Thank you all for proving me right
Since you seem to want to turn yet another thread about me let me provide those of you that wish to do so with clarification and correction because you are just wrong and your mistakes are starting to spiral out of control.
Fact 1 of many – I NEVER said that I’d been breeding for 25 year, I said I’ve been keeping balls for 25 years – you will notice there is a difference, you will also notice that my questions would only be considered newbie for a breeder not a keeper. You will also notice that I only answer questions about basic husbandry and genetics not about breeding because I stick to what I know. Occasionally I do throw in a question when I see a lot of people doing things differently than what I was told should be done many years ago like feeding during shed or double checking someone’s procedures to see if I’m going overkill as I tend to do. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy flaming schedule to check up on me, next time you may want to make sure you are using said information, to support your argument, not mine. In short, your little assumption that I don’t know what I’m doing or that I’m lying or carry some agenda is WRONG. Be a man and own the mistake.
And since you keep bring up the Katie thing let me restate this in the simplest possible terms so that even a 5 year old could understand it.
First of all Harrison was proven to be a phony before Katie even hit the scene there is no way in hell that his “Hets” will prove and I’ve stated that a thousand times before Katie even hit the scene. When I saw Katies first Reptibid ad even though I was in the market for a Het Pied female, I didn’t touch it cause it was a Harrison Het. clearly fake.
And then I received two emails from friends stating that they’d gotten calls from this person who thought they’d gotten ripped off and their story was similar the one Katie was spewing on Reptibid. I laughed and assured both of them that I wasn’t going to touch the Harrison Hets because I believed they were fakes. I decided to post on the BOI just incase someone else was tempted by the price of the “hets” and did not bother to search under Harrisons name to find out he was scamming too.
So Katie goes through a couple of weeks of getting batter and decided to sell the snakes at normal prices, if you look back at that auction you will see that I among others clearly stated that the snakes were nothing but normal and that to buy them thinking they were anything but normal would be foolish. When people were pushing Katie to guarantee that they were hets I was one of the ones that told her that would be a big mistake that they were nothing but normals. If you look back at the original Katie thread you will see that I purchased “normal, feeding, females” and that all I want was “normal, feeding females” And that Katie guaranteed me that I would receive normal feeding females. For those of you who think that I was hoping to score a deal, you’ll notice that I wanted “normal feeding females.”
You will also notice that when she decided to sell them as normals many people tho skeptical were willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, because there was no solid proof she was anything be someone that had gotten scammed by Harrison. Our transaction could have gone several ways:
1. Katie sends me normal established females – I’m happy, she gets good guy points from me.
2. Katie does not send me normal established females, but makes good on her guarantee to me, mistakes happen, she keeps her end of the bargain, she still gets good guy points
3. Katie does not send normal established females, does not make good on her guarantee and does not return my emails. She gets bad guy points from me
Katie chose to go route number 3. I pulled the snakes out of the box and took pictures and weighed them they were all fresh hatches, complete with umbilicals not even thru their first shed, the biggest one weighed 48 grams (not exactly established, but I was willing to let that go for the time being). I stuck them in their tub for a warm up, emailed Katie and told her they arrived, but since they were cold and stressed, I was going to give them a couple of days to settle in before I sexed them, she was fine with that. Two days later, I pulled them out and sexed them, I emailed Katie and told her they were not what she guaranteed, and asked her to make good on her guarantee and have not heard from her since.
I filed a complaint with paypal and my cc company. I’m lucky, I’m 100% covered on my card so if the funds aren’t recovered thru paypal my cc company will cover me, I've got I think two more days left. You see, I have no reason to “whine” as you say because I was in a win, win, win situation. There was no chance or gamble for me, it wasn’t stupidity on my part, I made sure that I could not loose. That whole "whining" thing was your made up BS - own it.
Now for those that didn’t get anything, or got sick, dead, tick infested snakes or “gravid females” that were less than 1000 grams or male, the people that have no means of getting their money back, those people are the ones that were looking for answers and the BOI failed them miserably. Too afraid or embarrassed to post, or just plain not wanting to sift thru all the childish BS to get to pertinent information that the BOI could have provided. Decided to handle it off the board.
So you count how many wrong assumptions you made in that whole scenario. How you wronged those that needed help (I’m not counting me but standing up for the others).
Now I know you are going to rip this apart to, it’s just your nature but the reality is that anyone who followed the whole Harrison/Katie thing from start to finish can easily verify that this is all true and it’s there on the board for you to look at. Look at it without your twisted prejudice and you’ll see that there is nothing but truth in what I say. You can make me out to be the bad guy, it’s not going to bother me in the slightest, if anyone want to do a search on my name, then so be it, but they’ll find nothing but your ridiculous comments.
You know it’s great to stand behind a cause, but make sure what you are fighting for is true not someones made up or twisted version of the truth. There are normal people in the herp community without an agenda – I am one of them, as many can attest to.
So I’ll leave you with this:
People who possess a certain quality -- especially a bad one, such as deceitfulness -- are quick to see this quality in others. Psychologists call this projection. You see it all the time. Husbands cheating on their wives are quick to see deceit in their wives' behaviors, even if the wife's behavior is nothing more than arriving home 15 minutes late from the grocery store. People guilty of a certain action often accuse another of that very same action; it seems to calm their guilt and help them pretend that they're innocent. May be some people on the BOI need to re-examine themselves before they flame more innocent people.
