Does anyone have any recent feedback about Ryan Trude from Pennsylvania? I see that he does have a username RyanT on Fauna (and an older one.. pitbullophis). I was interested in a hog island female he currently has up on ReptiBid but I'm concerned that it might be one mentioned in other posts on here that may have had a neurological disorder... ?

In any case, if you have good/bad feedback, please let me know.

Anyone?

What I've dug up so far doesn't look promising. Ryan sent me two jpgs of the hog in question that I couldn't open, and said he got her from Dave Derrick of East TN Reptiles 6 months ago and said to contact Dave as a reference.... lo and behold Mr. Derrick has a horrible reputation on Fauna.

So most of what I've seen has not been good so far, please do let me know if any of you have had redeeming experiences. :>pokeball

Actually, I think Ryan is making a concerted effort to turn himself around.

I would ask him for recent references, and see what you find out.

If Ms. Terese says so then I would be inclined to believe her, however, anything that has dave derrick involved in it I would seriously avoid.

Ryan's had various issues in the past. In all fairness however, it does seem that he's been making a good faith effort to turn that reputation around as of late. If it were me, I'd feel fairly comfortable going ahead with the transaction.

Wes Pollock??

Hi Wes. Who are you? Have we ever met, done business? Could you please provide some proof that would justify you advising someone to RUN AWAY from doing business with me? I know you can't because I have no clue who you are. I don't even have any idea what kind of animals you work with. The only recognition I have of your name is that you post on just about every thread on this board. I did a search for your name and it automatically stopped at 100 so that means your name is attached to more than 100 threads. Busy guy aren't you, or wait maybe not so busy? You have 2,178 posts to date, I believe. You opened your Fauna account in May of '02. I did a little math, that averages out to 2.1 posts per day. So what that boils down to is that you take advantage of every chance you get to bad mouth people you have absolutely no connection to. Which realistically makes your word absolutely worthless. So why should anyone listen to what you have to say? It's too bad someone like you is such a prominent force on this board. You take away from the integrity of the system.

I admit, I have had 2 whole bad occurances that were publicly played out on this forum. And those are the only 2 out of hundreds. And I also admit I was wrong in both cases. But that was a good while ago when I was fairly new to the whole internet market. I have learned alot since then and would never make the same mistakes I never intentionally made in the first place. I wish just a few of the people I have made transactions with would have posted on here. But I don't ask anyone to do that. And those are the ones that always happen quietly. Nobody cares about good deals. Just the bad ones, so they can crucify each other on here. Makes for good reading, right? Well, whatever. Wes, just wanted to point out that your comments are meaningless. I think I'm entitled to do that. Hopefully there are some people here that can think for themselves and see that too. Everyone else, take care. Ryan.

Small point maybe, but I would be reluctant to do business with someone with the e-mail of "[email protected]".

True it is judging a book by its cover but I wouldn't do business with a guy whose name was "Killer" either. He should have sense enough to change it.

Ryan, maybe you ought to consider changing your e-mail address to something less toxic.

If Ms. Terese says so then I would be inclined to believe her,
Well, Wes, I'm not psychic or anything LOL but I've watched Ryan go from being banned to paying his fine, coming back here, and facing the music on past situations. He's managed to (so far) resist the urge to get defensive and slide right back down into the ditch that he's crawled out of... and we both know that those types of actions are what separates the ones who are ACTUALLY changing their ways from the ones that are just trying to change people's perceptions.

I'm not sure about the Dave Derrick connection, but as long as Ryan is willing to stand behind the quality of this particular snake, it can be overlooked. (It's not supposed to be het for anything, is it? )

Ryan, I'm pretty sure you and I had our rounds in the long ago when you were "first starting out". I may be wrong but I don't think I am.

Please read my above post. Perhaps you were writing while I was and you missed it.

If not, well, you know I take all comers.

Awwww, DAMMIT Ryan!

Wes' word is not worthless. He's a fine businessman, a good judge of character, and knows how get people to show their hand when he thinks they might not be playing straight.

You made some valid points....you did have a couple of bad deals, you had a couple of attitude problems, yada yada.

Don't repeat mistakes. I know it's rough to have the past thrown in your face, but sometimes that goes with the territory. Let me reassure you, those deals will always be there for people to dig up, but it's how you handle yourself NOW that will decide your future.

Proceed carefully. You have a wonderful opportunity here to influence people's opinion of you in a positive or negative way. Think twice before you click that "Post Reply" button.

Not doing your "effort to turnaround" much good by trying to denigrate someone who has a lot of posts. Uh-oh I have 400 posts, I guess I'm worthless too. What's the cutoff there Ryan? I guess 24 posts is okay. Everyone with 24 or less posts are all noble, honest, people, "who have more important stuff to do" and their word means something. All of us that have more than 25 posts our words are worthless, because "we have nothing better to do than hang out at a website". What a crock of do-do.

Plus, if you noticed he did say he was inclined to believe you were making good, based on ms tereses' opinion. Take a chill pill.
These kind of posts just get me angry. So what if someone spends some of their time on a website. Reptiles are my biggest hobby, so I tend to spend a lot of my time at sites that are related to my hobby, probably the same for Wes. BFD. People act like because they are "to busy" to hang out here they are more important than people who do hang out here. I hang out at several different boards (tattoo, Salt Water Aquariums, etc) and at any of them posts in the 1000's are no big deal, in fact those are usually the "old timers" or respected members, so why should that be any different than here, just because it is the BOI. Which also has regular forums that are included in our post totals. So since you are more important and don't have spaere time to be here, why are you? You really shouldn't be responding here anymore, as you may become one of us "losers"

Ken and Ms. Terese, thanks for the vote of confidence...

