In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Jamaican Boas Breeding

Feeding update:

All holdbacks were offered quail chicks. Only H6 ate it. I will offer a couple more times to the others, as they are certainly the best fed of the group, but then will put off for a few more months. Judging from H6's feeding bump, I'd say they can handle them easily, as soon as they are willing to make the adjustment.

P1, P2, and T3 all ate unscented pinkies, as usual.

T1 was offered an unscented pinkie and another unscented pinkie with a piece of anole stuck to it, and ate neither.

N2 was offered an unscented pinkie and declined. I will probably try scented again next week.

Everyone else was offered a chick-scented pinkie and declined.

Tough little things to wean. I admire your tenacity!

Haha. Thanks, but to be fair, I'm being pretty lazy about the whole thing. The most effective methods (scenting with anole soup and covering with chick fuzz) I haven't really been doing just because I'm not in an exceptional hurry to get them converted. Chick thighs are pretty easy for me and the only reason I'm converting any of them is for resale. Also, in speaking to some of the people who have taken non-pinkie eaters, they seem to convert fairly quickly in new homes, which I assume comes from their new owners trying harder. Haha.

Another feeding update.

All holdbacks were fed quail chicks. Again, only H6 ate it.

P1 was not fed in preparation for going to a new home on Monday.

P2 and T3 ate unscented pinkies.

N2 did NOT eat an unscented pinkie. Although, both this week and last week, it was in a different place from where I left it, so presumably, N2 is thinking REALLY hard about it. I'll probably try another unscented next week.

N4 DID eat a scented pinkie (chick guts).

T1 refused an anole, so presumably T1 is off feed entirely for the moment.

All others declined to eat a scented pinkie.

I will likely skip feeding next week, as I am going away for a decent chunk of it, then will try all of the challenge foods again when I get back (see if extreme hunger helps). If I don't get some results on that feeding, I'll probably go back to normal feeding for a little while longer.

Just some quick updates. P1 is in her new home. I'll pass on any updates I get regarding her.

There will be no feeding this week, as I am going out of town. When I get back, I'll try to get some good shots of the guys since they'll have empty bellies, then give them all one last attempt at feeding goals before we go back to the tried and true food items for a little while longer. I'm hoping for a good comparison shot of H3 and H6 together, as they probably represent the full range between the two of them.

Another feeding update:

All holdbacks were given quail chicks. H6 ate it as usual, H5 ate her first one. The others declined. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to keep pushing them, or go back to thighs for a little while for E3, H2, H3, and H4.

P2 ate the unscented pinkie, as did T3. T1 is back on feed with a f/t anole.

T4, N1, N3, N4, and N5 were offered scented pinkies and declined.

N2 was offered and unscented pinkie and declined. I will probably offer scented next week.

E2 was offered a scented pinkie and a chick thigh, as E2 has been spotty at best lately and is starting to look thin. E2 ate the thigh only.

I'm amazed how stubborn some of these are being.

Yeah, there's a reason why pinkie-eaters are worth significantly more. haha. Also, I'm fairly certain that a lot of it comes from not having the time to really focus on transferring them to new foods, and of course the fact that I'm not tremendously worried about it. I just heard back from someone who took three chick-thigh eaters several weeks ago, and he already has all three taking pinkies with mixed success. This seems fairly typical. Almost everyone who has taken a non-pinkie eater has gotten it converted significantly faster than I generally do.

That being said, as they start to find new homes, it gives me a little more time and energy to focus on the ones that are still in my care, so I'm sure I'll get them all converted eventually. I'm in no hurry to get rid of them.

Another feeding update. Some good news this week.

E3, H2, H3, and H4, who had previously declined quail chicks, were offered a quail chick with a small piece of chick thigh stuck in its mouth. I basically cut off the ankle joint of the thigh and used that. E3 and H3 ate, and H2 clearly made an attempt, but then gave up for some reason (possibly size). I will likely continue this process for the others, but may give H2 and H4 a thigh or two to keep their strength up.

H5 and H6 were both offered the quail chick alone. H6 ate it, H5 did not.

E2, because he has been so sporadic in his feeding, was offered two chick thighs and a scented pinkie. He ate one thigh and the pinkie. At this point, I'm starting to think he's just messing with me. I will also probably be moving E2 back to a tub at some point soon.

P2 and T1 were not fed in preparation for the move to their new homes next week.

T3 was offered a fuzzie and ate it.

T4 and the N group were all fed scented pinkies, and none ate, including N2 and N4 that have eaten in the past. I'm thinking I might incorporate the thigh and pinkie method for these guys, as that seems to work better than scenting alone.

Feeding update.

E3, H3, H5, and H6 were all offered f/t quail chicks. E3 and H3 ate quail chicks with a chicken knee in the mouth last week, so hopefully, that was enough to get them to realize that the quail chicks are food. If they don't eat this week, I will go back to the quail/knee combo.

H2 and H4 did not eat the quail knee combo last week, although at least one of them tried to. I also realized that these two are the smallest two of the holdbacks, so size might be a factor. For this reason, I have offered the combo again to these two with one addition. I also disemboweled the quail chicks so that they are much slimmer through their length. Hopefully, this decrease in diameter will be the last thing necessary to get them on quail chicks, but if not, we can go back to chick thighs for a few more weeks until they put on the necessary size.

E2 was offered a pinkie scented with the innards of the quail chicks, and also an unscented pinkie. E2 has been kind of a wildcard lately, but last week ate a thigh and an unscented pinkie, so here's hoping.

T3 was offered an unscented fuzzie, as usual. If it wasn't for the purpose of keeping track of individual histories, I would certainly change T3's name, as she certainly hasn't been causing me any trouble lately.

T4, N1 and N3 were offered a chick thigh and a scented pinkie. The last two months have proven fairly well to me that you can not simply starve them into switching foods, and to be honest, I have had more success with feeding dual food items than with scenting alone. At the very least, this way, they can eat the chick thigh and will maintain their strength.

N2 and N4 were offered scented pinkies, as both of these have eaten more than a few in the past. I know they are willing to eat them, and I'm not as concerned about these two, since they haven't been fasting since the beginning, like T4, N1, and N3.

Will update in the morning with results.
