In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

INQUIRY to Neil's NEW MORPHS...

Chris (ONLY).... one of these days, you're going to be a great WIT.... you're half way there!!

After actually measuring them, the 2 pair of 5 footers, turned out to be 6 foot plus.... and the 7 footers, turned out to be over 8 feet....

One pair of the 6 footers was sold to Mike, who gave me my good guy thread below, so now I've got one more pair of 6 footers and a pair of 8 footers....

Get a life!

Neil

Just out of curiosity, are all of these. The 5,6,7 and 8 footers all from the same litter?

Yeah... Davey is an individual who's well aware of Neil's "mistakes" when posting an ad and the difficulties that arise when trying to get any resolution.

But then again, how can Neil be blamed when a snake shrinks by 25% and changes gender during shipping? It was clearly the result of carrier mishandling.

Gotta love ya Seamus!!!!

Man...lol...this site rocks :) I think alot of us have missed our true calling (writing comedy, stand-up, etc)

It's seriously off topic Vince but...

He injured himself very early in the second quarter and was out for most the game... And Seattle still came very very close to winning it, taking it into OT with a younger quarterback, an injured roster and IN LAMBEAU. The Seahawks can't be faulted their performance in the least.

You should also perhaps know, before trying to blame the loss on Chad Brown's performance (He was OUT injured smartguy) that Robyn from P.E. reads these boards from time to time... Not a real smart way to establish any kind of potential or future business relationship, eh? You may not want anything they have now... but you never know about tomorrow.

what the hell are you talking about? I like the seahawks, and thanks alot john madden but i watched that game. and knew he wasnt playing. and that has nothing to do with pro exotics. and i think that the seahawks would have won if brown was in to put the pressure on farve. it what we call a joke smarty pants. come on buddy try and get a sence of humor you galoot.

Scott.... oh well.... and you're wrong on the "possibly gravid" thing.... I think they ARE gravid, but I don't know for sure.... she has been sleeping on her side all week.... what does that tell YOU???.... She just doesn't LOOK gravid....

That tells me the animal needs to see a vet.

Ultrasound can help determine whether you have a healthy, normal pregnancy or a situation that needs veterinary attention. There are some places (vet schools and some university and state labs) where you can get cheap ultrasound exams if you talk to the right people. It's worth researching.

Do let me know when you've bred black and green mambas together. :) Now that I might be tempted by! LOL

Healthy ball pythons will every now and then sleep on their side, pregnant or not. They even do when they are babies and/or juveniles.

Regards.

Tanith.... After that thread was written, I went back to look at my ad, and it said "PROBABLY gravid".... not, "possibly gravid".... since that thread was written, I have since sold that pair, and as it turns out, his father is a vet.... he knows to check.... so you were correct, but, they're not in my care anymore.... I'm getting some babies if she is, though....

Although, I DIDN'T know that some healthy snakes would sleep on their sides.... live and learn.... thanks, Alvaro....

Neil

Are snakes often sold as "possibly gravid " or "probably gravid"? I would think that would do more to hurt a sale than help. I know many people want a quick turnaround on their investment, but why take chances shipping a gravid animal in the winter? Adding that kind of stress could certainly cause a lot of harm even in nice weather. I think sellers should sell before an animal gets knocked up, or wait until they have babies. If something goes wrong, you could lose the mother, and all of the babies, or eggs. How good is that for an investment? Instead of Buying a pair, and breeding them yourself and having a pair of adults and numerous babies, you have one male to show for what you paid. If I were interested in buying an animal, and was told that there was a chance it was gravid, I would have to pass, even if I really wanted the animal. I may have the seller contact me if she has babies down the road and buy her, but it makes no sense to me to buy an animal that could die because of complications due to stress from shipping. Am I rambling? Yes Dave, you are. Ok, I will stop.

Dave,

Gravid ball pythons are shipped yearly. It would be interesting to know what is the success rate in hatching babies out of those females.

As for ads posting probably gravid...well, technically if a male and a female of breeding age have been together there are only two possible outcomes, gravid or non gravid. The "possibility" would thus be 50%.

Now if the ad states: ..."the female is possibly pregnant, although I don't think so"...It's like saying ..."this boa is 50% hetero for albino, although I don't think so"...The ad should state "she is possibly pregnant", and end there or "she is not pregnant", and also end there. One or the other.

One other thing. Those who breed boas and pythons know that when they are in breeding mode (and particularly when they have been copulating an hour ago) it is very rare that they would eat right away. I'm not saying it can't happen as with biology anything is possible, but it is rare. It's a hormonal thing, particularly with the female that's ovulating.

Just my opinion.

Alvaro.... you were obviously referring to my ad when you quoted....

....Now if the ad states: ..."the female is possibly pregnant, although I don't think so"...It's like saying ..."this boa is 50% hetero for albino, although I don't think so"....

That is not what the ad said, it said "probably", not "possibly".... there is a big difference....

The pair was sold to me as GRAVID.... period.... all I had to go by was the seller's sayso.... I didn't see them copulating and I can't say with 100% that she is???.... So, I toned it down a little and said, "Probably Gravid but, I don't think so".... if she is gravid, she's in the very early stages of it.... It's the same as if you bought a 100% Het Albino Ball from a guy who told you it was 100%, but didn't have the papers.... you know you wouldn't sell it as 100%, you'd sell it as 50% possible het, but COULD BE 100% with NO papers.... you wouldn't sell it for as much as a 100% het WITH papers, but if the buyer got lucky.... good for him!

I'm just not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.... if they call and want to talk about the animal in question, I'll tell them the story and let THEM make the decision to buy them or not....

It's as simple as that....

Neil

So, I toned it down a little and said, "Probably Gravid but, I don't think so"....

Probably, possibly, maybe...etc. The point was you were told they were pregnant but you did not witness the copulation. By "toning it down" as you say you created doubts in those who read the ad.

WHAT??? Did I just read that if you buy a het without paperwork from a source you dont trust, you just knock off half the percantage of possibility? That is just silly Neil, maybe it was written hastily, and not thought out. Paperwork doesn't make an animal het, paperwork says that you guarantee it is het, big difference. You could write up paperwork all day saying normal snakes are 100% het, the papers are the guarantee. If called on it, you suffer, but thats what the papers are for, to hold someone accountable . Thats why there aren't papers on 50% and 66% hets. By your logic would a 50% het sold to you by someone be sold as 25% het?

Please consider the source. neil is a salesman. He's said it before and doubtless he'll say it again. Look back to his chocolate cake analogy. The better the description the quicker the sale for a higher amount. He's got his butt covered by saying "probably but, I don't think so."

Does it need to be there? Depends on whether or not you're appealing to a persons want for the snakes or their basic greed. Depends on whether or not your reputation for honesty is intact.

I suspect neil was appealing to the basic greed of whoever bought it. Who wouldn't want to get a gravid snake, a live bearer no less, and then have babies you can sell and make more than you paid for the adults. It's a great technique. It's all technique. And it worked again.

I can't understand why anyone is surprised by this. It is neil afterall. He's good at what he does. He just does it different from some of us.

50% possible that this post will suck....

Maybe the snakes should have been called 50% gravid. This seems reasonable accoding to the logic being presented. The snake COULD be gravid....and I could send you paperwork stating so. I wonder if anyone will make up an agreement in order to sell 50% possibly gravid snakes? Could be a great idea with the way the reptile market seems to be heading. I really HATE to see such a wonderful hobby tuned into a back alley swap meet. The words "Give me a friggin' break!" come to mind for some reason.
