In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am so so glad to find this thread. We (my wife and i ) have just received a large settlement and my birthday follows Christmas. We have been planning a trip to the next Dixie show to spend alot of money.. obviously I have changed my mind.I have also written down every dealer that has shown the same careless attitude as big daddy's. Are there any shows coming up that are reputable or should i just purchase from the few people that i normally do business with? I am just looking for a wider variety as i now have plenty of money to put into my long standing hobby. -Nicholas Landry

Go meet with a financial advisor first. At your age, that money could go a long way towards insuring your retirement. I just hate to see windfall money, particularly from a settlement, go towards something that has high risk vs a more sure thing such as TRUE investments.

I recently went to my first and last Dixie show. The selection and quality of animals there left a lot to be desired. If I were you, I would put the money away in something like a 6 month CD and then take it to the Daytona show.

One of the best suggestions I've heard lately.

He is currently selling on Kingsnake... "Priced to move"

He's also expanded his show tour.

He was at the Hamburg, PA show back in December.

That's a pretty good distance from Alabama.

Makes you wonder if he's having trouble moving his questionable stock. :shrug01:

I've talked to a few folks at the last couple Atlanta shows, seems hes not very welcome and a few of the opinions can't be repeated here without alot of bleeps.
A couple local folks told me his Wholesale building burned down and he moved his wholesale into the same building as high end breeders. I'm taking that as rumor with a damn strong possibility of being correct since I have no need or desire to drive to his house to prove it either way. I'm calling it a " rumor with a damn strong possibility of being correct " since the folks who told me have no reason to lie to me. That would be the 2nd building hes had burn down mysteriously in a year if true.

Can't really give an update on anything on my end except that thus far, the rest of my collection seems to be in good health. I just hope that I got the spider I got from him moved to a secluded location before he infected anything else. So fingers crossed that all the others are ok and I can stay in business with them.

Allen's Wholesale Buildings

from the know as fact list. allens wholesale shed burnt to the ground along with a very large number of animals, and the other half of the shed held his family's extras we all have. Allen replaced the building before he brought one wholesale animal. he has mixed his high end with his wholesale in the past. the only time i know of was when he first started in the pet shop he kept his high end in the back room of the pet shop, till a building could be built.
Jon I'm glad you have had no more problems. it was a scare for all. i was lax in my adding new animals as I'm sure we all have added one to quick.
and buying from shows and over the Internet will be more closely watch by over 30,000 people. and it shows the larger breeders that they have a higher standard to maintain.

Glad to hear everyone else looks good, Jon. Hopefully you stopped this in its tracks before anyone else got infected, and everyone will be just fine. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Well I merely commented to say MY experiences, and to remind all that there are several sides to a story. Was not my attention to "SLING MUD". I to have my own small reptile business and I often read several forums about several people. Several in which maybe that 30,000 that was spoken of here. So to close if there are so many people upset with Allen how do you intend on stopping is practices and care of animals?

I'm glad I read this post...what a harsh reality IBD is when you lose an animal to it. It horrifies me that someone in the business would knowingly still sell animals who've been at the least, exposed to IBD.
