    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Actually this is a change that was made on the server rather recently. Instead of having notification emails sent immediately for each incident of a subscribed thread being posted on, these now are processed in a batch mode. This is supposed to help reduce the loading on the server. I can't remember the exact date I made this change, but it is rather recent.....

Truth of the matter is that I am now looking at another server host anyway. It appears the slowness problems may actually be originating at the data center and not the loading on the server at all...

Actually, there was one other on 04/10 but there were no comments.

A total of 3 ever and in that time span, does not signal abuse to me.
 
I just normally get a "daily" notification, all at once, not every time there is a new post on a thread.

I will refrain from offering an opinion in this manner (at least for now*) in an attempt to remain (at least for now*) somewhat impartial.

As for Karma, I have a question, why is Karma points here? Are they for people to judge someone's post?
If they think it was bad, then they have the right to give them karma that they think fits the post, or good karma for that matter. But giving someone a bad karma once in over a month is not what I call an attack by any means.

The last couple years were kind of slow production wise because I was really distracted by taking care of my dad while he was sick, and then I had a lot of responsibility fall on me after he died. I'm more than making up for it this year though...in spite of my work schedule. ;) :D

Yeah, basically it's supposed to be a feedback system of what people think about your posts. But it appears to be used mostly as a spite laden weapon on this site by some members. I believe I may change it so that NO ONE can give anyone else negative karma, only positive karma, if appropriate. In other words, if you can't say something nice about someone's post, then don't say anything at all.

I'll think this over for a bit....

If doing away with the negative karma (which is already restricted to paid members), is there really a point in having positive karma? While I understand it is just a nicety, and a way of patting people on the back, it seems it would lose something if we couldn't smack them in the forehead now and again.
I wouldn't say that I give a lot of negative, but there are posts for which it is clearly indicated. In those cases I can make a click and move on. Without it, frankly, I would probably end up making my opinion known within the thread. At least this way, it is between me and the poster. Less clutter in the forum. I guess there are always PM's...but that is even more time consuming.

You really think you can repeatedly tell lies about people to try to hurt them and ignoring it when you get caught will make it go away?

I am going to say this once Ed. DO NOT EVER re-open a thread a Super Mod has closed. It matters not if it's one of your classifieds. We close threads for a reason and Rich is the only one that over turns our decisions.

He didn't exactly stop when he decided to "come back" either.

His return was followed immediately by a series of posts pointing out how much better he was than _______ now that he had stopped getting into fights about how much better he was than _______, who he used to get into arguments with all the time.

He is not subtle.
 
I guess I need to remind everyone that THIS is a warnable offense here:

Attack on a member outside of the BOI

If no one else is willing to enforce it, or those people engaging in this sort of thing refuse to cease and desist, then I certainly will enforce it, and those points will rack up rapidly. I will also enforce it from the day I made that as a warning. I am also not going to be shy about handing out three day passes to hang out elsewhere.

Consider this a "pre-warning" warning. And in case no one has noticed, THIS forum is NOT the BOI.
 
I have had a major transaction with Ed, and I know Ed to be a good guy. My personal opinion is that the war on Ed is an "eliminate my competition" thing brought on because Ed may have refused to lower his asking price on a nice snake for a certain individual or individuals here. This may have taken place well in the past, but now it is revenge time. Just my theory and opinion.

I think this is wrong as well Erin. Look at the dates of the warnings and who gave them in the following screen shot. I see 3 in one day by one mod and 2 in one day by another mod. I am not counting the Super mods, but the two (Bryon and Laura) other mods.
