In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well I'd deal with Chris but I would stay away from Dan. Give some one a chance before going postal next time. If you ever did this to me Dan I'd tell you to go pee up a rope. Being unhappy? Sure. Slandering some one and baiting them is another. Some times things go wrong and when they do acting like a child usually gets you nothing.

I really appreciate that. Thanks. The shame of it is that if anyone does a boi check on me, all they will see is this thread, and if they don't actually read it through, they might decide they can't trust me.

Most people read through it, because they have the sense enough to make sure they have all the info about the prospective deal with you.

To me, if they look at the big red x, and read only the first couple posts, then they are just as hasty and jump the gun type, that you dont really want to deal with anyway.

They will read through the thread. I do when checking someone out, I want to know I have all the facts before making up my mind. Especially, if the person has only one BG thread.

Well, let's not pretend that there's anything in that string of texts that makes either party come out looking considerably more reasonable than the other. OP should have checked them out more thorougly before the other party left. However, when someone flat-out claims to have recently tested the whole setup, and then pieces are suddenly missing upon delivery, that sounds fishy. It's fairly counterintuitive to think that someone would gather everything together, test it for functionality, then scatter the pieces again.

Unfortunately, since the encounter clearly wasn't videotaped, there's a strong degree of plausible deniability on both sides. And it'll never amount to more than a 'he said, she said' situation. If/when the pieces aren't found in the garage, it's still not going to clearly indicate who's lying. The OP will say he didn't find them because he likely never had them, and the other side will say he didn't find them because they were already delivered to the OP. As I said, no possibility for a clear-cut winner.

I'm going to have to go against what seems to be the general concensus. Based on nothing more than my interpretation of the provided correspondence, if I had to choose one of them to buy from, I think I'd rather deal with the OP.

I was talking about this to a friend of mine (someone I've done multiple satisfactory transactions with in the past) who happen to be nearby to where I currently am, and he has said that he would be more than willing to front me the necessary parts. I'm going to take him up on his offer and will be shipping them out today. I've asked him to come on and verify this information, in case Dan has any other conspiracy theories he'd like to recklessly slander me with, so that should be coming, but Dan, you're going to get all of the parts that you said you were missing and then some, whether the fault is mine or not. I certainly hope it was worth all the rage and defamation of character.

I thought it sounded odd as well, which is why I was in so much disbelief when he claimed the parts were missing. I'm not saying this makes perfect sense, but if you think it's not possible that a cord got caught on something while I was loading the rack, or that it simply fell off at some point during the week, you're being unrealistic. It may not be likely, but it's possible, and it's the only possible explanation I have.

As I said, no possibility for a clear-cut winner.

You left out the possibility that I go home and find them, in which case it was all an honest mistake on my end. The difference is, I feel that I am entitled to make the occasional, honest mistake. In addition, I can also take steps to rectify this mistake. The OP has made wild accusations about my character, about the care of my animals, and about my intentions. He has misrepresented the communications between us. He harassed me for hours despite having been told that if what he said was true, he would be getting his missing parts. He went completely over the edge, and over $10 worth of parts that he is going to get anyway. That can't be fixed.

You want to do business with Dan, be my guest, but I can tell you that I'll never deal with him again, and I wouldn't let anyone I care about deal with him either. I genuinely don't consider anyone who can get this angry about having to wait a few days for $10 worth of parts to be emotionally stable.

I am not complaining so much about the money. I thought since he was still close just giving 30 back was easiest solution. since he didnt respond that became a mute point. what set me off was I might have to accept that he lied. THAT IS MY PROBLEM. He claimed they worked on all three and tested. impossible. for those jumping on me, read the post.

first. I asked if the heat worked. he claimed he checked this is clear, correct?
I asked when i noticed they were missing. I should have cleared it up first. i didnt stop him my fault.

this really is a matter of principal. he said they worked he tested them
fact is he lied. I dont take that lightly. and those texts that i posted dont look edited to me.

i already ordered new heat and a controller. not a big deal even stated not a problem clean it no sweat. read the post its there.

i offered to trade back he wouldnt give address.

i have a problem accepting losses as part of a deal.

How about any of you? should people be accountable?

Again he said he tested them why would he not leave them intact after testing?

why not just say they need heat. i would have been ok with that and still offered the trade. since i upgraded to trijicon accupoint.

wait til yall see the pics (as soon as i figure out how to get them from my phone to pc). Chris if you find them keep them i have enough cleaning still left to do. this was a matter of principal. those rack came in the exact condition pictured in the ad posted my beginning thread.

my phone is verizon something about 4 years old i sent them to my online album i havent figured how to get them here please advise via pm i will follow directions and post right away.

again accepting losses from bad dealing or whatever label chris wants to put on it.
a duck by any other name ya know? is not something i do or accept.
if he said they need heat i would have still done it.

also his ad said free delivery in jersey im half hour from the NJ,PA,NY border i gave him 50 to go a bit out of his specified free zone.

