David, I didn't intend to single out your response. I was only using it as an example. I've been guilty of having my feathers ruffled now and again I'm just saying we'd be better off without and unless people make a conscious decision to avoid such childish behavior nothing will change. I'm not blind, I saw how anthony approached it and I certainly don't agree with the method but I can see why he's frustrated as I can you but if one person starts something it doesn't mean you automatically have to escalate it by being the same way. I guess what it boils down to is that I wish there was a higher level of professionalism and mutual respect in our industry, I think it would serve us all well in too many ways to count.

What I think would be a compromise Rich could try out, if he's still trigger-shy on closing it down or shutting it off from non-paying members, is take off the mod that sticks the bold text for 'good guy' or 'bad guy' in a title of a thread, that way, people can actually READ the thread and not just pull up the title and move on, make a decision, and discount the person. People would be less upset over things said about them this way, thus lessening the compound-effect of likely lawsuits.

Also, this statistically reduces the chances: 1) a person would pursue a lawsuit/lawyer's advice; 2) actually follow through on a lawsuit. If emails are posted, and people are chiming in with their opinions, the avenues of defense a 'bad guy' has to file a lawsuit on Rich for "slander" or whatever other legal terms you want to use become slimmer and slimmer. It doesn't eliminate it completely, but I DO think that keeping to the strict rules (no third party quotes, full name disclosure, etc. etc.) is what has kept Rich above water legally thus far. According to him, no one has yet to follow through with a lawsuit because of the BOI, so chances are it's going to stay that way. The problem is Rich sees it as a ticking time bomb - someone will eventually follow through with lawsuit, and I don't see it that way. Obviously my opinion matters little, but I think this is the part where people should consider arguing that point [if they agree with it], otherwise Rich has no reason to keep the BOI afloat.

I am pretty new to this forum so I am not really sure of how much people do/don't read on here.
I can't imagine doing research on a person that I intend to buy or even sell to and not read a thread in its entirety. If I see a good guy or a bad guy title pertaining to the person I have an interest in, I am going to open that thread and read it to make my own conclusion.
I have purchased from people that have a bad guy title because I did read the thread and found I still wanted to do business with that person. I have not regretted any purchase or sale.
I just feel so much more secure having the BOI and all of it's information at my disposal. I don't like all the soap opera aspects, but if I have to take that in order to have the info I feel I need, I will take it.

I would really hate to see the BOI go away. It's been an amazing tool over the years and I should have contributed financially long ago. Now though it's to late for me. I do care about this site and the BOI but right now $25 is a lot money for me. I am unemployed (laid off thanks to our Governor), no money coming in since the unemployment system is so screwed up, and have exhausted my savings and checking just trying to pay my car payment, house payment and keep the animals I have left fed. So yes I care about the BOI and would be to see it go but that doesn't mean I (and possibly many others) have the funds to help save it.

i just became a contributor! i love the B.O.I.! IT IS DESPERATELY NEEDED! even with the mud slinging,it all shapes an opinion of who you are researching. I surely would have been robbed @ least 2 times & the B.O.I. saved me from dealing with shady people...

I'll be the first to admit that I was being a little ornery this morning. If my language or whatever offended anyone who's not an idiot, I'm sorry...but you need to get over it and hear me out. There's a more important issue here than the way Anthony Caponetto speaks to stupid people.

If you're still caught up wondering if I'm really such a jerk, yes...when people act like this, absolutely. But if I like you, I wouldn't think twice about giving you the shirt off my back. I'm Italian...we fight hard, but we love even harder. That's who I am, now let's move on.

I didn't come here looking for a fight...I came here to offer Rich my support and ideas. Of course, I got slammed for it because these people don't like hearing the truth (that they've ruined this forum). But I'm not the guy who's going to come on here and get pushed around, like other breeders usually do. And I'm not going to let them stop me from trying to save this thing before it's too late.

If I piss a few people off in the process, I can live with that. You say that might be bad for business, and maybe you're right...maybe someone would rather go spend their money with someone who wears a fake smile and blows smoke up their arse.

Still, the idea of that is not nearly as bad as a reptile industry where people are scared to buy from smaller breeders online. Of course people will continue to buy from me...I have a big website and a good reputation. I produce thousands of reptiles every year. I think I'll be OK. However, my customers are breeders too...and when they quit being able to sell their animals online because it's just too risky to buy online, then they won't have money to spend with me. It's the classic trickle down effect...and I think that will cost me more money in the long run, simple as that.

I have no doubt, that no matter how nice or polite I would have put anything I said, there would have been an attack on me because what I had to say is not what they want to hear. Each and every one of you know this is true, whether you agree with my approach or not.

Truth is, I really do enjoy getting these guys riled up. Every time, it's the same scenario. I start talking in very general terms about "the idiots" and then, without fail, the idiots come flocking like bugs to a bug zapper. They fall for it every single time. It's almost funny that I actually have to explain that I'm manipulating them into proving my point.

So now this nonsense is finally threatening to take away OUR Board of Inquiry! You've ALL lost your collective marbles if you think I'm going to sugar coat the truth, just so the very idiots who've caused the problem don't get offended.

If they get offended because I'm not polite to them, then good...screw 'em. That's the whole point. Children don't like getting spanked either, but sometimes that's the only way children can be reasoned with. No offense to children either...at least they have a legitimate excuse for acting like a child.

I know most people won't agree, but that's never stopped me from speaking my mind, so here's a final thought...

Maybe, just MAYBE, if more honest breeders and upstanding hobbyists would stand up for themselves and quit taking shit from these idiots, they would either learn to shut up, or take their BS elsewhere.

Actually, you spoke to everyone in the same manner from the start. You were looking for conflict from the beginning and unless you are an idiot you knew this as did most others. But you are correct, there is more important things here than how or what you have to say, period.

Sounds similar to something that I posted a while ago. I compared the likes of some to the cat and my posting the laser pointer and the ease in which I found to have others chase the dot. While I guess referring to someone as a cat could be considered insulting it is not as so as calling someone an idiot. But hey, if insulting others makes you feel better about yourself then I guess it's not my place to take the little pleasures from your life.
