In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Give it a rest, fellas. If you had a last name like "Zuchowski" you wouldn't get all uptight about someone spelling your name incorrectly.
Uptight? Hardly. I've had this name a LOOOOOOOOONG time. I hear it mispronounced just about everyday.

There are many who make the honest mistake of misspelling it or thinking that I am of Polish stock. In this particular instance with this particular person, I simply find that hard to believe.

My guess is that somewhere back in the long ago I had a particularly good fisherman of Scotish decent that probably couldn't write and someone named him for what he was good at, catching fish which we now call Pollock.

I suppose I should have just considered th source, afterall, I do have him on ignore but, I already had my waders on so I figured what the heck, may as well teach him ANOTHER lesson, never believing for a moment that he's actually capable of learning it but, feeling as I do about the mentally challenged and that those who can should, I felt obligated to correct his error and save him further embarrASSment when misusing words in public.

Damn my generous nature and caring heart. Nothing but trouble, trouble, trouble.

Seamus, Wes, and anyone else who cares

We sure are lucky Wes isn't black, huh !

It amazes me the times that Fauna is as a room, with a table in the middle. On the table I place a few nametags, some of which are labeled "idiot". Then sit back. Watch and see who comes along and decides which tag looks good on them !

It should not make ANY difference what nationality or race anyone is, no one should ever be disparaged for that. I believe he is Hispanic. If I thought for a moment that this typo was actually a prejudicial remark, I would think less of whoever made any kind of disparaging remark about race or ethnicity.

I would bet that if a poll were taken and people asked to spell Wes's last name correctly without looking, probably half the people who tried would get it wrong........ I've seen Wes's name MANY times, but quite likely would have to look it up myself. :shrug01:

If it makes not difference what race he is why go and say "I believe he is Hispanic"? Right there and then is a label.

It is not something to avoid speaking of, it is a matter though that should not be disparaged.

To continue the unintended hijack of this thread, I simply prefer Wil, which is easy or Wes, which is equally as easy. Anyone using Pollock, in any of its derivitives is probably not on my good guy list anyway.

Now, back to the subject at hand.

The posting of those too cowardly to put ANY name that is legit to their posts and the relative gains to be had by having a place where positive identification was mandatory for entrance.

I still think it would be no bad thing to have such a place.

NO, one can avoid (using that word loosely) labeling of ethnic decent by saying human, American ect.
The fact that you said it like you did goes against your second sentence says.
I just love this if a person is 1/8 or 1/16th Hispanic, that person IS Hispanic!

Is it just my perspective being slightly askew, or does it seem like way too many people are looking for any reason to argue around here lately?

Before anyone gets their feelings hurt, let me clarify that this is not directed at anyone in particular. It's just a general feel that I'm getting from the site lately.

and the band played on.....

Ahh geez, I am guilty today on so many counts. Hijacking this thread and picking at things, lol.
So sorry, just let me say I am in a playful mood and just need to try to keep it in check LMAO

If ever there was a PRIME example of why this site will never maintain decorum, all one needs to do is read the last 10-15 posts........ pathetic really........

Griz

Lucille,
I hope that you know that I was attempting sarcasm. The original missspelling was just that. It wasn't even a "Freudian" slip. Just a mistake "of no consequence".

Among the more laughable things is that while Wes doesn't get all in a knot about it, his waterboy did. Many of us laugh at Wes as he deliberately misspells names so as to be disparaging, such as "loose wheel" and "chumpco", which I am fine with, just so long as he doesn't call me "late for dinner" :). As Wes mentions, "getting back to the topic", my misspelling of his name was in a post where I was taking the position of deriding an antagonist of Wes for the method they had chosen to participate here anonymously, and being allowed to do so, now in the BOI. Back to point, I think Pez should be "plutoed".

I agree completely.
My point (from the beginning of this thread) is that a verified name (verified by paid membership) should be a prerequisite for participation on the BOI.
If some non-members want to have anonymous fun on the other portions of the site, let them knock themselves out.

Did I miss something? Guess not, lol.

Mike Great house: If the non-members want to have anonymous fun on the other portions of the site, let them knock themselves out.

I agree, I do not put much substance in what anonymous posters post. To have substance would be to have a name. No name, well you see my point. :)

hmm well I may have missed that ( I do miss a lot since I do not read everything on here) but I did not know an anonymous was posting on the BOI, just on the side threads.
If that is the case, then I agree that measures should be taken to stop that (on the BOI).
I can also see where one would get tired of trying and nothing seems to work.

Yes, the anonymous Shrillomn is now posting on the infamous Chameleon Counter thread. Although, I can't fault him too much for calling out Mr Northrop.

They deserve each other.

Ahh thank you, I did not happen to read that thread, I have seen it and started to, I just got there late and decided it was too much to catch up on, lol so didn't finish.
If he admitted that he is not who he says he is ( I believe he did) then he has no business going on there, IMO. Even if the guy is bad. My "take him seriously" level would be ziltch where he is concerned on any subject on the BOI. A shame really because he/she seems to be well versed, but I will stick with my stance that on the BOI one must be honest about who they are.

Wow...go away for a few hours and things get do out of hand.

Try "Ohlstein" and the many various permutations of spelling and pronunciation, often as a type of cattle (or a region of Germany). My restaurant reservations are made in the name of James.

PollAck is also a Jewish derivitive of the name
This is true. Growing up we had Jewish next door neighbors by that name. I always thought it odd, but of course those were the days of Archie Bunker (who "lived" nearby) and his rants about anything not like him.

OK, back to your regularly scheduled slug-fest.

Let me play devils advocate here. We all know the Shrill is a fake..... yet how many other posters on the BOI are really not who they say they are?
I believe this is what we are getting at, how to "validate" your identity to get to the BOI and yet do so without causing Rich any extra work or effort or tax consequences?

I will tell you why I came to Fauna originally, it was the drama. I can remember reading things before I became a member and thought this is so much more fun than KS. Real people with "real" interactions, and although I have never made posting or interaction a top priority of mine to fauna. I bet I have been on at least 3-4 times a week seeing whats going on. Have bought animals from people on the classifieds. I believe in Fauna no matter what the rules or the motivation. Let the system work in allowing people to hang themselves, let those who choose to play a double game get called out and dealt with. The drama and the fun is the draw.

There is a system coming that will keep the horses, donkeys and jackasses playing nicely together yet will this system take care of the fake donkeys?

Having the anonymous poster is bunk, mostly because he openly admits and all the world sees he is a fake. What to do about him is the question at hand.
