Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. And yes, as Rozann said, that appears to be a typical 40 hour heat pack. There is usually never anything on the heat pack itself to tell you how long it lasts. It is on the packaging the heat pack comes in.
 
Ok Alison, I will concede and give credit where credit is due. You were right Jon does package correctly. And as I had emailed with Jon also during this time, it seems the only thing he neglected to do was to call in advance.:)

You want to talk about Veronica's character, Okay let's... Her character is what kept me sane when I found out I have a very serious disability , she talked me thru the very first shot I ever had to give myself and it was the help I got from her room that keeps me walking and enjoying my life instead of sitting around making others miserable.
V got involved with her Gecko's to release some of the stress
she get's from running her Chat Room and now some evil intended people have made a point of following her here to ruin her name. And someone here was silly enough to post it. Just to keep the trouble stirred up.
My personal feeling on the phone call she received is that it was to set her up. that call was made for the purpose of getting her
in a position she could be sued. Trust me my friend if your looking to ruin Veronica you're just practicing. She will survive this and it
says alot more about your bad character than hers.

Also, I don't believe anyone here cares about her other chat rooms or where she's been banned from, though if she is going around being banned from lots of chats, then there is obviously a need of some behavioural modification on her part to keep this from happening in the future. And if she is being banned for spreading BS as she apparently has here, then I say it was rightly so.

And I am truly sorry that you have a debilitating condition. I truly am. However, her helping you through tough times has nothing to do with this industry or the fact that she has deliberately come here and lied regarding several issues of her transaction with Jon at Next World Exotics. Not to mention that she disproved HERSELF with the pictures she put up.

There's a very simple rule for posting on the Board of Inquiry. Evidently, you didn't bother to read the rules, or you'd realize that your post should be deleted in short order.

That being said, the person who did the most damage to Veronica's character was Veronica herself. It statred with the ficticious FBI/IRS info (to say that anyone else besides Veronica is responsible for that being posted is being intentionally obtuse). It continued with the claim that the box was not marked as "Live Harmless Reptiles" when it was clearly written in bold red letters.

~If I remember correctly, Veronica was treated with quite a bit of kindness ...at first. People started to change their tune only when her story began to unravel. Even then, not everyone targeted her in a nasty way...just called her on some things that needed to be addressed. Sure, maybe some of us were a bit harsh. People deal with padded fiction in different ways. That's reality. When you put yourself in front of a firing squad...don't expect them to shoot at the sky.

I have to say that it wasn't till after I took those photos that I was able to see the lower left corner of the box where it was in fact covered with stickers by airborne. there under the stickers you can make out better in the photos that it says live harmless reptiles.
On the advice of my husband who is a postal worker and cares about animals we are sending those pictures onto airborne to show them that their placement of all those stickers over important information can mean the life or death of an animal.
As for Linda? or as she's known in chats as "Linduh" she is hardly someone I would ever admit to being friends with. How she knows what I have on my phone or not have is a psychic phenomenon (sp)
She was banned from my room as voted on by all 30 room administrators and our 8 board members for her cybering in the room and trouble making.
It was explained to her that our site was not the place for that behavior. To please tone it down or leave.
I hardly call that harassment. And if she sends an email to me and sends it to 20 other people also and they happen to hit reply and complain to her then that's her problem. Linduh has a habit of sending vicious emails to several people about one person in particular then gets upset when someone replies to defend that person. I personally could care less what her opinion is of me or anyone else.

I was one of your supports if you will recall. I wanted you to post the pick of your box to up your credibility. Then I saw the box here when you posted it. It stopped ANY credibility you might have on this situation.
I say this situation because this is the only issue you were really wrong about that I know of.
Everyone has personal problems, this forum however is NOT the place to bring it.
I see nothing wrong with you personally, I don't listen to gossip. What I do know is that you were wrong in this thread.
My advice: Just swallow your pride, say you were wrong and leave this thread die.

So, after it has been shown that this Jon guy didn't do anything wrong here, and the box WAS marked as it should have been, Veronica tells us this:

Why? So that Airborne will feel some heat about a practice that is technically against their own rules? So that Jon will not be allowed to ship reptiles any longer through Airborne (even though he obviously had agreement to do so from the drivers and management from the local Airborne office)? So that the local Airborne manager will be thoroughly chewed out and NEVER allow anyone else to ship reptiles through his/her office?? What is the POINT of notifying Airborne of anything?

Your animal is alive and doing fine! Veronica, why in the world would you draw attention to problems shipping reptiles, when we all know how difficult it is becomming to ship them in ANY form?

You want to whine here or on your own chat? Fine. Whine away. But PLEASE do not bring more trouble upon an industry that is breaking no laws and doing no harm whatsoever!!!
 
I agree with Darin. Leave it alone. I personally like the idea that animals can be shipped and the web makes it easier for me to buy what I want from whom I want. I personally have not had a bad delivery, AND I live in upper MI, you want to talk about cold! If I did get a animal in that was DOA I would first talk with the seller, same if the animal was sick. But if it was something I thought I could handle (and there was one) I would take care of the problem myself. As you did, and now your gecko is fine.
If you persist in your quest, you make it harder on everyone INCLUDING yourself. Watch what you do, it might come back to bite YOU!

I'd like to stick to the original issue that the poor little gecko(s) arrived in a hypothermic state.

First of all, Airborne Express has very strict shipping terms and policies regarding the shipment of live animals. Lizards are prohibited from being shipped, and most breeders who do it anyway do not label the boxes "Live Harmless Reptiles" because the shipment would be refused. This puts the responsibility of non-compliance on the shipper, because Airborne can take no responsibility.
Responsibility for the non-observance of the conditions relating to shipments which are not acceptable for transportation or are acceptable only under certain conditions, rests upon the sender and receiver of the shipment, who jointly and severally shall be liable to Airborne Express for any loss, damage, delay, liability or penalties it may incur because of the transportation of any such shipments. Airborne Express shall not be liable for any loss, damage, destruction, or delay to any such shipment that has been mis-described by the sender.

Second, Air cargo areas on jets are subject to sub-freezing temperatures and very low oxygen levels and air pressure. (Think about the conditions of the atmosphere at the altitudes that jets fly...) As a breeder who ships live Leopard Geckos across the country, it is my belief that even if a standard 40-hour heat pack was used in the shipment it may not have been able to hold up under those conditions, and the fact that the little gecko arrived alive at all indicates that a heat pack WAS used and most likely saved it's life.

Third, when a reptile arrives in an obvious hypothermic state... (listless, stiff, and unresponsive), the absolute worst thing you can do is expose them to sudden warm temperatures. It is human instinct to want to instantly "thaw them out," but in most cases that can do serious neurological and/or tissue damage. It is best to allow them to gradually acclimate to normal ambient room temperture (around 72-74 degrees) for several hours or until they become responsive before exposing them to heat. Be aware that after they are exposed to hypothermic conditions, they are vulnerable to secondary respiratory infections.
