In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Boamaster (Mark Venhorst)

Yes, the Hypo is dead. It even shows it on the vet. report. He died on 20 May 2011.

I was just looking at vet record when you posted. Looking at the vet report, it does show the patient being "hypo". Also states that the owner called in on the 20th to let them know the snake died 2 days ago, which would mean the 18th (Thurs).

Sorry, the 2 day thing threw me off.

Yeah - I didn't backtrack to see which one had died....given the descriptions/diagnoses posted earlier, I went with the worst prognosis (and chose incorrectly).
The sentiment is unchanged, though, even though I mixed up the animals. I hope the remaining snake pulls through for you.

I am not comfortable buying from someone who is ok with selling sick snakes at any price, period. End of story.

As far as the buyer goes, that was their choice to receive sick animals. They are not running a bunch of adds trying to sell boas at discount prices so I don't really see a need to make a choice about how I feel about their actions. BUT Mark is....

Lets Imagine for a second that the buyer did everything 100% the way YOU would have done it. Everyone would be preaching a whooooole different story, yet Marks side of the situation would be exactly the same. He knowingly sold a sick snake...

My stance on Mark's side of this situation has not changed since the thread was started.

One can tell a lot about a person by the way they express themselves in writing. From looking at the OP's posts, she is clear, concise, and just about always plays devil's advocate regarding her own position. With the single post Mark so graciously provided, I believe most will agree he is sloppy, rude, and crude... at best. I really feel sorry for the reptiles. Those poor animals that died should have been euthanitized probably weeks before their demise. It is quite possible someday Mark will be old and cheating death with every breath. It is my sincere hope he too will know the anguish a little gram-positive bacteria in the lungs and blood can bring, just like at least one of those hapless serpents did when he decided to add the stress of shipping to it's condition, in order to 'take away his reproach'. Does this sound harsh? I hope so.
Mark, if ur reading dis post - shame on U.

Really, what can that statement possibly contribute to this thread?

Nothing.

Let's not let it drift off topic with comments regarding the end of a person's life when it is completely irrelevant to the situation at hand.

You're right - my bad. I just get a little emotional when I think of some of the animals I've seen in the past that were in that sort of shape, according to what the vet's report states, then add to that someone shipping them to make money off of them - pretty much a waste of human skin. That sort of thing is all some of these animal-rights activists need to get hold of to make this business/hobby a part of history.

The het albino died this morning. It just sucks to know that she would still be alive if someone (either Mark or the person he purchased her from) took care of her properly. We did all we could do for these snakes and in the end it wasn't enough.

He has given me nothing as a replacement. He did offer a dh sunglow and a het albino baby just born this year. When I asked for my money back (I didn't want anymore of his snakes) he said he wasn't going to give me anything because I didn't want to be helped. Whatever that means. I still haven't received a refund of any kind from Mark.

I wish I had a boa I could send you - although I know it wouldn't lessen your pain. There are only a very few things worse than watching an animal suffer. FTR, I was not wishing an early end to Marks life in any way shape or form, I just would like him to empathize with the little creatures he is 'caring for' in less than a careful manner.

Anthony,
I understood totally where you were coming from regarding some empathy from Mark for his animals.

Allison,
I really, really hope Mark will step up to the plate and do the right thing. If it is in giving you a refund or shipping a healthy animal with the same value as the VERY, VERY sick animals he sent you. I am so sorry you had to go through losing not one, not two but three animals within a VERY short timeframe. How sad and disappointing. V/R Paige

I think it's a real classy tactic for people who send sick animals out to offer more animals in replacement and refuse a refund... The last thing someone who has received a dying animal wants is more animals from that person.

I'm sorry for the loss of all three of your snakes. It's such a shame that the animals didn't make it, especially since the seller probably could have saved them by taking them to the vet. Just one more reminder for everyone that we shouldn't buy a sick animal from a seller, even if the price makes it tempting. If you're getting a "too good to be true" deal from someone you don't know and trust, it's probably too good to be true. And honestly, I think an inquiry thread is in order for any persons that attempt to sell an animal that isn't in good health

I was under the impression he had offered you a pair of DH Sunglows. According to his current prices, they are $125 each. With shipping included thats a $300 value. How much did you pay for your 3 snakes without shipping? Do you have a paypal statement or anything to back up the amount you paid?
