• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

From searching that site spamcop is a service that you signup for that allows you to use their service keeping your original email account. But they add in the ability to filter out emails by ip address so they never make it to your inbox. So the sender is always blocked with a delivery error.

This part led me to believe that the OP will now be blocked from any person that uses spamcop, not just the seller. I'm not sure though:

Misreporting Spam.

Calling something spam when it is not spam is harmful. Erroneous reports cause abuse desks to take SpamCop reports less seriously; they also lead to the unjust and unfair suspension or termination of the reported account. SpamCop's maintainers and deputies must handle erroneously filed reports, which is not an effective use of SpamCop staff resources. Additionally, spam reports feed the SpamCop Blocking List (SCBL). Erroneous reports make the SCBL less accurate and potentially cause thousands of sites to mistakenly block wanted, solicited email. For these reasons, there are penalties for violating the rules that have been set forth here and in the Acceptable Use Policy.

That is correct. The OP's IP is now registered in the Spamcop data list of blocked IP addresses. Any person with Spamcop will auto block him.

Well thats like, nasty. Really nasty.
Anyone with a spamcop address or whatever that wants to contact him about buying/selling snakes wont be able to get emails from him.

Do you think the OP could contact Spamcop and get his address removed from the database?

IMO i wouldn't worry to much a bout it. How many people you really think are using spamcop. Chances are slim youll run into another Spamcop user and get blocked again.

True, but you never know. I would rather take the few minutes to fill out a report with them, in lieu of just brushing it off.

Missed shipping date because of a "family emergency"? Failure to refund immediately because they "just transferred the money to their bank account"?

These are straight out of The Handbook, are we really still giving the benefit of the doubt in cases like this? :)

I'm not sure if, in YEARS of lurking on the BOI, I've ever actually seen a "family emergency" pan out as legitimate... at least, not with a relatively unknown seller.

contact

Ok, I tried to contact the 515-490-6461 number and it looks like that belongs to a guy named Travis. It sounded like a personal voicemail (not a business)

The other number, 425-274-0657 - listed on the whois record for her domain is privacy protected which just means I get dumped into a general VM box.

I'll look into the spamcop issue and see if it "blanket" blocks me from any spamcop user. I believe you can set up blocking by email address - at least you can on yahoo. I'm guessing that is what she did. I use a yahoo account (jamesa2580@yahoo) specifically for my reptile stuff. Worst case - If I'm blocked from all users, I can use a different email address, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

I found her facebook page. I dont know if thats not supposed to be posted on here or not, but Ill post it once I get an okay from someone that knows the BOI a bit more than I do :)

interesting piece on this person. i was considering buying some cresties from her but now i'm not so sure. she didn't have a problem getting back to me on questions i had though. hopefully things aren't as bad as they seem.

I had a good transaction for the other snake (Pastel Yellow Belly) in that ad. I was going to suggest giving her the benefit of the doubt until I realized this is all occuring while she's posting more stuff for sale on the classifieds boards! Good luck James.

Regards,

B

Thanks Brian

I did send her a message here through Fauna to let her know I posted the BOI thread. Hopefully she surfaces.

Also, I submitted a dispute with Spamcop letting them know I'm a legit email and not a spammer.

Jim

Has anyone contacted a Pangea mod about it over there? I know it's their policy to not let users who are in questionable standing on the BOI post classifieds on Pangea.
