In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Beware of Jeane Best & Wendy Childs

why dont the two OP's take a step back and try conversing through email. ignoring what has been said on this thread for a moment. i think that if they both sat back and explained things to eachother a little better it might help the situation at hand.

Its obvious that some mistake on both parts has been made. wether it be communication or lack of better thinking. I dont think shes trying to cheat him, and i dont feel that he is wrong in keeping within his TOS. ( is it possible to walk the middle line here?)

I know its a bit tough to swallow and accept that you lost two animals Wendy, but at the same time, maybe if the both of you talk a little more and are willing to work things out, you can fix this up a little maybe if things go well, work out some sort of deal if you feel that you can. because frankly right now. its a huge mess on both of your parts ^_^;

If the animals are healthy in all honesty then lets accept that theyre now gone and nothing can be done. personally i dont feel that these animals look unhealthy at all, and i dont even know a ton about crested geckos. but im sure i can tell a sick one from a healthy one.
it may not have been completely your fault that you missed the UPS, but when dealing in these kind of matters, its your responsibilty. I know i know. its a pain to swallow that, but really its something we all must learn and trust me. ive had to swallow my pride MANY a time and admit that im wrong.(remember the recent BOI where i blamed somone wrongfully?) it might be irritating. but its somtimes the only way. and once you sit back and realize... maybe it wasnt so bad to just accept it and move on.

I wish the best of luck to the both of you in dealing with this.

Here are the pictures of the box in all its taped glory. As stated.

#1 I asked it NOT to be shipped UPS.

#2 Driver did NOT ring my bell.

#3 Box NOT marked "LIVE" in any way.

#4 Package IS INSURED....so what the deal?????

#5 NO COOL PACKS as stated in the guarantee

#6 Shipped TOO YOUNG and TOO SMALL NOT weights stated at time of sale.

#7. Box tapped all up to allow no air at all in it.

#8 WET paper in the delis causing extreme humidity.

#9. Minimal paper as stuffing.

I expect a refund for the dead ones. And if the 3rd dies too. If you choose not to refund those then Jeane has stated she will be taking this to her credit card company to dispute. You choose not to return any calls from her or I or try to work this out when they are insured. Thats just immature. Period.

Alicia,
You are not even of drinking age yet (maybe there's much to be said about that, and its manifestaations in this thread), and yet your last post makes more sense than the rantings of several of us experienced gents combined !!

I just left a message for the vet to take these in so I can prove they are underweight, undersized, dehydrated. They are not well started overall. Only the one look ok. I have never had a crestie "bite" food. They "lick" baby food (organic-no sugar). Never bite it like they are starving. See the yellow poop?

NOONE online sells Cresteds under 4-5 grams. NO ONE!!!!!!

Erik wont speak to us. I didnt bring this here. He did. I was still waiting on his call back.

Bottom line is I ordered 6 crested geckos at 7 gram each health shipped DHL with cool packs. I got less than 1 gram dehydrated geckos shipped UPS with no cool packs.

I am done ehere. I will let Jeane do what she wants with her credit card. Its between them 2 now. And he wont talk to her, so I am sure you can see where this is going.

Wendy

You choose not to return any calls from her or I or try to work this out when they are insured.

Don't know what the box says, but the animals themselves are not insured to be alive. UPS does not cover perishables that are delivered yet "perished" in any manner. Only the loss of the box, theft, etc., would cover the insured value. If they arrive DOA, regardless of any delays or reasons, its just tough. That is very clear in the TOS of all the major carriers.

Alicia, maybe this thread would be an example of why not to dring .....errrr drink?

Okay, let me start by saying that it took a heck of a long time to read through every post and sort through the muck.

I have been to Erik's house and seen his animals. I've even purchased some geckos from him in the past. His facilities have always been spotless and his animals of the highest quality. I was at his house about 2 weeks ago and even held some of the geckos that he sent you. None of his geckos ever appeared sickly or underweight. (Now it was 2 weeks ago that I went, but I doubt that he stopped feeding them after I left.)

I took a photo that I thought might be relevant to the issue at hand. You can take any animal and make it weigh nothing if you want to by simply placing it on the scale and THEN turning it on. I've included two photos of the same animal... on the same scale. You can see the difference, yet the animal is the same and the photos were taken one after the other after the scale was turned off and then on again.

This whole thing sounds like a mess. Erik called me yesterday and during that time, the phone beeped twice. Both times he said that Wendy was calling him and got off the phone to answer it the second time. He called me back afterwards and said that she was using vulgar language and calling him a gecko killer. Now I've never dealt with Wendy before, but every time I've dealt with Erik, it has never been less than an absolute pleasure.

