. I see no reason the package should have been returned other than he picked 2 day now overnight priority.
Ditto. Sometimes however the folks working at the counter aren't cognizant of all of the company policies, especially if they've never personally handled a live animal shipment. I encounter that a lot when shipping firearms.

OP goes from already having enclosure/s (prior to inquiry/purchase) to having had to buy enclosure/s (and other items for enclosure/s) due to her expectation of getting geckos from Seth Williams.
Goes from paying $70 to needing it back, immediately, to pay for her car or she will lose the car.
Expected seller to pay for shipping.
Appears to be irrational, subject to poor decisions, etc.

Seller seems "iffy" on what he stated re. shipping.
Planned on shipping 2 day rather than overnight!
Is also "procrastinating" on sending the OP a refund.
Who knows if he will send the refund. Money that he should have since the OP sent it to him.

Unless there is more, I believe, at this point, that I will just avoid doing business with both the OP and S. Williams.

....

Yes to everything you said. They're both shady.

It's funny how when Seth didn't send the geckos and requested more money that the OP's car had to be paid or she'd lose her job. How the heck was she going to afford having the geckos in the first place if she couldn't afford the payment for the car?

And Seth should have returned the money by now.

But that being said; Apparently the OP could take the time to email all those pictures but couldn't post them for herself? Which means she didn't want to hear that she was in the wrong in this situation as well.

Both parties need to grow up and learn to deal with things as an adult, or they're never going to make it in life.

That shenanigan about the car payment is downright embarrassing. I bet Rich will get one of those requests to remove this thread as soon as she reads the thread this morning ( she is checking in on the site)

Personally, I do not believe the package was ever shipped via any service. He said he was going to use SYR in post #40, then inexplicably went with 2 day UPS instead?? Never sent the buyer a tracking number, either, in spite of saying he would send the shipping info later since he was at work when that was discussed.

I feel more compassion for the buyer after reading those texts.

I don't feel any compassion for either at this point. She went on the classics I need my money back or this this and this is going to happen when she was more than happy to drive there and pick them up. If she knew her boyfriend was getting a new job, how did she not know when he was going to start? And they could have scheduled another day for pick up.

On the other hand Seth should have sent the money back by now. His stalling and no reply from him doesn't look good at this point. He needs to come explain himself.

Chiming in on this thread. I was supposed to meet saint221 locally to sell him a gecko. I told him if he had trouble finding the place to pm me on here. I sat there for half an hour, on my phone and fauna the whole time, as I'd said I would, and never once was contacted. He has yet to contact me again. Our meeting was to be last Friday (8/28/2015).

If he had time to set up this deal, he had time to contact me and tell me the deal was off or he was delayed or something or other. Obviously I can't tell you if he ever had the money, but he totally dropped communication on me and wasted a good bit of time and gas on my part.

If you guys want me to post PM's I will. I am a member in good standing and, while I am oft quiet on the BOI, I am happy to back up anything I say.

When he first contacted me, the gecko he wanted was on hold. He "jokingly" encouraged me to tell the person who had it on hold that it had died so I could sell it to him instead. Dealing with saint221 / Seth Williams has left a pretty bad taste in my mouth, and I never even ended up talking to him in person.

All this BOI taught me is that Seth Williams is a very patient seller who will bend over backwards to make it convenient for the purchaser. To have to download an app he's never used just to accept the payment in a way to save her 10$ is going out of his way as it is already. Why would the assumption be that he is going to pay the shipping? It looks scammier (that is so not a word...) on the buyers side then it does on the seller!

Thanks for posting the pics Jet76!

And one who ships illegally lol, you cannot ship UPS. That says a lot about him just by that.

My local UPS counter said that they only handle snakes as of July. That page on UPS says different. Perhaps it's a situation of your mileage may vary depending on who you get at the counter? Or perhaps a very new policy update?

To my knowledge UPS will ship reptiles(geckos etc) but not snakes
USPS will not ship snakes
That only leaves Fedex(whether its spr or repex) for live snakes

I already posted screen shots from their website that proves it's not illegal to ship geckos. 2 day shipping is irresponsible and can lead to dead animals, but shipping certain animals through ups is allowed.

I'm not going to read the thread but scence the opportunity was presented I will defend my self 70 was the deal if they were to come down and pick them up did not happen you want the money 25% non refundable youndont pay your shipping you don't get the animals super simple I'm not giving anything away for free I already did that when you were getting them both for 70 just because you have bills coming up does not mean you get to bone me sorry the animals are still here and I even gave you my shipping discount 26$ try and beat it but that ship has saled

.
There are other issues, that could be addressed, but, for now, I will address two.

1. Unless you have a TOS that is available for public viewing (which it appears you do not), which states that there is a 25% non-refundable fee, OR unless you told the customer, prior to payment, that there is a non-refundable fee you are not entitled to keep 25% of the customer's payment. You must refund in full.

2. Live animals should always be shipped via overnight shipping (next day delivery). Never ship any live animals via 2 day or longer!

1) Just send the money back and be done with the person.I can"t stand dealing with customers like that either.
2) Take a punctuation class ASAP!;)

Defending yourself would be a whole lot easier if you returned the money. Your one and only post here isn't doing your defense any justice.

:iagree: And to add another: You type as if you are a teenager. Even your text messages look as though an underage person wrote them. If you want to do any business in the real world, then you need to learn to speak and write like an adult.

Refund the OP all her money and be done with this transaction. You're only succeeding in making yourself look bad as well by only responding once, and then saying that she's not entitled to a full refund due to some stupid thing about non-refundable deposit; which you can't prove that you told her about or even have a TOS for. It would just be in your best interest to give a full refund and walk away instead of doing what you said.

Yes! I agree with all this. I was finding myself more sympathetic toward Seth in this circumstance until his adolescent posting. There still is an unanswered question of where the $70 is. Seth, you felt it was appropriate to keep her money because she changed her mind? (Albeit for odd reasons).

I have been so thrilled to be a part of this site. As I'm now buying and selling online this boi has been a priceless resource for me. Thanks so much.

Aren't the "non refundable deposits" for payment plans or to hold the animal? They paid in full up front, I don't see how a deposit applies here. Maybe someone else can clarify for me. I know some breeders have a percentage they keep for a restocking fee but that's when the animal was actually sent out and returned, nothing took place here from what I can see, and as everyone else's says no TOS. In my opinion he needs to refund the entire amount.

You are correct, for the most part. If he wanted, he could say; "Well I did have other people interested in these geckos, so because I held them for this person to come pick up I missed out on a sale. So I am going to keep 25% of the money she paid for the geckos, but never took possession of, because I missed on selling them for the same amount or more."

In this case it would just be the smart move to give all the money back and move on with things. He's causing more damage than it's worth over $17.50 (if he wants to get technical.) As I see it, it's a dumb move.
