In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Dan Means AKA HerpLover (BAD GUY!!)

Shannon,
Thanks for the story! And thanks for the offer of his paypal info. As of right now I'll just be waiting at the door Wednesday for the UPS truck. Although I won't be holding my breath, that's for sure!!!

Ken,

Did you receive the snakes finally?

Regards.

Alvaro,
We have a shipping date for this Tuesday so I'll let you all know come Wednesday when/if I do get them.....

Ken,

Thanks for replying. Any other contact at all since your las post (03/13)?

Regards.

Alvaro,
Only once when I called him to change the shipping address. Which would have been 3/15. Other than that nothing. So we will see come Wednesday!!

I really feel for you. I just went through and am still going through this crap with Kevin Peters { see post}.

I did find out that, though I do not know how much it will help, in cases such as this, Go to www.ifccfbi.gov.
This is where to place complaints of internet fraud to the FBI.

Kevin Peters has caused alot of greif for my family and myself. But, because of this guy, I have learned alot.
Any failed transaction via internet is a felony. In the case of small amounts of money, your local police won't do diddley. To extradite would cost too much. The other parties' police aren't much better. To sue you have to go to the other parties' town and file. In some cases, if you beg, the police may contact the other party on your behalf. May help, may not. Try anyway.
www.ifccfbi.gov stands for Internet Fraud Complaint Center Federal Bureau {?} of Investigation.
Anyone getting scammed should fill out the forms on this site. Enough similar complaints would warrant more herp scam investigations.
Good Luck, my friend
Michael Parkinson {ZX11}

Michael,
Thanks for the info! That site may become handy come Wednesday if I don't get my snakes....and I also wish you well on your problem as well.....

There's a common misconception about the Internet Fraud Complaint Center, and that is that the complaints filed are investigated by the FBI.

Rather, the FBI forwards the complaint to the appropriate law enforcement agency, which is generally a local PD or SO.

This is true and I failed to mention that. I do apologize. But, the upside is someone will get it. Downside is" What do they do with it?". We do not know............yet. But, do report it.

Well....well..well...Here I sit on Wednesday with no rosy boas and it is now 6PM est. I called Dan last night to get a tracking number and of course I got no answer. I left a message to phone me with any details that he could give me. I still have yet to hear from him...looks like a bad guy after all.....

Dan Means

Well, this is one time i can say I hate being right. I am so sorry that he has done this to you. I had thought he was a good guy until my second dealing with him and he screwed me over. Unfortunatly there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there in this business. Thanks to this board, I have been able to avoid a lot of them. I hope you can get your money back, or get the snakes. It's an awful feeling to have someone take advantage of you. In situations like this, I like to use the old saying "what goes around comes around". He will get his one day.

Where was he shipping from??

Where was he shipping from? Was it Colorado Springs or Lompoc CA?? If it was from California then he definately should have shipped, but if he was sending them form Colorado the snow storm they're having may have prevented it. Either way he should have called and let you know what's going on.

Kim,
Yeah I agree this board has saved many a deal and will continue to do so. I hope i can get my money back, there is a pair of rosys that are for sale here...maybe you have seen them;)

Linda,
I am guessing from CO. Although I really have no idea. I can see that Dan's "customer service" needs a lot to be desired! If he couldn't ship due to a snow storm a phone call would have been all I needed. But nothing at all is just BAD!

Dan Means

Ken,
Did you ever get the snakes from Dan Means or get your money back? Just wondering how things turned out. :(

Kim,
Oh my I can't believe I forgot to update this thread....DUH...I have had a sick son and haven't really been around much for the past few days. I did get my snakes, seems he was snowed in the week prior. I am happy that I got the snakes, but I still feel like I should have been contacted by Dan, and not spent two weeks trying to track him down! They got here the 26th which was 3 weeks later than I had expected...:(
