In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Maybe ur right. For some reason it offense me... why? Maybe because I see so many out there that do not appreciate those who serves and protects. Is it wrong of me to feel this way about someone that I actually look up to? IDK.... I just thought it would be a nice gesture. Weather he does it or not, its up to him. I am not looking to purchase anything at the moment. So, no it was not for myself.

Do you appreciate the farmers that put food on our tables, do you appreciate the doctors that treat our aliments, do you appreciate teachers that teach our children, do you appreciate lawyers (HAHAA) that represent you, etc..... Do you think Military are better than them? I sure don't and I've got family and friends serving.

I appreciate the guy that invented hemorrhoid cream :D He should certainly get discounts !

Do u all not understand that I said on Sept. 11???? OMFG! LMAO!!! Here, let me put it this way for you all that don't see it.

If I was one to own a restaurant and I see a man in his uniform walk in with his family. Sat down and had a meal... I will come over and say, "thank you for serving our country, this meal is on me." Even if I don't own the restaurant and I'm just a customer, I'd do the same and have done the same. It's call, giving.... You give because you want to give. Obviously, you all don't know that. I don't care!!! LOL So much for being upset because there are people out there that do not want to give. I guess I'm wasting my time here... Not just beating a dead horse, but beating a horse with no heart! Yea yea, keep on talking with ur SARCASM. I'm glad to see that you all find it funny about this... U all can't even open up your eyes and ur heart... I'm not saying all, I'm saying most of you that have spoken about my post. U all make it seem like I'm talking give a discount everyday and for myself. when I'm just saying on sept. 11. to those that have given their all without asking for anything in return. If you all cannot appreciate that or even understand what I'm trying to say... I'm wasting my time here.

I appreciate all and that's really sad for you to not feel that way. Maybe it's because your family and friends that serves have not been over seas yet and in danger. They serve without asking anything back in return. That's the difference between the military doctors and civilian doctors, the JAGs and the civilian lawyers... What I'm trying to say is that they do not ask for anything in return and we should do what we can to show a little appreciation to those that do risk their life for us. Do u not understand that?:shrug01:

And so you didn't expect the kick in the teeth from those of us who are offended by your expectation for the entire world to re-arrange their business structures because you feel it is the only way to do it?

I served in the first Gulf War. I signed up. Did my duty. Collected my checks. Went home with Uncle Sam's thanks. That's all I expected. When a service member's discount was offered and I was still active duty, I was thankful for it. But God:censored: I never demanded, expected, or felt entitled to eat someone else's food for free.

What I never had, and what I can't stomach from you, is the entitlement attitude you have regarding the situation. If you are that small minded... If you are that petty... If you can not conceptualize why people like me who HAVE SERVED THEIR COUNTRY are disgusted by the way you are pushing this... well... then that's your damage.

And besides... did YOU serve? Have YOU ever ducked a bullet? Have you ever strapped on a flack jacket, loaded your weapon, and didn't know if you were coming back from patrol intact or in a sack? No? THEN SHUT UP. :censored: :censored::censored: :censored::censored::censored: :censored: I have.

Yes they have been in harms way many times. Two of my uncles also served in the Vietnam war. YES those in the military do want something in return...it's called money!!! It's there job and they get paid for it plus benefits!!! They are no better than civilians.

Well Put. My brother who has retired from the army was in the Pentagon the night before 9/11 and left because he wasn't feeling well. He was in harms way. He has served overseas, been stations overseas, etc. I have PLENTY of friends and family that serve. I have seen the negative effects that being over there can cause. One of my dearest friends growing up was featured on the A&E show Intervention... he was so mentally messed up from being over there and seeing his BEST friend blow up right in front of him... it happens. It's a choice they make.

If I see someone in Uniform when I am out, yes I thank them. Do we offer discounts to military at our company... absolutely... with proof of ID.. in today's society you cannot always go on someone's word anymore... I think the military people get compensated very well and when they are deployed, they get extra $ for that, you can shop at the commissary with cheaper prices and NO taxes, and you get plenty of discounts at many places.

I'd like to suggest that for the sake of folks looking for info on ben, we table the military discussion. It never did really have anything to do with the thread anyway.

BIG difference between these scenarios and what you did to Ben. In this example, you don't describe yourself walking up to the restaurant owner and demanding, in front of all his customers, that he give discounts to some specific group of people. You're not demanding or expecting HIM to give...you're just saying that YOU would give....which is lovely.

To apply this situation to Ben's facebook page...you SHOULD have written on his wall, "Ben...because I feel we should give back to those who serve our country, ~I~ would like to donate xx% toward the purchase of an animal for the next serviceman that buys from you."

THAT, I am quite sure, would have touched a lot of hearts, including Ben's.

Instead....you make us all look like spoiled little kids who believe they're entitled to special treatment because we chose to serve our country and communities. AND, you make Ben look bad because he didn't put up with being forced into an unwinnable situation with regards to how he chooses to run his business.

