In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Reptster.com experience with show sponsorship not good

Not at all Donna. Fedex certification is free and takes about two weeks to attain. You may not get quite the discount David is touting but you can negotiate it as has already been pointed out. If that is your only issue it is very easy to fix.

Plus you will only pay for the actual weight of the box.
I have paid for 5 pounds several times thru Reptster only to see that Fed Ex changed the weight when they got the package to 2 or 3 pounds. That means the automatic calculation and payment to Reptster was more than what Fed Ex eventually billed them.
It may be irrelevent to some and probably wasn't a big difference but that little glitch got on my nerves. Also the double charging if you clicked the shipping label a second time (it NEVER printed right) was annoying.

I also see your point but I just think it's silly and not fair for the honest seller of herps that they might be subject to a boycott for trying to sell their animals and maybe save a few bucks on shipping.

Your avatar did make me giggle though, I couldn't help myself. :D
I don't think anyone should be boycotted if they still choose to use Reptster in a pinch.

I just think that using your own account (even if it is a little more) has always had less glitches and I would rather deal with Fed Ex personally than David if there is an issue since he has given the impression that he does not care what we think. He seems to care less about what I think since I post on the BOI so how could I feel comfortable having him as the go between with Fed Ex and myself.

Forgive me if I've missed something -- but where is the proof that David agreed to the $750 sponsorship? I'm not seeing it and the last few emails from Kelly the amounts are marked out - not that it really matters since he never responded to them but it would be nice to know what she thought he had agreed to. If we are going to label him with names shouldn't we at least have one piece of solid evidence?

I'm sorry, I know that this forum tends to throw their support behind the "wronged" person -- and I'd love to jump on the BOI bandwagon but I'm really not seeing any solid proof - where is the contract - I'm not seeing anything from David agreeing to any set amount. And really there were so many red flags with this transaction I still don't get how someone would just move forward without a written contract and/or deposit.

And I'm not defending David by any stretch -- he should do that himself if he chooses -- but I get where he is coming from that he doesn't feel the need. I like many others would have loved to see his side of the story and any proof that he might have to support his side -- and I would have hoped that he used a little more tact. But it is what it is. He could be a creep for backing out of the show -- he could have told her he only wanted to do the $250 sponsorship. We will just never know.

And so I'm back here reading this thread and when all is said and done it's just another he said she said situation.

I think a boycott based solely on what little was presented it ridiculous. Show me the proof so I can jump on the bandwagon as well. :D

It wasn't the amount of money for the sponsorship that upset people.
It was the attitude he had for the people that post on the BOI that got everyone upset.

Are our egos really that fragile? If we were to boycott every breeder that was a dick then we'd have no one to buy from. :ack2:

I tend to agree, and I think many of the posters are upset more by the fact that he is "blowing off the BOI" so to speak, and that he posted those pointless fake emails, than anything else.

David says he talked to Kelly on the phone a few times. If it's true, all he has to do is post the phone records and her credibility would be shot. I sure as heck would post them, if I were in his situation. For now I am still kind of up in the air on this one... I would love to hear from more people here that have actually had dealings with him, and if any more come up that are negative that might make me lean one way. And I mean more than David deciding not to buy an animal (if I started a thread on every person that did that to me I would be on the BOI several times a week posting bad guy threads!).

Post #205 shows the original e-mails as they were forwarded to Dennis, and they have the $750 quoted.

I've been quietly following this thread and find myself saddened by the whole thing on many different levels. David...you may think you don't owe anyone an explanation....and maybe you're even right. But sometimes, it's more important to be willing to see things from others' points of views than it is to be "right". In the end, you're likely to find yourself feeling very righteous and "right" about this whole thing....but you'll have burned so many bridges along the way....is it really worth it???

(And before anyone wonders if I'm saying David is right about anything in this matter....all I'm saying is that almost anyone who stands firm on a point believes they are right, or they wouldn't be standing so stubbornly.)

If you where to look back thru this thread, you will see that in the first posts done that the amounts in all places but one where "X" out. This was done because we really did not feel that in was relevant at the time. It was missed on the one email. Kelly stated this mistake on her part early in this thread. If you would like to see any or all or the orignal email in full we are more than will to directly email them to you. Please provid you email address if you are intersted in seeing them and we will get them right out to you. Dennis Hultman has also verified the validity of the last two emails sent to Mr. Young early in this thread.

Agreed. the fact that he IGNORED Kelly, instead of addressing her, be it here or in private is what matters. He hasnt. And apprantly wont. And seems to think of this as some sort of Joke. Its an insult to all of us who gave him the benefit of a doubt.

So yes, people of this site took offense. we have high standards. If others see it differently, you are MORE than welcome to those feelings.

There are plenty of others out there that are decent to people.
Why give money and help support someone who insults you?

Or they know themselves to be so completely in the wrong that they decide the best defense is any strong offense they can come up with.

Fed Ex certification takes 2 weeks as a best-case scenario, anyhow. That's if everything goes off smoothly without a hitch. Which it might not. Getting a rep, talking to the rep, and then trying to negotiate a discount isn't exact a quick and easy process. It's not only an unknown amount of time, it's a lot of stress I really didn't need. I have never shipped anything directly via Fed Ex and don't even know how to use their system yet.

If my discount is less, then my customers pay more, and that kind of sucks. I really, REALLY wanted all of this to come out right in the end, because it hardly seems fair that this should happen at this stage. I'm sure I'm not the only one upset over it.

I can tell you that it took me less than two weeks to get certified. It cost me no money, and I was able to talk to the rep, get things settled within mere days. EASY AS PIE, and really, quite stress free. ;) I would encourage you to give the process a try before getting upset about what may or may not occur in the process of getting certified. Also, I have an account with both, and my FedEx discount is bigger than what Reptster offers...........so it would probably do you and your customers good to just check it out and give it a whirl. ;)

Alicia -- I get that -- I am one of those that gave him the benefit of the doubt -- and as I said I thought his response lacked tact I didn't find it offensive -- certainly not to the lynching degree. :shrug01:

As far as what transpired over the phone lines between David and Kelly -- we will never know. I'd hesitate to call it FACT - it could just as easily have had several other angles to it -- She offers up the $250 sponsorship package jacks it up to $750 -- he could well have told her no thank you somewhere along the line and she could well have harassed him for months to get the $750. I'm not saying that is what happened - but my point is WE DON'T KNOW AND WE WONT KNOW - and that's the fact. It's her word against his. I would just prefer to have some solid proof of wrongdoing before lynching.

There are a lot of big breeders that show a definite like or dislike for other forums or services or breeders or whatever - it's part of the business - is it really character jarring if someone doesn't respect the BOI?
