In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Ben Siegel Reptiles

on her fb page you said in other situations you have given a 20-50 dollar refund on animals that had defects. why cant you do that? what is the difference?

I dont remember writing her at all anything like that, but--since you asked, had she come to us, and said--Hey ben(or stacey)---I really like this snake--super unhappy with the cut---I dont want to send him back, but also dont think I will be bidding on anymore auction either, do you think you could give a partial refund via paypal?-----I WOULD HAVE HAD NO issue with that AT ALL!!---none--but the timeline I gave you in my previous post was correct and true. All of it. When someone threatens you with chargebacks--public outing for being a bad guy etc ect before they have even given the owner more then a couple of hours to respond is RIDICULOUS. EVEN more ridiculous is when our company is still totally willing to do what we said we would do even after nast texts and the stuff on fb----even AFTER having a phone conversation where we left off with she will get back with me, she has the nerve to post this up trying to make us look bad? I mean give me a break---we basically bent over backwards for this customer as we do every customer that has an issue.

I'm sure all of this would go away if you offered her a partial refund. i think that she made it very clear to you yesterday that she was unhappy with the appearance of the snake. and she said she didn't want another snake

no--not true----if you read her text she actually did want another snake-----please go reread the text she sent to us. I copied it word for word.

She also sent a message to us on fb that she wanted to add another snake to this blood that she won. She later wrote that she did not have the extra money, so this situation should have been ideal for her. She got the snake--she liked it, and she could have easily won another one for that price and got a second one. And I am not interested in making this go away--I am simply giving the entire story. Something is not adding up here.

here is her text to my wife-so you dont have to search---sounds nice huh! I mean it is like there are two sides to her. The animal lover that is just so upset about this snake that she got in and she loves it and named it already, and then a text like this that sounds calculating, cold and threatening. I dont know her that well. I bought a piece of jewelry from her at a show for my wife. She made it for us. I paid for it and she sent it after we she made it and my wife was happy with it. She missed a blood on one of our auctions a couple weeks back and was very unhappy about it as she did not understand the rules--she even protested on the auction comments if I am not mistaken. She was fine when she read the rules and then bid on this one again. So the entire this was the only one for me argument seems a little silly at this point. She was also aware of the credit policy on our auctions as she had read the rules prior----which doesnt even matter really, because I told her I would just pay to have the snake shipped back and refund her in full!

"so what happens if I file a paypal claim against it? I think its a little unfair that Im not allowed to buy another animal outright that your forcing me to bid on one that may or may even be what i want. Personally I would rather just have the money back, but if you want to give me store credit or whatever then fine, but let me pick out a blood and be done with it. I dont even care about male or female, send me pics of ones you are willing to sell for $120 shipped and end it at that or im gonna go ahead and file a claim"

yeah--and threatened us with chargebacks and keep in mind also--this is After she had already posted up on her fb how she is GOING TO blow the lid right off this guy--I think those were her exact words or something along those line----and she also wrote--pm me and I will tell you who it is. SO FORGIVE ME if after this point I was really not willing to go any further then following my terms of service and did not have the warm fuzzies for candace. --OH--forgot-thats actually not true-I even went above and beyond my own rules and made and exception for her to return the animal for a full cash refund even arranged the shipment for her.

and to be clear-she said--personally--I just want my money back-she said she would take another blood in ADDITION to keeping the one for free---she just wanted to take pics send them to her and let her pick a blood in addition to keeping the one for free, or she was going to do a chargeback. NICE!!!

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

First off, ben is really great guy who does some awesome work. I've had a run in with Ben a week or two ago over an item that I bid on and couldn't go through on the payment due to some miscalculation on my part. Although I effed up and broke the rules, they were willing to try and work with me. Ben and Stacy are not ones to scam or to be unfair.
Personally, I find no problem with the refund system. Even in most retail stores, if you pay with a credit card, your refund is on your card. So it's only logical that if you are using "auction dollars" your refund would be in "auction dollars".
I don't know whether or not the OP was trying to scam Ben out of another snake, but I do know that Ben was more than reasonable in his response and in his offers to her.

