    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

They must have stolen his phone too considering there were texts and phone calls!
 
His voice must have been stolen, he sure sounded the same every time i talked to him. We all paid for a specific animal, his store credit or future babies offer is no good here. I can sell u a $600 specific, beloved gecko, then tell u its already sold but u can have another baby from my $25 petco special breeder pair. Haha, nice try buddy.
 
Has anyone talked to him or got any sort of refund from paypal. His posting on the website is a joke, seems like he is trying to cover himself. There are so many inconsistencies with his story that his post on his website is going to hurt him more in the long run.
 
My credit card company is currently doing an investigation on it all. I've called him countless times, emailed, texted.. He's answering nothing.

Good news to those who had conducted business with Derek Beando. The investigation has come to a fruitful end. Unfortunately, I can't give out many of the details of the investigation or its outcome. I will contact the victims over the next week to make arrangements individually. For all who have or will conduct business via paypal, I would suggest that you become VERY familiar with the limitations of Paypal's protections, look at your funding sources and see if a credit card would be a more appropriate funding source as they may offer protection where Paypal does not. Take time to research the seller, not only onsite, but in ebay, craig's list, and dont forget to "ask the googles". Most people are honest, trustworthy people and want to believe that others are as well. There is that 10% everywhere that leaves a foul taste, however. Thank you all for your input and assistance.

ok guys, our hero got the geckos!!! he doesnt know who each gecko is though, he said if a gecko was bought twice then it goes to the first person who bought it, so Kristy, if vegan is there, she is yours,
now with everyone else who purchased a multiple bought gecko will get baby geckos from his collection equal to approximately what you paid, now, if everyone is ok with this, i can pick them all up on Wednesday, and ship them out at your convenience, um, i guess we will do it this way we can either send me a prepaid box, or im ordering boxes after this just incase you want to just send shipping money through paypal, i really cant help with shipping because I spent all my money on vegan and the rest will be gas getting the geckos lol,
when i get the geckos, i will take pictures of all the geckos and post them and we can all just pick from them, idk if i would post it here or on Pangaea though just so it can be nicely organised and not making this thread as long

I apologize to the folks who have to run the BOI and Fauna but that kind of thread would not be appropriate for Pangea since it falls in line with the "issues with breeders/dealers" rule. I think everyone who was involved has spoken up here in this thread as far as we know? If it is against the mods' wishes here to discuss who gets what, I can make a spot on my own site for you to upload the pics and you guys can hash it out in group e-mails or something. Let me know if I can help.

I hope everyone can come to an agreement - I know this is going to be difficult because for someone expecting a breedable female gecko, having a handful of babies you'll have to raise up and/or sell to get compensation is not always thrilling.
 
Wow, thanks Cpl Ury, resolutions like this are almost never herd of in this field. I never did business with Derek but outcomes like this serve as a deterrent to future scam artists. Most of the time law enforcement is never involved with this stuff and people have to fend for themselves.

Its good to know that officers like yourself take interest into problems like this. Even to go as far as to post on here and find out whats going on speaks a lot. Thank You and am glad for everyone who got scammed by this guy.

Did he happen to say how they're doing? And I'd be happy to have a baby (or anyone who doesn't have a buyer that needs a home, if you guys are overrun. I foster locally anyway). I will send all the pictures I have of my two if necessary. I hope they're there. :( I hope none of them are in bad shape, too.
 
no, he didn't say how they were, all he said was that there was a couple adults and alot of juvies, pics do help, because i dont know the name to gecko, but I know you got the two yellowish tigers right?
 
So no criminal charges are going to be filed? If it was me I wouldn't settle for baby cresties and I sure wouldn't be willing to pay for shipping a second time. I would be contacting the prosecuting attorney.

Problem is that, quite often, it (i.e. threads/cases, on the BOI, and the like) is a civil matter. Thus, Law enforcement have their hands tied since they do not deal with civil matters. This appears to be something not often understood.
However, if it includes a criminal act, LE can do something.

'Course, with each human being their own individual, there are some officers that may not wish to do the work it takes or to go the extra mile (even in a criminal case), but, luckily, there are other officers who will do all they can to have justice done ... no matter the work involved, no matter if the case is big or small, etc. Cpl. Ury appears to be the latter.:thumbsup:
 
So glad to hear that some geckos were recovered. Are there any left in Derek's collection or are all of them now with someone else just waiting to be given to their buyers?
 
If Corporal Ury is going to be contacting the victims, there isn't much more to do on this thread other than posting individual resolutions. If there will be no cooperation from Mr Beando regarding identification of the geckos, I don't see a problem with that being done here, as part of the resolution process - with the caveat that this is the BOI, and there are some things that cannot happen: particularly offers and claims on animals which have not already been purchased, and the multitude of extraneous comments that would come almost naturally from such a process (in other words the rules for posting on the BOI will be strenuously enforced).
