    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

the deal between debra and jason is just of those situation in which jason shouldve said "screw it" and move on and try to find a "better deal".. He is by far not the first nor last person to have been treated so "rudely" it happens on a daily basis, and people need not to get so offended.

But keep in mind, its not how something is said that can be taken the wrong way.. it's what is said.
 
Let me give you my experience with Debra. I made an offer on a group of 4 Salmon boas including shipping thinking they would be about $75.00 to ship. She called me back & we did the deal. I got the snakes in & they were MUCH larger & even more impressive then I was expecting . They arrived in a 24x14x16 insulated box. The shipping alone was well over $130.00 but she ate it to get the snakes here safely. As for customer service I would say she is one of the best I have ever dealt with, She even offered to help me if I ever needed to get info & paperwork to export & was a joy to talk to. To me this doesn't belong on BOI.

Believe it or not, you are not entitled to shop at Safeway either. If they don't want your business, go somewhere else. :thumbsup: I know it is hard to believe but their is no law that states you must provide service (buy, sell, interact) with jason@beardeddragons.

A better analogy would be if I owned a corner market store and you came into my store and accused me of charging to much and ripping off my customers. I may take the time to explain to you why my prices are what they are or I could send you packing for calling me a thief.

My question or statment about shipping was not ment as an ambigous statment, I was saying, if delta is the same do that, if fedex is less do that. I know that delta dash is more expensive than Fedex so it seemed odd to me that she charges the same for both. My question was aiming to negotiate for what I thought was the actual shipping charges instead of a flat fee. If people who live in the Northwest ask me about discount shipping because we live close I get an actual quote from UPS and charge them that rate...seems fair to me. That is what I wanted Debra to do and she flew off the handle with her "you don't need to call for the dragon" attitude, which was completely uncalled for. Thanks for your oppinion, even though I disagree your stating your oppinion increases the validity of this debate.

I wish I had a happy story of how she treated me great, but she didn't. I am glad you got awesome boas and like Debra, I truely wish I had the luxury of liking her because she delivered the animals she promissed. But she didn't and won't, so I don't blame you for liking her, don't blaim me for not, she did me wrong and I will never do business with her again. Further more if anyone comes to the BOI and searches Deb they will find both sides of her policy and an honest and forthcoming debate on this issue. THis is great for everone and gives the customer the information to make an informed decision. Again I say, see how you like it when Safeway throws you out for asking what time they close.
 
Jason, your wrong about delta dash being more than fedex, you can ship a large box coast to coast delta dash for around $80.00 try that with Fedex priority overnite, Fedex will cost in excess of $130.00

Most of us that ship reptiles absorb part of the shipping costs. I disagree with you wanting to negotiate the shipping costs. why would you even think about discount shipping when shipping live animals, I woud think you would want them in transit as less time as possible?

She did not do you wrong! she decieded not to sell to you.

Delta Dash is not necessarily more expensive than FedEx - no matter how much you try to convince us of that idea. It will depend on the combination of distance, box size, and weight.
When somebody uses a flat rate for shipping, that means that everybody gets charged the same thing. The hope from the sellers' perspective is that they can offer a fair and competitively priced service, and come close to breaking even. Yes, there will be a few times that it is a poor deal for the buyer, but those are usually far outweighed by the times the seller eats the extra costs.
Maybe Debra was a bit abrupt in her response, but I agree with the consensus here that (at best) your attempt to request a lower price was poorly approached...and bringing it here - well, nevermind.

Despite what you think is fair Debra believes her rates are fair. And in my opinion she can charge what she wants to charge. How did you get an exact quote for shipping/ I saw no mention of actual weight. What about the container itself perhaps she takes a little extra caution with her animals and added some weight to the package. Whatever the case she is justified in her rates. If you wanted to make the purchase You should have simply sent payment and been done. How much would you really have saved? Now you are out the dragon you wanted. And to make things look worse on yourself you create a bad guy thread. I have still yet to see anyone say anything even remotely close to Debra is a bad guy or Gal.....Howabout just sucking it up and moving on...

Haven't you noticed that most here see this as a frivolous bad guy thread. Now I don't want to be Ambiguous so I'll state clearly what many have hinted at and others have out right said IE Your making yourself look far worse than Debra!! Ya got that now??

