    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Good Guy Will Still (chainkingwill) of Buffalo

I've known Will for a couple of years through the local herp society and he's a very knowledgeable herper - gives great talks on how to determine the sex of snakes. I recently bought a male piebald ball python from Will - actually in September. Will wanted to make sure the little guy had a few...

Three+ year old tiny little gal?

I got this little CBB normal female in 9/2008 (hatchedJuly 2008). She has a good appetite, doesn't refuse meals often, and has always had good body tone and good proportion... BUT she is only a tad over 2' long and probably 1.5 inches around. Is she just petite? I wonder if anyone has ever...

For Sale 3 Vision Plastics 221 cages, Western New York

I am replacing my cages, and have 3 gently used Vision 221s with underbelly 11x17 heat installed, for $115 each (or best offer), or $300 for all 3. These make great adult ball python or male adult boa cages. They have sliding tempered glass doors. Each cage has a 1/2" hole drilled in the back...

Good Guy Jacob Spaid / Mark Spaid / spaidsreptiles

Just picked up a great looking '10 male albino ball python from Jake Spaid from a KS ad. Wonderfully healthy looking animal, and Jake gave me lots of information about the lineage, even the doubtful parts (two possible fathers, so chance of being het). I would definitely do business with the...

Finally, post-shed photos of July Suri litter (pics)

Here they finally are, post shed.... except for #2, who just ate Saturday and hasn't shed yet. For comparison, go to http://flickr.com/photos/liquidleaf/sets/72157605990881380/ to see pre-shed photos a few days after the litter was born. They're pure Suris, from Ben Siegel parents. --------...

Tricks to get a neonate to feed?

I know I've seen tips on how to get non-feeder baby boas to eat, but I'm having no luck finding them now. Short of force feeding (which I don't want to do unless I have to as a last resort), what can I do to entice a baby boa who hasn't yet eaten to feed? First meal offering was a live pink...

It's a girl, and a girl, and a girl, and a girl, and a girl!

;) A friend helped me pop the 5 surinam babies that were born on July 3rd. ALL girls! Wow. Two have shed, two are opaque. Only one hasn't yet eaten, I'm starting to get worried about her. She was one of the larger babies. Post shed photos on most coming soon.... Now, I'll have to start...

Exactly on her due date - babies and PHOTOS

My suri, Foo, is in labor right now. :( Unfortunately all I can see are 3 slugs, though she's mounded up papers in one corner, so maybe there's a happy present there. She already struck the cage door, so I'll leave her be for a bit before checking. At least she is having *something* this year...

    Female Suri - live cam

So, my female 03 Surinam gave me a nice adventure last summer, tricking me into thinking she was gravid. I've been away from the forum for a while - life sometimes intrudes... She looks like she actually MIGHT be this time 'round - she's acting a lot differently, burrowing under the papers...

    Impromptu breeding

Long story short - I find myself suddenly in possession of a breeding pair of ball pythons. Now, my first pet snake, Ermy, is a ball python. However, after I got him, I got several boas (I've been trying to breed my adult Surinams, now for the second season, so fingers crossed)... but only...

    hide 'n' seek

So, Saturday morning I checked on my snakes, as I do every day or every other day. What a horrible sinking pit in my stomach when I realized that Warhol ('06 pos. super hypo male) was not in his cage, and the sliding door was pushed open just enough for him to have squeezed out. Plus, I live...

    Photo tampering in ads...

Ok. I'm not going to post this on the BOI because I'm not interested in purchasing this snake. However, I use Photoshop every day for my job, and couldn't help but double and triple-take when I saw this image on the KS classifieds: .. which appears here...

    Warhol goes outside (pics)

So, yesterday was fairly nice, though overcast, and I took Warhol, my '06 male possible super salmon/hypo, outside before it rained. He was produced by DM Exotics. He was especially dark yesterday - I love how velvety burgundy/purple he looks when he's in this phase. What do you think of his...

    "calico" hog island boa?

I just saw an ad on KS for a calico hog island boa. I've never heard of such a thing, wondering what exactly that means. There is a photo, but nothing that looks to me like something super different... but perhaps I'm missing something. Does this mean a cross of some kind? I haven't been on...

    new baby pic

The WNY Herp Society show and sale was this past Sunday, and I volunteered to run the raffle for the club, so got an eyeful of lovely reptiles all day long. I couldn't help but leave with one... Here's my newest snake, a CB '07 little girl from a small local breeder. Eventually she'll be...

Took Suri female out and about...

Since Foo, my Suri female, turned out not to be gravid this spring/summer, we started handling her more often (she was adopted last October but had been bred and showed signs of being gravid). It turns out that she has an outstanding personality, so we decided to take her to a demo at a local...
