Ron, regardless of whether or not anyone knows how IBD is transmitted....the facts are there. The snake was purchased from Allen. The snake died from IBD. The snake was at one time, in his facility. The chance that other snakes could have been infected with IBD is very real, one thing we DO know for certain about IBD is that it is very contagious.
In what discussion I have had with Allen, he has appeared to be actively searching for someplace to do a large amount of testing on live specimens, as no place anywhere near him performs the liver biopsies. It's a step in the right direction at least, if followed through on. Will he be truthful with his results? Only time will tell. But until then, people NEED to know. You can practice the best quarantine procedures in the world, but since a snake is able to be an asymptomatic carrier for a very long time, if I had purchased a snake from Allen, I would reconsider taking a snake out of quarantine, even after an "accepted" time frame, without hearing some real answers here.
I believe Allen needs to step up and let people know where HE got the boas as well.
