i think you make a good point about how few people went and singed that. most people are to the point with usark emails that they dont even read them anymore. everyone have got used to usark emails about them going to shows and so come out and support.
honestly i think people are getting burnt out with all the bans and usarks way of talking about them. they stop a few get a few put on hold and they they claim victories and then the bans pop right back up. i remember that one email at he end of last year about all the victories and we stopped the biggest ban we have every seen, and then two month into 2011 they all popped right back up. they cant keep acting like we are winning and then tell us we are losing a few months later, all the while ask for donations. its so long before people start losing faith.
i bet very soon like with in a month you see usarks email labels a little different. remember this
Rodney,
The emails that USARK sends out for coming out to support them at shows, I delete. This is because I either am attending the show or I am not and my mind is made up before that email comes out whether I will be attending.
However, you mention that the headlines of the emails will be different in a month.
The email I got about the Lacey Act adding large constrictors, was not labeled like a "come to the show and support us". I have a screen shot of how it was labeled in my email.
Looks pretty urgent to me. As you can see, I signed the petition immediately.

How do you propose the titles will be in the future?
I do think people are getting burned out on all the bans. It is frustrating for everyone when we think the fight is over and then later it is not. I guarantee you it is even more frustrating to USARK considering they are the ones putting their time into lobbying and trying to convince ignorant people to become more educated. If I were USARK, I know I would be discouraged after these continued proposed bans. It is ridiculous, I agree.
I support USARK because I met Andrew before USARK was created and I truly believe Andrew is doing what he can to educate politicians and other Special Interest groups. I don't believe for one minute that Andrew is trying to do anything to hurt the hobby.
There is nothing any reptile lobbyist can do about the continued proposed bans. Unfortunately, this is part of living in our country. They have a right to propose them. I was looking at the proposed legislation that people in our country would love to have because they petition the government on whitehouse.gov. The most ridiculous ban was placed on there. Someone wanted to ban the game Skyrim because it is going to corrupt our society. I couldn't stop laughing that 500 people actually signed this petition! These are the same people that back banning reptiles.
We have to remember, most of America would rather give their rights away for the illusion of safety. They want to "feel" safe. This feeling doesn't necessarily mean they are safe but as long as they feel safe, they will be happy. Unfortunately, WE have to make the rest of American's who are not for reptile ownership feel safe about us having them. We need positive publicity. We need good educators. We need people willing to donate time and money to our cause. If we lose in making American's feel safe with our reptiles, we lose our reptiles. It will be a sad day if this happens and I will probably cry my eyes out. I love my snakes.
We need to stay together in this fight. If you don't like the way USARK tries to deal with potential bans, that doesn't mean you have to give them money. However, you still can sign petitions when they are worded to your liking and we still have to stay together. Staying together and working together is what is going to allow our hobby to continue.
Sorry for rambling to many different topics. That is how my mind operates and I am overly exhausted while typing this.
Also Rodney, if I could please ask for capital letters when you write. I know it is the Internet and this is not necessarily a professional setting (work related), but as a teacher, I cannot help but put this request out. I am not asking for perfect grammar but I know it will be easier to read after 12-16 hour days if there are capital letters at the beginning of your sentences. (I am being sincere about this also).
Thanks,
Star
