In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy D&M REPTILE RESCUE

I received this email today from animal control
"Thank you for contacting PACC with your concerns. We are currently organizing another inspection with a reptile veterinarian in the near future.
Thank you,
Jose Chavez
Enforcement Operations Manager
Pima Animal Care Center
Phone 243-5913"

yes the money was used to pay the electric bill right know too keep them warm. the iguana is going to the vet later this week. again if you want to talk to me call me at 520-256-7747 and we can talk about my rescue.

Give the torts to someone who can actually care for them. Seriously. REHOME THEM. What you are giving them is UNACCEPTABLE.

I'm glad this is going to be properly addressed. Thank you everyone who saw through the high emotion and drama and took action so these animals can have a hope at a healthier life. I believe there are many ways to successfully house and care for collections of reptiles as pets, rescues or even inventory. These animals do take time and care, most of which isn't as glamorous as our Facebook pages make it out to be.

I'm glad that the reptile community members here are working together to fix the situation rather than just sitting back and saying that's not my problem let someone else deal with it or I don't deal with those reps.
I was involved with a furry rescue for a little while and the fighting between rescues that only deal with certain breeds and their attitudes is what completely turned me off and finally just drove me away from it.

I LOVE HOW PEOPLE TAKE VIDEO OR PICTURES BEFORE THE CLEANING GETS DONE AND THINK THAT IT IS DONE. ALSO THEY DO NOT STAY AROUND TO HELP WITH THE FULL CLEAN AND FEED.THE SNAKES LOVED THE RATS THAT WHERE DROPED OFF. IF YOU PEOPLE WHAT TO HELP WITH LIGHT BULBS, THAT YOU THINK I NEED, DONATE THEM TO US, ALSO IF YOU THINK THE REPTILES NEED TO BE SEEN MORE THEN WHEN THEY ARE CHECKED BY A VET WHEN I GET THEM, DONATE TO ORANGE ANIMAL HOSPITAL UNDER D & M'S REPTILE RESCUE. THE IGUANA WITH THE JAW PROBLEM IS GOING IN THIS SATURDAY. IF ANY OF YOU HAVE QUESTION ABOUT MY RESCUE SERVICE PLEASE CALL ME AT 256-7747 AND WE CAN TALK. THANK YOU DAVID

I rarely post, David.
But in response to your line- "I LOVE HOW PEOPLE TAKE VIDEO OR PICTURES BEFORE THE CLEANING GETS DONE AND THINK THAT IT IS DONE."

The filth and muck build up in the pen you keep those tortoises in DOES NOT manage to accumulate over two days or even a week. If you were keeping up these tortoise pens the way you claim, then the vegetation would not be rotten and slimy. Not to mention how dangerous those twist ties and rubber bands can potentially be to your captives.

You should not be taking in animals that you do not have the means to care for properly. That seems like common sense. When you take an animal in, you become responsible for that beings quality of life. If you cannot afford (in either time OR money) to give that being the life it deserves, then do not take it in.

I'm not saying you're a bad person. You obviously care about these creatures. But it seems you have far more on your plate than you can handle. I have to side with the other members on here saying that you should give the animals that you can't care for adequately to people who can.

Perhaps start by selling the tanks and cages that you are not using.
Then adopt out/ give away the animals that you don't seem to be able to afford to house and feed properly.

I can tell that you want to do good by your animals, but again- don't keep animals that you cannot give a good quality of life to.

Exactly! This video was like thw day after pacc passed it. Not much changed at all. I sgree adopt the animals out. 300 a snake and 700 a tort I fear is a scare tatic to keep people away so you can keep them rather than find them good homes. You have at least a hundred tanks many are expensive yet you let them sit outside and gather dust and weather. Give the animals away with a resonable adopt fee not this 300 stuff or 700 dollar nonsense. Give these animals the life they deserve

Supposedly, according to you, they were cleaned just a few days prior, but that is obviously not the case.

ALSO THEY DO NOT STAY AROUND TO HELP WITH THE FULL CLEAN AND FEED.

YOU are the one who took these animals in and took responsibility for them. If YOU could not care for them yourself, you should not have taken them. Volunteers are great, but you cannot rely on them to do all your work for you. If the work is not done, it is on YOU, not them, to pick up the slack and finish the job.

At this point, David, it is too little too late. You have repeatedly lied about the care you are providing/will provide to these animals. We cannot trust that even with donations you will keep up with proper care and husbandry. You really need to re home these animals to people/organizations who can properly care for them. Once you have done that maybe you can get your place cleaned up and take some time to evaluate exactly what you can and cannot handle before taking in any more animals.