They recieve a paycheck and benefits unparalleled in the private sector plus the reward of knowing that they've served their nation. That's the return. They don't need to be patronized by private businesses.

I was going to address this in blue, (as a moderator,) but decided to leave that hat off.
You've managed to add 20 posts to this thread....over a perceived snub on a social networking site? Because your post on his wall got removed? Well, boo-friggin-hoo.
Because of that perceived slight, you've characterized a businessman as being un-American, and the people that didn't grab up their pitchforks and follow your lead as heartless and unappreciative.
You have "defriended" him, and vowed to never do business with him. It's time for you to open your eyes to one simple fact: It isn't that we "don't get it", or don't appreciate your enthusiastic support of our military and "first responders" - especially on the anniversary of 09/11...we simply don't share your outrage that your request was removed.

Did you happen to consider that the business conducted on the page to which you posted is a number of daily auctions...many, if not most, of which end at below retail pricing? Auctions go to the highest bidder within the alotted time frame, period. To offer somebody a discount after the fact would create problems. Now, maybe you meant that it would be a nice gesture if he offered military/provider discount at his retail store - the place where there is a fixed price for everybody (which includes a markup to cover overhead and provide profit - because, realistically, that's where the discount comes from....the business is basically offering to sell at a reduced (or no) profit, in recognition of the group to which it gives the discount) - if that is the case, you approached it poorly. An email, a message, or even a phone call would have been more appropriate.

To get back on track here: I have had nothing but good transactions with BSR. With one order, while they were packing they noticed that one of the cornsnakes I had won in an auction had a slight kink. They contacted me and offered a different animal (that was actually more valuable) or auction dollars. That seemed fair to me and I plan on continuing to do business with Ben.

sorry I am just getting this. I have to say this is silly. I am sorry I never even saw your post on military discounts. We have several mods that take down HUNDREDS of posts per day. I take my own posts down all the time. If we dont--you all would never even see the auctions. We actually post up regularly on our own wall please message questions instead of posting. Dont feel snubbed. Had you messaged me I would have absolutely considered doing something, but I cant just approve something like that without thinking about the logistics of it. Both my father and step father served- in ww2 and vietnam--I have many friends and family that are both active and inactive military. Next--send someone an email---Will normally get you way farther! And while thinking about it---logistically on the auctions setting it would be tough to take care of(we are spread thin as is!) , but I like the idea of the discount for military in the store with id. 10% military discount sounds pretty good.

You seem to fail miserably in seeing the difference between what YOU would do and what you expect OTHERS to do . You can talk all you want about how it didnt matter one way or another but your posts suggest otherwise.

I can only add one thing , I sure hope you DIDN'T serve or I pity all the business's that have to deal with you. You sound just like the OP all over again.

It is indeed however what YOU did is called demanding.

You corner someone publicly and pretty much tell them how they should run THEIR business and because they do not abide by your demands believe you should put your 2 cents here judging their business or character which obviously you know nothing about.

Have you done business with Ben? Was the transaction satisfactory?

I have and I can tell you Ben is a stand up guy.

I don't care!!! LOL So much for being upset because there are people out there that do not want to give. I guess I'm wasting my time here... Not just beating a dead horse, but beating a horse with no heart!
Yes you do, and there you go again making assumption because someone does not answer to YOUR demands or does not agree with you on the fact that you make such demands.

One thing I know about people who do good around them whether by serving their country, or doing so in any other way, is that they remain humble, do not brag about what they do and do not expect anything in return....you on the other end

I wonder what your husband think about YOUR sense of entitlement because HE serve in the military? :ack2:

Hey Ben! I received my three baby boas today! Whooooop whoooooop!:D They were the Albino Boa, and a 1.1 100% Het for Albino Boas from your auction. They were well packaged, arrived alive and in excellent health! As always, thank you very much.

And to the rest of you? I got them well below retail. Their customer service is second to none. He has a HUGE variety of animals (one of his Nuu Anas is going to be MY Nuu Ana lol!), and knows his :censored:. The only people on here who are bitching about him are those who, oh forget it. I'm not going to rehash. Just turn this BOI thread into a Good Guys thread for God's sake :)

Please consider using paragraphs and proper punctuation. When conveying a message you should do so with respect to your audience. By talking down to your audience you lose all credibility.

I am confident that the majority of the people on this website respect and appreciate what our servicemen/women do for us as a country and as individuals. They did choose this occupation, but I do respect them for it. As mentioned, the same can be said for any occupation.

To tell a successful business person how to run their business and what discounts they should offer is disrespectful, heighted by the fact it was done in public.

I am currently serving. Is it nice to get a discount at some places? Yes. Do I feel entitled to it? Heavens no. Nor do the majority of other servicemen and women that I know. I also liked the question as to how Ben would know if someone was in the military as it is against the law to take a picture of your military ID period.

the military discount discussion needs to end as it has been addressed by the subject of this thread and this is getting.. you guessed it folks.. off topic. Enough already.
