    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Derek Beando Dbeando scams

Derek has contacted me in the past regarding buying some of my animals. I am local to him, and if it would be helpful, I'd be willing to help ship his sold geckos out. I'm not sure if that's the issue (not being familiar with how to ship).

Derek, if this is the case, please feel free to send me a PM on here so we can clear this up.

Other than that, I'm not sure the whole "Store credit" thing will hold up in any legal claim suit, as I do not believe he even has any business license or pays taxes on his sales. If he doesn't follow through and return the money, I would take it up with the FBI's website for internet sale fraud. Their website is IC3.gov.

paypal told me it was a no go on the refund if you paid in two parts or more.

:( Did they give an excuse why double payments prevent you from getting a refund? Can you at least get the latter payment refunded?

The address in the court reports was from 2008, so I would say it's more likely you would have luck with the one in Silveretta's texts since it's more recent.
 
they just kept on repeating that they do not deal with down payents or payments done in multiple parts for one item. and they said about the store credit thing. he said he understands my frustration but there is nothing he can do for me, go on that IC3 gove thing or small town court.
 
can the IC3.gov get your money back or is it just one of those "ok we have it on file now thank you'' things
 
Thats pretty lame about PayPal. I'm so sorry to hear about all these folks getting scammed. I was close to making an offer on Vegan Cupcake. I also inquired about a few others he had up for sale recently. I'm SO glad I ended up making other purchases.

I sincerely hope that everyone receives refunds/geckos/compensation. I also hope that all his geckos are OK. I hate to think of an emaciated VC :(

It just really sucks that a long term, known member is doing this to folks. I like to think we honor our agreements with each other on here.

Agreed. This is a really sucky situation. I'm not understanding why Paypal can't help, does not make sense. There has to be justice for you somehow.
 
does anyone know if i make a small town court case, if i have to do it in his town or can it be in my town, idk even where to go with this, im a broke college student and cant afford to lose this much money and have nothing to show for it, idk im just lost now, idk what to do.
 
I purchased Frenchie from Derek Beando in early February for $240 including shipping (copies of PayPal are below). I have not yet received Frenchie. I wasn't overly concerned until I learned of the Vegan Cupcake situation yesterday at which point I texted Derek about it. He has been replying to most of my texts and I am trying to work something out with him so that I can still receive her and perhaps even help get the other geckos to their new homes. He told me he does not have the money to pay for shipping or give me a refund at this time.

I offered to send Derek a pre-paid SYR shipping label (even though I've already paid for shipping) and he agreed to ship Frenchie out to me this week and reimburse me at a later date, but I have not yet decided if I am completely comfortable with that arrangement. I did offer to have the other geckos involved shipped along in my box and then ship them on to their new homes if the buyers would be willing to provide me with pre-paid shipping labels, but he declined my offer. I am upset about this situation just like everyone else, but I hope that by not attacking him perhaps I can help figure out a way to at least get the geckos sent out to their rightful owners. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.




 
i thank you for your efforts, but one thing still is even if we do get all the geckos, 4 or 5 people paid for vegan and a couple other people bought the same geckos to so no matter what someone is in the loss, its not like we all can say you have it monday, ill take it tuesday ...etc, idk, i really dont think he has any intentions on giving up the geckos

Are you getting him at the 508 number or the 978 number? I've tried both and he won't respond to me at all.
 
i just called the barre police,i told them that i will drive 7 hours to get there to pick up vegan cupcake and anyone elses geckos that they wish for me to pick up. the person said once an offericer comes to the station they will give me a call.

I understand what you are saying, and it is very unfortunate that not everyone will be able to receive the gecko they have paid for. However, I do think that getting the geckos shipped out would be a good first step towards solving the problem, and would also demonstrate his willingness to work toward solving the bigger financial problem. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to help resolve the financial mess, but if there is a chance that I can help get the geckos re-homed then I feel a certain obligation to at least try.
 
Hello all, I too have purchased Vegan Cupcake and another crested female. This Derek is a real winner. I Spoke to him all last week, we agreed on 700 shipped, and he said he would ship the following week. My weather was great so I thought this was odd. So I said I would pay him 300 then the balance the day before he ships. Once I sent the 300 on 3/20 he contacted me the next day and said the weather looked good on his end and please send the balance so he could ship on Monday. I texted him and said what changed since yesterday. If it was good today it was good yesterday. This is when alarms started to go off. That's when I said I would send the balance if he shipped that day Wednesday 3/21, He agreed. That night I texted him to confirm that he had indeed shipped the animal. I did not get any response until a few hours later from supposed his Uncle, whom informed me that Derek got into a terrible accident and was in ICU and "to say a prayer for him." That's when my suspicions were really confirmed. I could not reach Derek or his Uncle for two days, so on Friday morning I filed a dispute with PayPal and called to have a representative "Escalate" the case. Low and behold 5 minutes later I received a text from him telling me he was just released from the hospital. He went through a lengthy apology and explained how I have locked up his PayPal account because of my dispute. He further explained that because PayPal froze his account he is not able to ship out geckos to others. I felt guilty because of my seeming insensitivity and cancelled my dispute with PayPal. Now that he has evidently pulled out his money from the unfrozen PayPal account he has yet to answer one single text or phone call since I cancelled the dispute. I logged into FaunaClassifieds to night and immediately saw his name and this thread!!! What a shocker! But my senses were telling me this was a scam since receiving his pushy emails, I should have listened to my gut. I have re-opened my case with PayPal. After I explained my situation they said as a one time favor to me they will re-open the dispute. FYI to all PayPal does not cover your money if it is for purchase of animals......
 
Ok, If the police officer says they can escort you to pick up the geckos, why would you get ownership of Vegan Cupcake? 5 people have claims to the gecko.

Just food for thought.... Sorry I know its kind of off topic, but seems a relevant question.
