In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Evan Stahl

So as you guys can see in the posts that the op was kind enough to post, that I told him I did not have his money a dozen times and keep in mind on top of the messages he then called my house 5 times in an hour, I told him to stop calling that he was harassing me and what did he do? Right, he called again. Then he went to the better business bureau. This is a petty guy, who at the least, if you believe him "accidentally" filed a fraud complaint against me and yes you are damn right I got angry for being falsely accused of committing a crime, you all would.

James Nolan, he was supposed to be available for me to ship them, I both messaged him and called him telling him that I was shipping the animals as well as forwarding the tracking info via ups to him all prior to shipping. That is how he knew to call me back and tell me that he would refuse to accept them and let them die if I shipped them.

On 12/18/2012 I left town for the holidays and was going to be gone for awhile so although I wasn't able to get through to him over the telephone I had my bank submit a charge back for "items unsent" one 12/19/2012 while in ohio( I live in Sacramento Ca) I received a notice from UPS that there was a due for delivery the following day. I called Evan and had the package stopped.

Also so it is clear, I processed the chargebacks only after UPS notified me I would be receiving a package to my house and only after calling Evan to tell him I wasn't home and having him void the shipment.

Well Gee Troy seeing as the op has now posted 5 or 6 times that he filed the chargeback as a fraud charge answers your questions, but here is a note I got from paypal as well

Hello Evan Stahl,

We were recently notified that one of your buyers filed a chargeback and
asked the credit card issuer to reverse a payment made to you on Dec 2,
2013.

The buyer claims that this purchase was made without authorization to use
the credit card. Their credit card issuer needs additional information from
you about this transaction.

I guess if it were me, I would be asking PayPal how it happened that I got confidential credit card info through their services in order to make that unauthorized charge. :notallthe

I never accused Evan of defrauding me, that is not the reason for the charge back. However my bank had already processed their mistake and after haggleing with them to get it corrected the end result was me signing a affidavit swearing that the chargebacks where filed incorrectly, which is why pay pal changed the coding on the disputes to reason 22 when they closed them and didn't file them closed as reason code S5. My bank reversed the $75 chargeback on the 3rd of this month so with the chargeback reversed the money will go back to evan. According to their website the other one should be reversed roughly some time in the middle of next week. How long it takes for them to transfer the funds to Evan via pay pal after that I don't know. Based on the transaction reversal on my account they won't be covering the $20 pay pal fee for the charge backs being issued on the 18th. If Evan sends me a refund when he has received the reversals I would have problem receiving them -$20 per transaction to cover the fees associated with the initial chargebacks.

. UPS notified me in advance that a shipping label had been created and that I had a incoming package. I called Evan twice to make sure the snakes hadn't been shipped left one or two voice mails and then he called me back. When I got him on the phone I informed him I wasn't able to receive the snakes being as I was in Columbus Ohio and being as he had mistakenly sent me and was about to send me a package without first verifying that I would be home to receive it I told him I would be going after a refund. After hanging up I faxed the charge back dispute forms to my credit unions visa department. When the forms where submitted they where submitted to paypal as a charge back code s5 it originally stated it right on the charge backs on pay pals website. When I contact the credit union and told them to correct it, they informed me they had filed a police report with Detroit and that they and pay pal where investigating it and they were unable to make any changes to the status of the chargeback. I was told by my bank that " they're only human and mistakes happen" at which point they recommended I filed to candle the charge back if I wanted the matter dropped being as their investigation into it was bs to begin with.

Like I said I submitted it as merchandise unsent, I had no reason to accuse him of fraud that would only complicate the refund. Under a code 30 the two parties would've questioned him about having sent the merchandise and asked for a delivery confirmation. At that point Evan not having a signed delivery confirmation it would've been case closed.

So many mistakes here, on both sides of the line. Still, from what I understand the OP is more upset with Evan's reaction than anything. If what you say is true, and a report was filed with Detroit PD, then I fully understand his reaction to this particular transaction. A criminal record attached to your name for bogus fraudulent charges would incite the worst in many of us.

Please correct my assumption if I am wrong.

Well...now all that anyone has to do is go back a few pages in this thread and get all the information they need, since OP posted his card number and other relevant details.

Joseph I have to say to bad. YOU should be responsible for this when all is said and done NOT evan. No sympathy for this. You filed a charge back with Paypal you should have waited. You should have contacted and requested Evan to refund you your money. I wonder how things would have been resolved if you instead contacted Evan prior to filing the charge backs? I bet you would not be here. If anything Evan is out the $$ for the shipping that he had to stop and have reshipped back to him I am pretty sure he doesn't get a refund for that. He's out the shipping for the spiders and the spiders since all died, but that is on HIM for his error.