We have 3 pages(or more depending on your settings) of a BOI thread that should never have been started. You accuse Debra of trying to over charge you for shipping and wonder then why she doesn't want to do business with YOU.. Well heck I'd be a bit pissed at you too, some might say she over reacted a little where others will agree totally with how she dealt with you, to each their own.

Jason time to let this go and get those leg wounds you inflicted on yourself taken care of.. Your not doing anyone a service with this thread just a dis service to Debra and the folks who stumble upon this garbage. Randy

As much as you'd probably hate to see this Jason.. But Debra's Pros are out weighing her Cons....

If she didnt want to sell to you, then suck it up and move on. You didnt like the way she treated you, then too bad. This is called business. It happens everyday. you didnt get what you wanted so you acted out so negatively. Seriously, the accusations and misinterpretations can be taken very loosely, but in all honesty, this was rather childish of you as a potential buyer. Its like a 5 year old crying to their mommy because the ice cream man wont sell him a Rocket Icepop for less that advertised.

Unless there was an actual transfer of funds, then neither one of you gained nor loss anything.. plain and simple.

I agree with you in reference to "neither one of you gained nor loss anything". I am glad that everyone joined in on the debate, and no Debra is not a cheat, steal, shipping padder, or otherwise. But she was rude and did something that I am sure no Large Business would ever do, only maw and paw shops would pull a stunt like that. I am used to giving my customers great service and expect the same in return. No matter if they have purchased from me before or not, I treat everyone great and answer all questions asked with integrity and respect.

Possibly I should have named the thread Debra Dillion rude guy or something, but the point stands that I am not happy with her. And I am sure she is not happy with me. By the way yes most say that this isn't worth a thread, however several people understand my frustration with Debra and sympothyse with my situation. That is a rounded even debate that covers all sides of the issues. There was no need to attack me, attack me for what? Because I expect people to be nice, well excuse me for wanting polite individuals to get my Money when I buy something. If you all look in your hearts and put yourself in this situation, you would not be a happy camper either. Kill the messenger why don't you. I didn't say anything that wasn't true or slander her in any way. ONly stated the facts of the email in entirety and my oppinion of how she made me feel when she threw me out of her store. Seems like a simple enough complaint.

I, as well as 90% of the others posting here, took the intent of your email as rude, which it probably was. She simply responded in kind and told you to take your business elsewhere. There was nothing wrong with what she did.

You, however, are a whole different story. The simply fact that your judgement is so lacking as to:

1) Start a BOI thread
2) Label it as "Bad Guy"

tells us a lot about you. Certainly enough information that most of us will think twice about dealing with you in the future. If you're going to blow something like this out of the water then what will your reaction be if the problem is actually legitimate?

When people have "Legitimate" problems like dead animals or broken lights. Most business will and should handle things amicably. I just said it should have been a (rude guy) thread not a bad guy thread. If my judgement is so lacking then why do all these customers say great things about me?

got my baby dragon on Tuesday, and as you guaranteed, she was happy and healthy. I was impressed at how mild tempered she was, even after a long trip like that!!! She let my pick her up, and wasn't scared of me at all, unlike beardie babies that pet stores try to sell. She also eats very well!! Thanks so much, she's very pretty. I'll be ordering from you again!

The dragons looked very nice, even after a long trip. They were also very active, which is also unusual after a long trip. They are set up, and in a 20 gallon tank together, for the first month. Then they will be moved.

As O now I am very please with Dragons, the way they were shipped, and you as a person. I am a pretty good judge of character, and was impressed by the way you handled everything.

Hey, the dragons should be great, I expect these three, to have a lot of potential, and I am thrilled to have more reds, that are totally different, and from different stock than what I already have. I need to start selling instead of keep buying. Yet How could I pass these up!

She's arrived and she's beautiful and soooo red! She ate well soon after she arrived. I put her in with the other 2 babies. She is smaller. She is keeping a few inches away from them. You can post as many glowing emails as you like, but the measure of a "business-person" is how they handle the ones that go wrong, not the 99% of transactions that go right. That's why I made the point about you. You were too quick to come here and whine about someone who told you to take a hike after you accused her of padding her shipping charges.

If you don't realize by now that you are simply digging a deeper hole with each and every post that you make then you are even more dense than I had earlier suspected.

Be a man, apologize to Debra for starting this thread, and move on along.