When I ship animals, I use the same box. 12 x 9 x 6" with 1/2" styrofoam insulation... NO holes, but the box is taped down the middle to allow air to come in through the sides. I've never had a DOA. I may or may not use a heat or cool pack, depending on night temperatures here, layover temps, and arrival temps. If the gecko is scheduled to arrive early in the morning on a mild day, usually no pack is included.

Then this pic says it all! The 8 gram one with the -1 gecko.

See why I am a little upset? I paid for 7 gram geckos that would have survived shipping.

Sarah. I have no reason to alter a scale. How then do you explain the nikle picture? You know a 7 gram gecko doesnt fit on a fingernail. Does that look like a 7 gram gecko to you?

I was not insinuating he has bad facilities or is a bad person. I never said that. A -1 gecko could VERY easily dehydrate when in a heated box on wet towels making it even more humid. JUST during shipping.

I admitted blatantly that I said to him what the F**** where you thinking sending me hatchling geckos????? Youd be pissed too. I was very upset that they were dead and near dead. I LOVE animals. I expected 7 gram geckos and found this......

I never said he didnt answer me when I called. He did before I got the box, and the one time after. I didnt say he was anything other than blaming and no discussive. He didnt care. Flat out. He never even said. Oh my I am sorry they are dead Wendy. Funny he said he couldnt talk because he was at work and would have to call me back after 11:30 pm. But he was on the phone with you???? And then he made the post here and has never called back. Jeane even left another message. She didnt curse at him. SHE paid for them. Whats that excuse not to talk to her????

My question to you is do you ship 1 gram geckos??? I have never seen any posted on your site that small...............

Looking at Erik's "Available" page, it appears that the only gecko you purchased that was advertised as being 7 grams was gecko CG-05-32. All of the other geckos purchased (06-1, 06-4, 06-8, CG10, and CG11) do not have listed weights and appear to be young juveniles. (It's easy to tell when a crested is very young as they'll have a gigantic head and slim build.)

Geckos can be shipped at weights lower than 7 grams with no ill effects. Once a gecko is at least a month old, eating on it's own and thriving... it can be shipped as long as the proper precautions are taken. (Which you would do with any animal.) If I had to wait until all my geckos were 7 grams to ship, I'd be completely backed up and my prices would increase since many would be sexable at that time. ;)

It would be very simple to explain the nickel picture.

Set the gecko on the scale.......zero (tare) it out, then place the nickel on there. Not really rocket science. :shrug01:

LOL, who are you to set "industry standards"? You base this on what? Please link me to the "industry standards" so that I can see this for myself.

FYI, I received a 5 baby cresteds 2 years ago from Nathan Hall, whose experience and knowledge with these geckos far exceeds yours, that were the same size as the ones you received, so your "NOONE online sells Cresteds under 4-5 grams. NO ONE" statement is pure BS.

I have yet to see any geckos posted for sale anywhere including Sarah site, Pangea, AC, Clark, crested Gecko.com, Ect. I think that sets a standard. That weight less than 4 grams for sale.

Nor would I buy any under 4 grams. Nor did I. That no one is commenting on. I paid for 7 gram geckos. I got week old or days old geckos. Period!!!!!

I never sat down to try to figure how to minipulate a scale. Nor do I need to. It is clear they ones are smaller than the one that weighs one gram. And blatant that the 4 gram one is way bigger. I welcome anyone to come over and look. My door is open!!!!!

He told me they ALL weighed 7 grams and could be housed in the same screen cage. So I have no idea what the website says.Or if he in fact changed it. I never looked there. I didnt buy them from his website. I bought them off Kingsnake, his "despirate I need money bad" ad. Where in fact NONE of these terms were stated at all! I bought all but one of the geckos he emailed me pics of.

I have a doctor to go see, funny how that somehow seems like better things to do.

I will NEVER ship a gecko under 4 grams. Never. Wont buy any either.

This is now between him and Jeane. The payee. I highly doubt she will EVER come here. Unlike me, she doesnt care what the community thinks.......I should take notes. Case closed. I made my point!

I still think that the scale would weigh more accurately if it were set to gram rather than kilogram. When weighing yourself do you use a scale that weighs measuring in Tons?
Well Timmy, you would be wrong (as usual). It's the same scale just putting the decimal point in a different place. That isn't to say the scale wasn't tared with the gecko on it so that it read zero, mind you, but you, sir, are clearly not a rocket scientist.

can you link to the ad wendy? i think it would help ^_^

You can look at what Erik had and still has available on his website.....only one of the geckos listed as being sold even has a weight listed, that one does say 7 grams. There are no weights given for the others.