In my mind it looks like YOU need to be patient and wait for the cluster to be resolved which is all your doing.

I do ask this though, if you knew you were going out of town for a long period who would be caring for your animals? You weren't going to travel huge distances with a newly acquired animal that had just went through the stresses of shipping were you? Wouldn't you want to watch your animal for issues yourself if you were going to leave it in the care of someone else? I bet if you NICELY said to Evan "hey, I'm not home I cannot accept the animals, you did not contact me to check my availability for shipping", I'm sure he would have held onto your animals for you until you returned home and you could have received your animals while you were home and be able to watch them and make sure they were ok from shipping.

All this is my $0.02 but I figured I would share.

I had request Evan give me a refund on the 10th, he refused told me he doesn't give refunds for no good reason. I filed the chargeback with my bank not with pay pal. I only did so after UPS told me I had a inbound package that I was never informed would be arriving at my house which Evan is well know for doing. I am done with this thread I posted what I needed to if Evan feels like making it right he will if not its on him.

Done with this thread?! If Evan wants to make it right?!

You started this thread! It seems your not happy with everyone's opinion. You keep dodging a few questions that are relevant to this thread. Speaking of this thread, it in all reality should have never been started. It actually makes you look bad, not Evan.

There is nothing Evan needs to do to make things right, you caused this mess! You need to make things right for him, period!

Not at all, the money is being sent to Evan. When it arrives he can either message me and we can work it out or he won't there isn't nothing more I can do.
I work for a bail bondsman and told him I couldn't guarantee to be home without prior knowledge that the animals were going to be sent. I have done everything I can to prove to him that I never accused him of fraud. I have showed him the transactions beginning the reversal process. He hasn't receive the funds but he will, what he chooses to do with them at that point is up to him. I signed away all possible means of re covering any of my money when I signed those papers putting a end to the actions taken by my bank. My attempts to contact him and work out a solution and explain what happened were met with hostility and insults.

Joeseph - . Could you shed some light on this accusation?

The only accusation I have against Evan, is that he ships animals without informing the buyer when he will be shipping them. I told him on the 10th when he didn't want to give me a refund, that was fine but to be certain to give me atleast a days notice so that I could make sure someone was here to receive the package. I received no such notice from Evan Stahl. I received a text from UPS saying that he has created a shipping label and that I had a inbound package. I got ahold of Evan, made sure he didn't let the package leave michigan and then filed for a refund.

Thanks for that, Joeseph. I guess I misread...to me, it looked like you were saying that he had a history (or a habit) of shipping without notifying the recipient.

From what I gathered on this forum Later Rob he has done it to quite a bit, I do know he lives where winter weather conditions are adverse and understand that he can only ship when the weather permits it. However I had explained to him, I am on call pretty much 24/7 and can't make arrangements for someone else or myself to be home to receive the package unless I know what the seller is planning to do in regards to the date of the shipment. If Evan had been the one to let me know the package was on its way instead of ups I would've simply told him to hold it. However that was the 2nd time he had sent a package to me in a matter of two weeks without first verifying with me and communicating that the animals would be on their way and when dealing with live animals I find that unacceptable.

Sofa king I honestly hope he contacts me when the reversal process is complete. I didn't realize the chargebacks had taken the extra $20 per transaction or I would've filed with pay instead. However me putting foot to @$$ to have his name cleared with my bank and pay pal had absolutely nothing to do with the people on this forum or their opinions. I deal with people daily who run because they have done wrong and they themselves know they're quilty. There was no way I way I was going to stand for allowing my banks screw up to process any further.

I tried to talk to the man and work this all out before making this post because I honestly didn't want it to come to this. However I don't feel this post will hold anything negative against him unless the matter goes unresolved.

Actually, he posted several times he DIDN'T file the chargebacks as a fraud charge, and posted the forms SHOWING he didn't file them as fraud.

The note from Paypal says the reverse payment request was made to the credit card issuer.

So, my question has now been answered. You ASSUMED he filed them as fraud with his bank, because that's what his bank told Paypal.

Any appearance on the BOI other than a 100% positive response will affect future business. I've been burned here and even a one-time question on a seller's integrity will make me wait to buy in person.
Hopefully every single $ is managed/reimbursed between both parties, bank charges etc so it's "only" been a huge investment of time and emotion. An 8 page BOI on a seller surely isn't going to result in a positve result impact upon future business, nor even a neutral impact.
Good luck to both of these fellows.
