In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Crestieman - Robert Shays Reptiles

Hey Dennis -- do your mod tools allow you to see classifieds edits? Any way of figuring out if the ad was created as "for sale" and then changed to "sold"? Or was it actually *created* with the "sold" marker?

Its a shame how many bad deals have been going on with cresteds, it seems lately. I love all the crested gecko related forums I visit (I'm stellarawesome at Pangea) and its a shame that I've seen a few threads about crappy sellers recently and even had to deal with one myself.

:NoNo: Someone better be putting his money where his mouth is.

Wow, that is smart thinking!:D

Maybe I'm missing something, but what good would that do him? What would be the point? :shrug01:

Me too, considering the ad was just put up today and there are a lot more geckos listed that are just as nice, if not nicer, for a lower price. Hopefully, if she really is sold, the buyer gets what he/she paid for...

Wonder if he ever spent the $15 on a loupe. Selling animals that expensive, I hope he did!

And no kidding, 250 for an unsexed, or at best "probable female" pinstripe with mediocre structure is quite high, I can't imagine it flying off the shelf like that. It took me over a week to move a 90%, 45g, proven, crowned pin female at $175, and then she went as a trade, not a sale.

Remember, Robert, most crestie people don't consider animals GUARANTEED female until they're 20 grams or more--they're classified as "probable females" if they aren't yet showing pores. You're setting yourself up for trouble, yet again, if you're selling an animal that's statistically capable of developing into a male at this point, as a guaranteed female yet again. It also makes you look like you don't know what you're doing, as the "probable" vs "guaranteed" female terminology revolving around that 20 gram mark is pretty dang standard in the crestie world.

I didn't even think of that! Thanks Diana!

Ansli, I've noticed it too (I'm Reptile_Chick over on Pangea btw). It's sad :(

Eh, if we find out Robert CREATED the ad as marked "sold", it's pretty good proof he's lying about the sale having ever really existed. There's no point in creating an ad for an animal that's already sold, y'know?

Man i thought this stuff only happened in arachnid forums. Lol I dont see him lasting to much longer. Once that kind of buisness starts its all down hill from there. Just sucks the cresteds are the ones who have to suffer from bad buisness.

OK I can get that- if it were created that way it would reflect as an integrity issue, but I still don't understand why bother? What would creating it in the first place accomplish?

Maybe I'm missing something, but what good would that do him? What would be the point? :shrug01:

We THINK *key word* he may have posted that gecko and then quickly marked it as sold as a way to sort of 'flip us off' and 'flip the BOI off' showing that can still 'sell' geckos. Basically just to antagonize.

I took a screen shot of the ad just in case it was a real ad and the buyer ends up with a male (like me) and in the same situation.

I think he's just trying to 'show them' of the people who've said he wouldn't be able to sell again. I can't imagine anyone purchasing that gecko that fast with those big red negative marks under his name.

I'm probably just a dick for thinking that, but oh well. I can't even believe the nerve of that guy.

ROFL if that's what happened and why he did it that's just beyond idiotic- it sure would undermine his ability to REALLY sell it later!

I wonder if he thought marking the thread sold meant it would be locked? So that no one could link his BOI thread into it? (Did Dennis post the link before it was marked sold?)

Yeah, but as you can see he's not the brightest crayon in the box

Dennis posted after it was marked as sold.

What kills me about Katie's gecko is the fact that I saw the pores on my male when he was 7 grams with out a loupe at all!

Its a shame that crested geckos are like a million times easier to sex IMO than snakes and yet people still can't be honest. Either you know what it is or you don't. List accordingly.

Yeah, I'm sure I could have seen the pores on arrival but I didn't want to handle 'her' too much at the time and didn't check until a week or so later. Still kicking myself for waiting.

IDK exactly what he's up to, but I went back and looked and found several other old ads that he went back and edited the same day he first posted in this thread.

I linked this BOI thread to those.

Is he pulling something shady, so he wanted those pics off the forum???

Thanks Laura!

I'm not sure what he's up to...I wish I could view his Facebook, as it seems he kept that pretty up to date. Curious as to who on his FB page know about this.

I know, who wants to have to wrestle around a brand new gecko who's already been shipped and probably tossed around? I mean, we all know just how much geckos -loooove- to let us look at their butts.
