I tried reading through everything, I got winded at the end. I apologize, I thought you hadn't shipped anything by the time you were told about all this? Were you informed that the snake was stolen before you decided to ship your end of the deal? If so, you are in the wrong. AS SOON as you heard the snake was stolen you should of totally help off on everything for as long as needed.
While this is a total bummer, I would personally still feel very inclined to return the snake to it's original owner. Maybe Richard would help you out with a little something down the road for being a good sport? Just a thought. We should always do the right thing, even if it hurts us personally a little bit.
And because nothing was done earlier and because I have to take one word over another after speaking to both parties I'm to blame? Be realistic, this could just open the door for other scams and stop the pet trade, he said she said. Maybe next time someone has a deal they regret they'll just say the animal was stolen! How simple is that? Maybe a BOI should've been posted from the start and I wouldn't be in this discussion!

I seen a few members beat me at replying back in regards to the answer of my question. I know you said you weren't selling it now but think you forgot to change your classified or maybe I'm reading it wrong. Is the Tiger your selling the same snake in question here?
I think he would rather keep Richard at a loss than himself ... even though he was the one that made the poor choice and exasperated the situation.
that's the bottom line. It sucks he was in that position from the start but things like this really define a person.Lucille, you make a valid point so I will not sell the tiger

...I honestly feel that the tiger is Richard's
I told Joe Rollo that I would send it back to the shipper and let them sort it out but he was adamant about me not sending it back, just send it to Richard!I tell you what being realistic is all about, there is no deal sweet enough that can entice a good guy to take a snake that has been labeled as stolen. You weren't "obligated" to do anything and very easily could have sent that snake back to the shipper. Just because there wasn't a BOI posted on this guy, doesn't absolve you from a moral obligation. Now you're that guy with questionable practices.
You can keep playing the "it was his word over his word" card, but you accepted a trade on a snake that was potentially stolen. But in reality, it looks like you ended up taking the shippers word over the guy that claimed it was stolen. So don't try to pull the wool over our eyes and act like you were stuck between two parties, because you did end up choosing a side.
That is not a positive practice of any good guy I have ever met ... and then you tried to move the snake after all this?
Quoting what Darren said here...
How was I to respond? There were no warnings or BOI's about this guy prior to this one. We agreed on a trade, he shipped first. I postponed as long as I could AND even offered Joe and Richard my cancellation of the trade and I'd ship the tiger back to Ohio to which they said no! I was not involved in that deal, I delayed my shipping as long as possible giving them time to come up with a solution but didn't. I felt compelled to hold up my end of the trade, I'm not judge and jury. Had there been a BOI then I never would have traded to begin with! And after "Paxton Cheng" called me he said Richard didn't realize he had 2 tigers, one was Richard's that he shipped back and one was his that he shipped to me. How do I argue that when I know no one involved on either side?
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. I was NEVER asked/told by Darren if he could ship the snake back to Richard. I thought he would've done that from our discussion since it was the logical and only right thing to do. You received a stolen snake. You were told by Richard and I that IN FACT THAT WAS THE SNAKE IN QUESTION BECAUSE IT MATCHES ALL OF OUR PICTURES. SAME SNAKE. PAXTON WAS LYING.
You already know he is a scammer and a liar. You already knew your dealing with him was shady EVEN BEFORE we spoke about this. And you knew you had a stolen snake and Paxton was the thief BEFORE you shipped back to him, and you did it anyway.
and now you were either going to sell the snake to 'get out of it', or keep it yourself until 'legal action' is taken? WOW. Just WOW.
We call have pics proving it is the same snake. What else does he need?
I told you this is a very tight knit community and we help each other... I can't believe you went about it this way.
There is no 'tough decision' when the decision is CLEARLY to either do the right thing, or help a scammer. I can't believe this is happening.
The ad is still up because some of us actually work! So I send the snake back to Richard and lose out completely yet it was Richard who made the bad trade and neglected to post anything and he walks away with his snake, Paxton walks away with my snakes and I'm left without anything minus 2 snakes! I saw Joe trying to trade for the snake why didn't you make him an offer he couldn't refuse and get the snake back for Richard?
