In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy DO NOT deal with JAMES EARL !!!!

I have to row against the waves here. I would have been pissed as well. Any way you could get the buyer to post here, Bryan? I'm wondering if the house was empty when the buyer showed up. Also I found it unacceptable that the seller claims to have had no time to contact Bryan while his kool-aid soaked phone was ,what, being fixed, or drying out on a shelf somewhere? Meanwhile James Earl was PMing another buyer, at which point he could have PMed Bryan while his fingers were still dancin' round the keyboard and saved him the trouble of arranging to collect the snakes. Extremely inconsiderate James. Also, I don't believe the "brother" story for a second.

Actually, you are wrong again. If you read the thread, you would realize I had already purchased the snakes BEFORE he stated his phone crapped out. Attention to detail buddy.

This thread is pretty pointless, and also stated by others. The seller sold the items and animals on a first come first served basis. All i have i t say is quit crying over spilled milk! someone beat you to the punch, leave it at that! Your not the first person for that to happen to, and your definately not the last.

Now, knowing the details of him having to move, and the lapse in time between contact (Mon-Thurs), it is VERY likely that he moved before you made your trip out there so your allegation of a phony address has no ground. Not to mention, you never made contact with him to verify if the address is still good before you drove out there, so claiming he gave you a phony address is a BOLD statement. I bought the stuff that was holding up his move so how is it unlikely that he moved after I purchased the enclosures?

Sorry, my mix up. That was directed to Nicole Strauss claiming Bryan was given a phony address:

The OP and I are not the only ones given this abandoned house address either.

Bryan did not give ANY holding deposit on the lot, nor did he give an exact date and time regaurding when he'd be there. And like Nick has stated, he purchased the animals prior anyway. Also, here is my question ... Bryan didn't speak with James days prior to him going to the location to make sure the deal was still on. He just presumed that he would be their, i'm sorry but that is not Jame's fault, it's Bryan's. This whole thread was started because someone beat someone else out on a great deal. In what way does this warrant a bad guy thread? If it does, well then there is going to be alot more bad guy threads just like this.

Incorrect.

This was the same location I went to and the house was occupied. In fact, when we were packing the snakes, one was lost and James found it maybe a week later so he was at this address after Bryan had been there.

Focus yourself there Focal. I didn't aver that the house was empty, I simply said I wouldn't be suprised if it was.

huh whu?

Posted by James Earl... "Now your right that is partly my fault as my daughter dropped my cell in a glass of grape kool aid so i have not talked to anyone in 2 days. Why you would have driven all the ay down without even talking to me in 2 days is a little odd to me but i can't say i feel responsible for you not using common sense. Now since i had not talked to you i got a PM and the man wanted to by them he showed up and i sold them and i'm not going to feel bad about it either." Attention to detail? He claims he didn't have a phone. He took your PM and could have PMed Bryan RIGHT THEN AND THERE! Again, focus yourself, Focal.

Seriously? Someone is suppose to call everything off with a prospective buyer because another prospective buyer sent him a PM?

I'll break it down for you. He talked to Bryan ON THE PHONE Monday. I PMed him Monday. I called him Monday. I bought everything Monday afternoon. Somewhere between the Monday that I bought everything, he states his phone broke, BEFORE Bryan tried to call him on Thursday. I was not PMing James about the cages on Thursday when Bryan was contacting him. The deal was done.

Am I the only one here that DOES NOT chase down everyone that inquired to my ad to let them know I sold everything when it's gone?? I have not seen ANY documention that states James was holding this stuff for Bryan and Bryan only.

James had many issues with transportation and being out of time, but we were finally able to work out a date - Aug 28th. On that date, he said he had the $150 for the snake..... EXCEPT he had spent $25 on pizza. He also said he wanted to buy a rattlesnake from me. So, I compromised and told him that we could give him the coral cobra for $125. When he wanted the rattlesnake, we would settle it for $75.

Sounds like he haggled and You agreed to drop the price $25 to make the sale. There is no money left owed to You on this deal IMO.

I don't understand whats up with James Earl/Brian Lee. Seems like he just likes to give people the run around. I see no truth to his claim that he has the four snakes he sent me pictures of... so why offer them to me for free?
James Earl/Brian Lee is a pathological liar. If you want to waste your time and money, by all means, deal with him.

He was GIVING you the snakes for FREE so what money were You wasting in dealing with him exactly?

Venomous keepers are a small usually tight knit group of keepers and from Your actions on this thread it is YOU Nicole that would be blacklisted by me as a person to not do business with and not James or his brother Brian.

Even IF there was still $25 left owed it is a pittance between friends/acquaintances dealing in snakes, usually it is worked out in the next transaction between the two parties. It is low class to go onto a worldwide forum and bash one of Your fellow local venomous keepers over a $25 discrepancy especially when there isn't one in the first place.

As to the OP. Sorry that You drove 50 mins and nothing was waiting on You but really it is Your own fault. Do You generally show up to peoples house unannounced?

Many things can happen in two days. Kid gets sick, the person gets called into work, death in the family etc... While I agree that James should've called after he sold the animals, The 50 min drive for nothing is all on You.

