Apology

First let me say I posted this else where but was told by DThomas to post it here.And as much as I hate to bring this thread back to life here it is....I Bill Leverton aka Clearwater Reptiles want to make a formal apology for my actions and my misdeeds. This community has always been a place of integrity and doing what is right. I took your respect and destroyed it and for that I am truly sorry. I would like the opportunity to regain that respect. I know this isn’t going to happen overnight, but hopefully in time it can be that way again.

Oh thats right, no one told you?! Simply allowing it to blow over and quiet wont get it done. You have to be proactive and take steps to legitimately prove you're the person you claim to be.

You let alot of us down Bill. Myself included..... You have no idea.

Make good on your word, and certainly don't act as if nothing has happened or this changes anything.........

I ripped Bill a couple of new ones in this thread but he is apologizing here and not asking for anything but for people to give him an opportunity over time.

I see this as his reaching up and I for one will reach down and lend a hand so long as he wants to do the right thing. This is the first step.

Being in a chat room trying to sell boas a few short days after the wounds have begun healing can be taken many ways....

Words can't take you out of a problem you behaved yourself in. We have had several individuals in the BOI that have expressed their deepest regretts to only turn around and do it again at the first chance they had. The only one that needs to know that has changed is you. But don't tell us that you "saw the light", that you are the "new Leverton", etc. Actions Bill, actions is all that count. But then again don't tell us about them; don't ask people to post on your behalf. News travel fast and we will know the good as well as the bad deeds. We were all outraged by what you did. But the attempt to cover up was what probably infuriated people even more. You sent me several personal e-mails with explanations about how everything happened, the UPS ordeal, the two snakes, the teacher, the fact that you requested the snake back after having sold it so you could send it back to Lee together with the second snake, etc. After learning the truth, all this probably generated more outrage than your initial scam attempt. With your first action we were all caught by surprise. Maybe some were more sad at your character flaw than outward mad. With the cover-up attempt we learned that what happened initially was not the action of a kid snatching a baby corn at a show because of incredible temptation, and not knowing better. In reality you were willing to go all the way, and try to cover it up at all costs. So again my thoughts are why don't you start doing "community service". And, IMHO it would be more effective outside of the BOI because each time you post in here in a bad guy thread it's probably like a slap in the face for some people, myself included.

The point I was trying to make was more general and not referring to the post on this thread or the one on the GBD. Bill needs to take a “vacation” away from all this. The only way he might have a chance for a come back is by getting on with his life and attempting to erase the past. Words are cheap, and actions are all that count. If he asks for forgiveness and continues to post in here he might never accomplish it. Personally I would love to hear from someone telling me that Bill sent them the best snake ever, not once but several times. Hear also that he lends a helping hand to people in need. This is not going to happen if he continues to post in here. He needs to put some distance and re-think his approach to life. That’s just my opinion and as such some might agree and some might disagree.

I also agree!! I've never met Bill, exchanged an email, or a p.m. so this didn't really affect me personally, However, when someone is asking for help to better their lives, I will always do what I can to help!!

I have managed to stay clean and sober for almost 17 years. I learned that I have to help other's in order to keep what I have, am I hard on other fallen addicts?? Yes I am. Do I use tough love? You bet, but when I am asked for forgiveness and help another, I do not turn my back and walk away. I hold my head up and lead by example!!

I'm there with ya too. Forgiveness is one of the most important things we can share with others.....trust must be earned or regained over time, but forgiveness shouldn't come with a price or strings attached.

I sent a couple of pms to Bill asking for an explanation. Never got one, never got an apology for the way he let me stand up in public for his character, when all the time he knew he had lied and stolen.

I truly do think that actions speak louder than words (although I received no words from him). I myself am on a very small budget, having recently got a little car to replace mine which was old and drinking gas. Today, I found $5 in the teacher's lounge at the school where I work. Exactly the type of response that leaves me hesitant to start forgiving anything. The apology sounded sincere enough, and then to come back with some snappy yappy sarcasitc BS...tis a shame.

Yeah I agree.....Bill doesn't belong back in the hobby. Is everyone forgetting the implied threats Biker Bill made on here and his overall unapologetic confrontational behavior?

Believe it or not I may be one of the nicest people you'd ever meet but I would never let anyone like this guy back in my "circle". You guys can lend this guy a helping hand if you want to but make sure you wear burn proof gloves.

I will help anyone that needs it and is 100% sincere but judging by Bill's last post........it's the same old Biker Bill.

I will never know what it is like to be in Bill position, and I would venture a guess that there are a quite a few ways that this could have been handled differently, however it is what it is, and maybe, just maybe, he can change. I for one, will give him a chance to change!!

It is definitely your right to pick and choose who you help Laura.....Being an addict myself I am well aware some people deserve a second chance.....However, I have never threatened anyone nor have I stole. I grew up with a step-father who was a crook. Everyone one liked him thought he was great but deep down inside he was the biggest swindler I ever met. He stole from the very people who gave him second and third chances. I knew better and I cut my ties with him and left his ass in the dust as soon as I could get out of his household when I was 17. Unfortunately my Mother didn't, he stole from her and left her stranded. He also stole from his best friends all the meanwhile having the appearance of a "good guy".....I knew better. So folks feel free to let Bill back into your heart and go ahead and send him some money for a Boa just so he can prove himself....I know I will never sell him anything or buy anything from him.....ever.

Everyone has their own opinions and can make their own choices and that is mine.

You are entitled to your own opinion which I respect, but to answer your question five people that were lied over and over again on private messages (and please don’t ask me to post all those e-mails, I also want this to end here), in addition to dozens of people here in the BOI were all burnt by Bill. There are many things besides money that can be stolen, one for example is trust.

I agree people should be given chances...but you can't change people's perception of you overnight. Trying to sell animals in chats and making smart comments on this thread sure dosen't seem to be working out for him. That is not building trust, it seems me Bill is out for sympathy and quick forgiveness. When according to him he knew what he was in for and that he deserved it.

I think alot of people feel they were "burned" by him...he lied to everyone who read this thread when he posted here...lying is just as bad as stealing imo...both are dishonest and selfish ways of conducting yourself.

How many people vouched for and defended him in the beginning, I believe that someone also called for the OP to apologize. I'm sure they feel betrayed.

How many people here spoke with him in chat, saw him at shows etc and considered him to be one of the good guys. I read his posts on Fauna and thought the same...like hey, this is a guy thats looking out for everyone, definitely one of the good guys...I was pretty shocked and I don't even know him personally like alot of people here do.

I don't know where the line is between giving someone a second chance and forgiving too quickly and enabling them to repeat their past mistakes...but personally I wouldn't ever do any kind of business with him, not just because of the lying, stealing, shill bidding that he has admitted to (which in itself should be enough) but also because of how he has conducted himself after being caught.

But that's just me, everyone is entitled to there own view in the matter and I'm not trying to convince anyone to feel the same as I do.

...The only thing that keeps running through my mind is something my grand father said to me before he past "You come into this world and given a name..your parents teach you right from wrong..you will go through life with this name it is up to you what kind of name you will take to your grave...[/B.