Ok time for me to chime in here.. ben is. A friend on my facebook and has taken time to answer any and all of my questions, it seems to me that he has tried to rectify the situation by offering her to a.) Keep the snake and get auction bucks for the complete amount or b.) Send the snake back and refund her paypal account. Now I don't know the person that started this thread, however it seems that she wants to keep the snake and get her money back! Now if any of you know about bloods at that size they aren't the nicest creatures to work with! Iv actually almost been bit by one at a show. Ben has gone above and beyond what I expected of him by messaging me to make sure that my 3 little guys made it safely last Friday after holding for nearly a week until I could pay for them! Ben is truely amazing and offered 2 ways to rectify an overlooked mistake. Something on her end isn't adding up

Ben, shrug it off. its post like this that give you more creditability. you are a stand up business man which is somewhat rare these days in this industry.

you are in the right.

how would it be any different if she kept the snake and then waited for an auction she wanted to bid on and use her auction bucks versus having you send her pics of a blood or two that you would be willing to part with for the same price.

Candace, by bidding on the animals you where saying you read and understood the policies placed in effect by the seller. What you are doing is getting dangerously close to defamation. Ben has been more than reasonable with what he has offered you. The character of an individual is not measured in whether or not they make a mistake but in how they attempt to fix that mistake. From what I have read in this thread Ben has made a valiant attempt to make you happy and correct the mistake he made.

I have purchased animals from Ben in the past at shows and never had any problems with animals I purchased. My personal experience with Ben is that of a professional. When you purchase a product from a seller you are agreeing to their policies, plain and simple. If you do not agree with their policies you should not purchase from that seller. My personal opinion is you are trying to get a free snake to add to your collection and that it is you attempting to do the bullying not Ben.

Ben, I think you have offered to do all you can to please her. At this point you have made many offers and the ball is in her court. Most likely nothing will be good enough to make her happy. As far as I'm concerned you have done no wrong and I would not hesitate to purchase from you in the future.

like we have time to take individual pics of animals for our awesome customers, let alone for someone who has sent us nasty texts and posted up their on fb wall the stuff she did---yeah--dont think thats happening! Funny how when someone got on her wall and started defending us she took down the post! Funny how unwilling you are to go above and beyond for someone who is just nasty to you for no good reason whatsoever. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Joshua, I see you are basically not seeing any of my view in this in the least, and I hope you do understand this has zero to do with money at this point at all.

BEN ROCKS! I have a beautiful female Hog Island Boa from him and the deal couldn't have been sweeter, anytime you own a large retail business there will be a few customers you just can't please,I believe this to be the case, she wouldn't have been happy no matter what Ben did,I will buy from Ben anytime!

:iagree:
I think Ben clearly "stepped up to the plate" and tried to handle this situation in a very admirable way.
Ben has a stellar reputation for being fair and honest, and I do not think the OP has been reasonable at all.

Never dealt with Ben but while I probably wouldnt be happy to see an injured animal I just bought, I'd be highly pleased with any of those offer's he made to make it right. Hey, things just get screwed up some times. I'd buy from Ben.

I have won an auction before and was more than pleased with my purchase.
I have been in his store multiple times and they do get rather busy.
I have seen Ben at shows and he is kind and helpful.
I don't think this was done on purpose either.
They put up about 20+ animals on FB EVERY DAY so I'm sure a couple things (out of over 4,000) may fall through the cracks.
I HIGHLY doubt Ben or the crew would intentionally send out an injured animal knowing their reputation would be on the line. That's ridiculous.

Wow, just wow. This thread should be about not selling to the op instead of about Ben.
After reading through the whole thing, I would be more worried doing business with her the Ben any day of the week.
So lets see, she bought a snake that had a cut. Ben has auction rules but those aren't good enough for her . He then offers to go above and beyond those rules and give her a full refund AND let her keep the snake or a full refund if she returns the snake. Neither of those options are ok with her.
She then tries to strong arm Ben with public outing if he doesn't go and take pics of some bloods so she can pick and choose ? Give me a break. The BOI does more to make her look unseasonable or like a flat out scammer then making Ben look bad.

Ben is one of the best reptile sellers in the buesiness ,period. Mistakes can happen to anyone, its how they handle them that makes or breaks you . Theres always going to be someone you cant please or that doesnt thing rules apply to them.