David explain why you kept someone pet and denied you had it? Thats another thing that bugs the heck outa me. A mans lizard escaped, you caught it, then wanted to sell it for 300 but wouldnt let him pay the rescue fee and boarding fee, instead you denied ever having the lizard when someone went undercover to see if you had it, YUP, you had it, and wanted 300 dollars for it. THAT IS STEALING AND WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. Because of this story I am now having my monitor and boa microchipped.

"Ok, I have known David at D&M for over 10 years. I knew him when he started his "rescue" operation. In my honest opinion, he really shouldn't own any animals. I used to deal with him on a weekly basis when he first started running his rescue and you can tell when people actually care for animals and when they just like to say that they have them. He is the latter, unfortunately. One lovely story is a customer of our ( I work at a pet shop in Tucson) was on vacation and came home to find that his monitor (cannot remember what it was specifically) had gotten out of it's enclosure due to the person watching house had forgot to lock it's outdoor enclosure. Apparently while he was gone, one of is neighbors called D&M and told them there was some strange lizard in their backyard and asked them to come get it, which they did. The guy returned 2 days later and came to out store asking about D&M and how to get a hold of them about his lizard ( they would not return his calls and told him they didn;t have it)) since he had recent pics of it (complete with a defining scar) so he could get it back from them. The customer sent one of his friends over to D&M, "undercover", to see if he could see the guys monitor. Yep! It was there....up for adoption for $300. A few days later David comes into our shop and my boss confronts him about the lizard and why he wouldn't give him the lizard back ( the customer was willing to pay for the rescue and boarding it for the few days they had it), but David denied it was our customer's animal and wanted the full price for it. So after all this happened, David stopped coming by our shop and the guy NEVER got his monitor back.....

Charlotte, I commend you on getting the video and dinosaurdammit, kudos for bringing this fiasco to light. -- Derek"

Why did you keep this mans lizard and lie about it? You told me of the story of the lizard a BIT differently, your main excuse even after seeing the pictures was "an animal like that couldnt have crossed the road and no one seen it". Really? I thought it was fishy then and I know it reeks now. How many other animals were people's pets you refused to give back, where did this monitor go? BECAUSE IT WASNT BACK TO HIS OWNER. I have to wonder if you see a tort in someones yard if you "rescue" it.

I got the same blanket email from pacc after I gave a strong email asking why conditions were ok

Doesn't seem like a blanket, blow-off email to me. They plan to return with someone qualified, sounds like they're hoping to build a case to seize the animals and press charges that will actually hold up in front of a judge. Otherwise, they'll have wasted their scarce resources just to have the animals bounce back to D&M to die.

its my fault for not explaining what i ment by blanket and I do apologize, by that i ment they are giving everyone the same email even though we ask questions in it. They ignore and have sent me the exact email. I dont even know if they even read our mails to them, they just see the subject and throw that email back, maybe they really are doing something but I have been so disgusted with their lack of response time and the inability to get in touch with a supervisor even when they transfer me over. I always get either a full mailbox or no one there and no one will return my call. :shrug01:

It would be pretty normal for them not to want to discuss their investigation in-depth with you, though. The ball is rolling, you're trying way too hard to paint people on the periphery as bad guys, or trying to over-sell third party stories and speculation on D&M. Most people are pretty well disgusted by the proof presented and want to help resolve the situation. Breathe and try to not let the emotions overpower your ability to be rational.

Wow, this just got really strange....as if it weren't already. This was just posted on ssnakes.com.

Hi, there, I saw this on Tumblr, I'm from Denver, and I even went out of my way to call this rescue. Mind you, I didn't go in guns a'blazing but I did ask how their animals are being treated. I believe I was on the phone with Melanie Shroyer, who assured me these pictures are not of their animals. Now, I am no way defending her, but I feel like I should post this because that's what she told me. Basically, her gist was they don't know the original poster and had confirmed they have received calls and emails about these pictures, and people come and go to check out their animals.

tumbleruser asked: I should clarify: they said they weren't THEIR animals from the pictures posted on that forum and deny that girl ever worked for them.

OH okay. Still strange.

3 NOTES
tumbleruser asked: I'm on the phone with D & M's Reptile Rescue And Rehabilitation, and they're saying that those are not animals and said the previous volunteer has not worked there. I kept it civil and they said there was nothing they can do about it, but I told them disclaimers exist. They have been getting calls and emails about what is going on about their shelter. I even told them "guys, it's not that hard to check in on reptiles". Make of it what you will :/

…they said that reptiles are not actually animals? That is really scary.

so now these animals are magically not theirs even though there is video and picture evidence AND i was never there- well i am in the weird part of life again because I swear I was there.