First off, I live an hour away from anything and second I can see now that a mans word means nothing anymore. Im really not that upset about not getting the deal, what im upset about is the lack of courtesey and the lies that James Earl is still telling folks that he is at this same address that I know is empty. The phone call that I had with James ended with me thinking I was good on the deal, I had no idea he was selling them to the first guy at the doorstep. But like I already said in eariler post, my fault. Slipmattic is only commenting because he wanted some of the snakes and I wouldnt sell to him anyway. Dont even know why he is commenting on this post anyway being he is such a joke in the reptile industry and a local failure. I just want one answer to this whole post, WHY IS JAMES EARL GIVING FOLKS THE SAME ADDRESS TO A VACANT FORECLOSED HOUSE ??????!!!!!!!

I cannot speak on the recent accusation, but as far as I remember, just because a house is foreclosed, does not mean he is not allowed to come and go from that property until after the house has been resold and the new owner properly evicts him or does the "cash for keys" thing. Unless anyone here knows exactly where he is in the eviction process, any accusation of a phony address has no grounds. Who's to say he or his brother no longer have items there?

WOW, I was there ! The house was empty ! I also talked to the real estate agent that told me the house was foreclosed. You dont get to "visit" your EMPTY foreclosed home. Focal X, you picked up the snakes and cages from what address ?

Yes, yes you can. After the house has been foreclosed, the new owner must file an unlawful detainer warrant. There are several days for the occupant to receive a court date and then many more for the court date to arrive. This can take up to 30 days. If the judge rules in the new owners favor, they are given an additional 10 days to move out. If they don't move out, the new owner has to start a eviction process with the sheriff and they have up to 30 days before they serve them.

I honestly cannot remember the street number, but it was on Wickwood. If you want to get me the street number, I will google map it and tell you if that was the house I went to. It was on the corner of Wickwood and a circle court I believe. Brick house with a garage perpendicular to the street.

I'm not trying to get in it with you. I know you no more than James. I do know that I and another member here did not have the problems you and your friend have had. Please understand the skepticism, it does seem a wee bit weird that you and Nicole both had the same problem, both wanted to deal with James on a great deal that didn't happen, and you both know each other and this wasn't revealed until she was questioned about it.

There were also details in the PM you sent to me following this transaction that expressed your fustration in a manner that would probably not make James want to see you again face to face... which is what your friend is trying to achieve. I do not have this PM since it was deleted, but I'm sure it's in your sent box since you use fauna very little. I'm sure you can go back and read this and understand why certain questions are arising.

We had no issues. I believe the house was on Wickwood as well Nick. I didn't personally go but that sounds about right from what Miles said. It was a first come first serve, we contacted him, we wanted, we went and got as soon as he said it was convenient for him. If a deal sounds good, we cancel all plans to make it happen and we do EVERYTHING necessary to make sure the deal is sealed whether it be down payment or something... a general word of "yea ___ day works" but no time or any other information isn't really sealing a deal...

Sounds to me that some others are bitter they missed out on the deals we got. To those, I am sorry but move quicker next time... if someone is in a rush to sell and you do not make a transaction official/final then that is on you. If I held EVERYTHING that someone was interested in (herps or not), I might not ever sell anything. If a buyer says "I want to come right now" I will make it happen, less things to hold on to and less stress of dealing with other potential buyers that may indeed flake out as well.

We will continue to do business with James in the future as he was a nice person to deal with. Hopefully everyone can see the good posts that have been posted for people that have dealt with James.

After some digging, I found out the house ACROSS the street from James' house is the only house on that street that I was able to find any foreclosure history on. I'm not sure of his status so I will let him speak on that if he chooses, but according to google, there is no foreclosure on the house I picked the cages up from.

Nick, yes we did move but not until after all of this happened. Thanks to you and Stephanie for the deals we have had and i look forward to working with you in the future.

take care

First of all, the agreement was $150 for a CB11 coral cobra. Shortly before meeting, he stated that he had to buy pizza for his kids and was a little short. We had a second agreement to sell him a prairie rattlesnake in the near future, so I agreed that he could give me the $25 balance when he picked up the prairie. In the course of the original coral cobra sale, he mentioned that he had these other snakes and asked if I'd be interested in trading. I agreed to the trade and to forget the $25 BECAUSE OF the trade. As I stated before, it turns out the pics he sent of "his" snakes we're copied from the Venomland forum. Messages to the OP's of those pics verified that the snakes were NOT even in the USA. This alone is fraud. James still has not addressed how his "brother" used his phone. I spoke with and texted "Brian" on this number. ANYONE who has doubts, feel free to contact me and I will come meet you to show you in person the ORIGINAL texts and emails. I was given this same address, about a MONTH after James said he moved out and it was indeed empty. There is recently new info of yet another local being defrauded by this same person...its only a matter of time before the truth comes out, and any of you that are intentionally lying for your buddy will be called out as well. I'm a live and let live kind of person, but multiple questionable dealings are reason for an inquiry. I know what was said to me and what happened to me, I WILL see this through and make sure that when its all figured out that everyone knows the outcome. On another note, James, since you say he's tour brotherwould you be able to provide me with current contact info or at least his full name so that I may be able to contact him regarding my $25?

I'm assuming these "other snakes" are the ridgenosed rattlesnakes You referred to in Your first post.
Ridgenosed rattlesnakes(Crotalus willardi ssp.) are protected throughout their range (and have been for 20 years). I have not personally seen any for public sale in about 12 years and that was a lone male and the asking price was $1200. I bet You would forgive $25 for a pair of $1200 dollar snakes.
