    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'll stand by that, he IS smart and has an education and experience that is pretty impressive if you hit him on a subject that he's both interested in and that has more facts and fewer opinions and feelings. Unless I have strong information that contradicts him I'd take Chad's word at face value about a lot of herpetological and environmental subjects... ranges of north american species or subspecies, seasonal habits and habitats, diet, microhabitat... I haven't always agreed with him about some taxonomy subjects but he's never given me bad or inacurate crap that he can't site a source for... just sometimes it's a bit biased if a change is proposed by someone he knows personally.

He is smart. He's also abrasive and prone to be argumentative with minimal justification... and smart isn't always all encompassing when it comes to things like social manipulation, anger management, retaining credibility or sometimes common sense.

I'm not saying that I agree with anything he has said about Justin. Frankly I'm inclined to disbelieve them unless confronted with something more than feelings and personal animosity. I do know Chad well enough to say that he does understand what would constitute sustainable versus destructive collection though. And that he is absolutely not a tree hugger or a PETA type and endorses responsible and legal field collection. I also know that he's dedicated a large portion of his time and attention since I ran into him on AOL years ago to North American herps and that he's got a good grasp of things like population dynamics.

What I don't know and was waiting to see... was exactly what he knew (or thought he knew) about Justin and why he thought he knew it. It's looking more and more like a case of "My buddy said..." but he might still potentially bust something out.

Ohyeah... and Chad... if you have no real information that can be verified or that you can at least name a witness for, just apologize and drop it. You know damn well that not everyone is going to get along all the time and while it makes sense to trust a personal friend over someone you don't know when they make statements assessing the character or behavior of another individual, taking someone else's opinion and running with it is a step beyond what's reasonable.

All I can say Seamus is that based on his behaviour here, I would like to point out that there is a vast difference between being knowledgable on a subject as opposed to being really smart. His misuse of this forum to grind a personal ax, his lies at more than one juncture and his complete lack of any sort of proof of his allegations demonstrate both a lack of common sense and a definite lack of both integrity and character.

Chad, the only one who came off looking bad here is you.

So yeah, I did tell a lie when I claimed to have contacted the authorities. Big friggin deal, at least I didn't actually do it. I wouldn't do that to someone without knowing for a fact that they deserve it. I used it as a scare tactic on a public forum that is used for public debates on the subjective opinions that some may have about others. It seems to have worked since Justin has apparently quit collecting these animals. I've found out that there's 100% no doubt that Justin can do nothing to me legally, so I don't regret any of it. I am a concerned individual who used a public means to address a problem that I had with a public user... I've offered Justin ample opportunity to defend his actions with words and logic, but instead he threatens me with legal action to silence me. Well done, I think you deserve everyone's respect for that. :thumbsup:

As I've said before, there has been a vocal minority that has risen to defend Justin, and I don't deny that many of my actions validated this...But any objective reader who cares about conservation will see my logic and I'm sure that they will support me.

And Chad, just to show that I'm fair, if you can prove to me that Whitney is indeed not your surname, I'll speak to Rich about undoing the fine and suspension. Otherwise, your only other option is pay to play.

Acceptable proof would be along the lines of a copy of a government issued ID.

Yeah even though I was being hard on him, I was ready to open my mind and look at the facts.

Seamus is right about chadwicke knowing a lot about field herping professionally and all that goes with it.

It's too bad you can't trust a damn thing he says outside of that. This is not the first time he's been down this road of trying to make some defend a position in order for chadwicke to have ammunition for a foundationless accusation.
