In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

California Zoological Supply (Inquiry)

It was Karma.....or freudian.....

or somrthing like that........It was 1993....I was a maintenance supervisor in
Austin TX.....I had a helper that would do all the stuff I didn't really want to do..........I can't remeber his name or I would plaster it......So I will call him
Ty2.....Not to confuse him with the Ty guy already in this thread....I hand him
a stack of work orders one morning and tell him to write everything he does in each unit........Later that day he brings the stack of work orders and throws them on the desk and says everything is fixed.....I start thumbing thru
the orders, looking at what he did all afternoon......I get halfway thru the pile
and stop.....Look up at Ty2....and Tell him It looks like he was screwing off all Day.....Ty2 looks perplexed......I start reading the work orders
.....You "cocked" the sink, You "cocked" the tub You "cocked" the Toilet....

I know this thread is old and dead, but I had to post this.

I made a trip out to California last weekend to see several reptile friends, customers, etc. After I got out there, I realized that Cal Zoo was in Santa Ana, just down the street from the airport I was flying out of. I called Ty and asked him if I could come by on my way to the airport before I left. He said that was fine, so I went by and looked around and then we did lunch.

Having seen the entire place first-hand, I have to say that it's nothing like Mr. Pollock made it sound. I knew they ran a tight ship because I've dealt with them before, but I wasn't expecting it to be so clean.

For example, even inexpensive stuff like normal leopard geckos were housed individually, except for a few smaller ones that were housed two per container. Most of the crested geckos and gargoyles were housed individually, which is more than I can say for myself (we usually do 3-4 cresteds per tub). All of their snakes, except for stuff like garters and rough greens, were housed individually. Even the wild caught lizards and snakes that were housed together were in surprisingly great condition. Sure...some of the more recent imports were a bit thin and there was the occasional dead house gecko or agamid, but I don't remember seeing a single sick or dead CB animal. It just dawned on me, I don't even remember seeing anything with stuck shed.

Bottom line, Cal Zoo was one of the cleanest places I've ever seen and that's including any private breeding facilities I've seen. To put this in perspective, this place was the size of a small grocery store and I literally didn't see a single cage that I thought needed attention.

I know what you're thinking...we've all been to facilities where everything was recently cleaned and it was obvious that they cleaned up because they were expecting company. That's not how it was at Cal Zoo. For one, considering there are thousands of cages, there's no way they would have had time for that. Plus, the cages weren't all freshly cleaned...some were probably cleaned that day and others looked like they had been cleaned the week before.

Not only would I not be afraid to send my pet quality animals (normal leopards and cresteds, etc.) to Cal Zoo, but I would also buy from them in a heartbeat. That's saying a lot, considering the fact that I've gotten to the point where I rarely buy animals from someone I don't know (private hobbyists included).

It just goes to show that you can't listen to everyone on the BOI, especially people like Wes who have an axe to grind with anyone who's more successful than they are.

Forgot to add one thing...I shouldn't say I would buy from them because I actually did end up buying several animals while I was there. lol