I can honestly say that caught me off guard. I didn't expect to see anything nice or forgiving written anywhere on here as soon as I saw there was an inquiry about me. I appreciate it. I didn't intend to come across harsh or anything like that. Just standing firm or something. It's not the past being thrown in my face that irritates me. I just hate people being in other people's business. I'm not a gossiper and it really bothers me when people get involved in other people's lives that they have nothing to with. Just a personal thing. No hard feelings Wes. I also appreciate your "forgiving" statement. You're right, I was writing at the time you wrote that. What Jim said about my email address, I work in Environmental Health and Safety. I deal with hazardous waste and many other related things for a solder manufacturing plant. That's where the Toxic comes from. Plus, I'm from and love Philadelphia. I'm also very fond of a certain cigar. So I killed 3 birds with one stone or something like that. I try to be creative, alright. So yes, judging a book by it's cover, which I really don't see as being relevant anyway, but that's the explanation. Well, I'm sure this will be continued soon. So bye for now.

Forgot to mention...

No, the Hogg is not supposed to be het for anything. Actually she came to me rather underweight and I have gotten her weight up and her health perfect. She's a really great animal, aside from the neck thing. (By the way, how's that for irony that I end up with 2 adult female Hogg Island Boas with gimpy necks, over a year apart?) Not sure if that answered any questions but I remembered there was a comment about the snake.

In all fairness Ryan, the "gimpy neck" on the animal a year ago was diagnosed by the previous owner as a chronic neurological problem. It was offerred up to Ryan free for adoption as a special needs animal. You recieved the animal knowing this and almost immediately put the animal up for sale as a prime specimen.

I have to make a comment here. I rarely disagree with anything that Rich does on this site. I thouroughly enjoy my visits here and find it to be an excellent resource. However, I was shocked that Ryan was permitted to re-register here under a new handle and slough off his rather impressive warning points total on his previous identity (pitbullophis). This magical name change allowed him to distance himself from the deplorable antics he demonstrated in that incarnation.

While it may be true that Ryan is attempting to turn himself around, anyone who is considering doing business with him should definitely lend at least some weight to his past actions. We have all seen the fabled "new leaf' before. In all honesty, only time will tell

I KNEW I knew his name from somewhere.

I agree Steve, he should NOT be here under a new name.

Rich, what about that?

According to another poster, the animal was aquired from Derrick? If that's the case, and seeing at least a couple people who say to stay clear of him, I'd say rather than a case of irony, that it is more a case of, who you buy your animals from.
Utilize the BOI, you will find helpful information. You will also find people who have been exposed as bad guys, thankfully by people like Wes (you know the ones who "don't have a life" cause they have so many posts). It will lesson your "odds" or the "irony" of getting underweight or defective animals. JMHO

I didn't have any hidden agenda with making a new name. I made it my own name so I'm not hiding. See.....RyanT. Not hiding much. And also, I don't keep any Pituophis anymore so the name was outdated. I would have made a new name regardless. And also, it is ironic that I got 2 in the same general state because I bought this female knowing she had the defect, as well as the last one. I wasn't duped into anything. It's really not a big deal. Dave made me aware of it, the same way I'm making people aware of it. I understand that the majority of people want totally perfect animals. I do too. But it was a good, honest deal. I got her cheap, I'm selling her even cheaper. And that's after I got her back up to breeding speed. And as far as the last one, she wasn't ever "diagnosed" by anyone. Just judged by opinions and assumptions. I personally didn't feel she was that bad off. She functioned and fed perfectly. Seemed totally content to me. I'm not one to overreact and exaggerate so that's the way I saw it. Good citizens of the BOI, let me ask you, do we ridicule, persecute even execute the people we love if they're handicap? No, we do not. Why should we with our beloved animals? And let me explain this one just one more time, I didn't do anything "deplorable" (that word reminds me of Pinhead's monologue in Hellraiser) in any way. I made the mistake of not divulging information upfront (in my posted ad) and intended to in private (through personal email or phone conversation). Bad decision but no bad intent. Won't happen again. But unfortunately, there are many people who do overreact and exaggerate. There's not much you can do for them. The way I see it, that's their own problem. It's gotta be much more debilitating for them than it is for us. Just one of those little annoyances in life we must deal with.

I'm glad to see some positive feedback as well! There are just so many scammers out there...

Ryan, the snake does have some beautiful colors, but you're right, I'm nervous about buying an animal with a bump on its neck. I'm not a huge breeder and want the very few animals I keep to be in the best shape possible. I have to disagree with one point you brought up - yes, animals with disfigurations/injuries/handicaps can be loved and enjoyed as pets. But not knowing EXACTLY what that bump is and where it came from (either injury or birth defect), I would never buy such an animal for breeding purposes. Because if it did happen to be a genetic defect, there's that possibility that it could get passed down to offspring. I'm not saying at all that this is the case here, the bump doesn't look very noticible from your photos. But since it hasn't been officially diagnosed, it's not certain WHAT that bump is, so I wouldn't take the chance of breeding.

I think I've decided (my husband as well, he wants a "snakey baby") to raise up a baby hog female anyway.

I'm glad this post did bring out some positive feedback for you so that people don't ONLY see those old, old posts! Thanks again for all the info you've provided and your honesty.