Again, no way for anyone to prove anything at this point. However, a single piece possibly managing to get caught, and fall off without notice, is one thing. Multiple pieces falling off, without being noticed, seems to be quite another. Doesn't speak highly of your level of attention to detail.

My omission wasn't an oversight. I just viewed it as unlikely enough to not be worth mentioning. You chose to rationalize an "honest mistake" by playing the mutual disappointment card. You've seemingly taken the stance that he got such a great deal, that he made out like a bandit, and should be happy with what he got, missing pieces be damned.

With neither side having posted anything tangible to back their side up, so much of this is open to interpretation and supposition. I suppose my own inclination is to be more empathetic with someone who seemingly feels wronged and believes it's your place to make him whole, sooner rather than later. That being said, I can't help but point out that the OP could have definitely been a bit more reasonable, or at least less aggressive and impatient. So, back to my initial statement, I don't see either of you coming out smelling like a rose. Clearly, my own opinion isn't in line with the apparent majority.

That's three times you called me a liar. Can you prove it? I already sent your replacements. Do you say "hey, thanks for doing that so quickly, sorry I got so upset"? No, you call me a liar all over again. I wouldn't give you the address because you were acting erratic and I didn't want to put myselfat risk.

he probably had top disassemble it to move it since all three racks were wired together. It probably worked, then he disassembled it. So no its not "impossible." impossible would be single handedly moving three racks that were attached by short cords.

All this is now moot since I've procured replacement parts and mailed them to Dan at my own expense. Frankly, I think I'm owed an apology at the very least.

I took the liberty of photographing both the package and the receipt showing that I shipped it, since you don't believe anything I say. I still want an apology.

Nice job Chris. Would be interesting to know if the $17.00 worth of parts are still in garage when you get home. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Somehow I get the feeling Dan will be somewhat less appreciative. I'll keep the board posted on what I find when I get home.

I just have to put in my two cents as well. WHY IS THIS ON BOI? threw all of these post I dont see one stop where chris told this guy to piss off. He has bin trying to work with dan from the begining. Which not for nothing is the best way to handle this situation. that is what I would want from anyone i trade with if there is a problem lets figure it out. Not scream and yell. I personal have bin dealing with chis for years and I can say I have do tens of thousands of dollars with him. NOT ONE PROBLEM TO DATE. but again i know if there was a problem we can work it out. That is GOOD Buisness. and as for DAN next time breath and act like a gentlemen. If he does not answer your text or emails or phone calls (which we all have had to deal with from other people at one point is out lives) then get mad, then scream, then open a BOI not when they guy is trying to fix it. any one ever wants input on what kind of stand up guy Chris is PM me.

PICS!! Finally thanks to wife

these are some of the pics as promised. this will give you an idea of this mans wy of telling things.

these photos show the inside rear wall of the one rack. again this is just a mess easily cleaned.

the slight discoloration as chris puts this from the heat tape. do these photos indicate to anyone just discoloration?

what say you?

again the rack is still functional, not that big my problem is he said the heat of all three worked and were good to go. simply put they were not when they got here.

why couldnt he just tell me they needed heat? before driving up here hoping i wouldnt notice.

simple matter of principal.

If I tell you im selling an acog 2 years old and the tritium is still good you buy it looks great you go out and use it low light and you see no reticle the tritium has wore off you had it 3 months (keep in mind tritium last a decade or so) how are you going to feel?

Dan,
You keep saying this over and over, that the melted spot and the need to clean the units are not a problem for you, but the missing cords are. So why keep bringing up the dirt and melted spot? Why take and post these pictures? These issues are either part of the problem or you need to drop it. Continuing to harp on what you claim are non issues creates mixed messages, and if the cords and heat tape really are the only problem, then what is your reason for continuing here since he has shipped you those parts, much less keep bring up those non issues, non by your own admission?

You were overly cranky in those texts, IMO and you did not give him time to get home and do as he said he would do, check the garage. Again, this kind of thing has happened to me, and the person that I was dealing/trading with and I worked it out like two adults. You said you started texting him 30 minutes later, so if he is two hours from you, he was still on the road! I would have gotten cranky at a flood of texts from you as well, especially if I had driven that far and was still driving, and I would have expected you to give me time to get home and see if the cords and tape fell out of the unit while I was moving it into the vehicle/trailer/whatever.

Just my opinion.
