No one knows for sure how long has IBD been around. It might have been prevalent for hundreds of years and only detected as technology advanced or maybe even because someone decided to find out what those "inclusion bodies" were all about. The fact is that its existence has been now known for almost half a century. There's only one explanation as of why a disease that has been around for such an prolonged period of time has not wiped out all boids in captivity, it's not that easily transmitted. In a great number of instances mites have been implicated as the vector. This may explain why it's not prevalent today in a large number of collections but more likely in those that have been invaded by mites. Personally, there's not a chance that I would buy from her and would encourage other to do the same; but I would also have no problem entering a show even if I knew she had been there before. Yes to precautions, no to paranoia.
