Hopefully this will clarify a few points...
Due to other obligations, I have not been able to keep up on this thread. However, based on a cursory read it appears that it has been implied that I have some sort of personal vendetta against Alan. I would like to go on record as saying that nothing could be further from the truth.
I don't have some sort of personal issue with him, but I do get tired of him trying to skirt the rules on two different forums that I moderate. His attempts at self promotion/advertising in an inappropriate manner have been completely transparent, and he was given warning points accordingly. All I did was enforce the rules of the site.
Alan has said that I singled him out when I moderated. If that is true, then I would like to see an example of where I did so. If someone reports a post to the moderators we don't necessarily read the entire thread before giving warning points. There is simply not enough time in the day to read everything that is posted on this site. Rich often uses the analogy of a police officer catching speeders. There may be quite a few people speeding, but in most cases only one of those people will get caught. If someone reports your post, then you’re going to get caught. If they don’t, then you might get away with breaking the rules.
As far as issuing warning points for advertising goes, it is usually only done when it is quite blatant. Alan’s self promotion usually wasn’t in line with the current topic of the thread, and there was rarely anything subtle about it. I only gave him warning points on three occasions, and there is no way that anyone could argue that I did so inappropriately. Here is the thread in which Alan felt like he was singled out: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31037&perpage=5&pagenumber=1
If someone could please show me where I treated him unfairly, then I would be more than happy to amend my previous actions. However, I just got through reviewing the thread, and I can’t find where he was in any way “singled out.”
Bear something in mind about that topic…it was a poll started by a forum member who was asking which cage company people preferred. The three options given by the topic author were: BARRS, Animal Plastics, and Precision Caging. Several forum members then posted and mentioned that Boaphile also makes good cages. Then on page 3 of the topic Alan posts the following:
Now…can someone really fault me for me for giving him warning points for that? When people had mentioned Boaphile cages, it was Boaphile’s customers who did so…Jeff Ronne wasn’t the one who came on the site and posted in order to promote his own product. (IMO Jeff has too much class to do that sort of thing.)
Alan’s next post was in response to a question that the topic’s author had about AP’s method of heating their cages. Matt asked:
To which Alan responded with:
Alan’s next post in the topic was deleted by himself (actually he edited it so that it contained nothing but periods). I have no idea why he did that, but apparently he felt the need to remove whatever it was he said. He might have done that when he threw his little temper tantrum and went through the whole site and edited almost all of his posts in the same manner (as was previously mentioned by Rich). Interestingly, of the three posts that he left unedited in this topic two of them were his attempts at advertising and the third one was a shot at his competition.
Alan’s forth post in the topic was in response to a guy named Andy who posted that he really liked AP cages. Alan responded to him with this:
Alan’s fifth and final post to the topic was directed at me (because I had given him warning points). It is as follows:
It also appears that based on that post, that Alan didn’t agree with my assessment that the two posts that I quoted above were advertising. Rich has said that he agreed with my assessment, but if someone else disagrees I would be more than happy to hear their opinion on the subject.
As for when I called Alan a “crybaby”… I did that in the Lonely Hearts Club Forum (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44188&perpage=5&pagenumber=1) in response to two posts that Alan had made in which he was complaining about the site and rationalizing why he was boycotting it. My post was as follows:
Maybe some people consider that post out of line, but I read far worse everyday here on this forum…and no one gets warning points for it. I understand why Rich was obligated to say something, especially since my post offended the delicacies of some of the regulars in the LHC Forum. As Seamus said, the post was only there for about 90 minutes and considering the fact that the forum clock is GMT -1 that means that the post was made at almost 2:00 am (EST) and was removed at approximately 3:30 am (EST). I kind of doubt that Alan even read it and got his feeling hurt during that time. However… Alan, if I hurt your feelings by calling you a crybaby, I most certainly apologize.

Now…can someone really fault me for me for giving him warning points for that? One more thing can anyone tell me how the AP cages hold heal using flexwatt. Thanks again-
To which Alan responded with:
So now he’s trying to take subtle jabs at his competition? Come on…that’s not cool at all. However, as uncool as I think that sort of thing is, Alan wasn’t given any warning points. Why? Because he didn’t blatantly break the rules of the site.i dont think they do
Use flexwat just a heat rope and i have heard from someone that has it and says they dont like it and have replaced it w/ flexwatt
maybe they have decided to offer flew watt now im not sure
good luck

Again, he got warning points. While this post was a little more subtle than his first one, it was none the less an attempt at advertising which is a violation of the TOS of this site.Hey Andy
I wished you live here also .. would love to show you some very nice well built cages ... with some options that are exclusive to my cages that sets them a step above of others. like the Anti-lift KV track systems that works just KILLER in keeping large lizards & snakes in the cage while providing a easy finger touch glide opening and it also has a AWSOME locking system on it ... if you ever get the chance to come to NC ....call me lol
Alan’s fifth and final post to the topic was directed at me (because I had given him warning points). It is as follows:
Rich gave him warning points for that one, and quite honestly I can’t recall having seen that post before today. This might have been why Rich asked me in the mod forum why Alan had such a problem with me, but I’m not completely certain. IMO that post shows that Alan is the one who has a problem with me rather than the other way around.Jay you are so .....
uhhhm show me a advertisement and ill show where the pot of gold is at the end of the rainbow .. this isnt the BC forums dont let the power goto your head man ... just because i am not Animal Plastics dont come at me with inappropriate advertising slag ... i didnt advertise on the boi i was simply making a STATEMENT its sad you have to try that avenue against me for my post ... VERY tacky Jay VERY tacky indeed and to do it twice and call it tacky .... what a crock !!! one warning was sufficient but i guess that wand in your hand made you god today
It also appears that based on that post, that Alan didn’t agree with my assessment that the two posts that I quoted above were advertising. Rich has said that he agreed with my assessment, but if someone else disagrees I would be more than happy to hear their opinion on the subject.

My post was as follows:
I made that post after seeing all of the emails in which Alan ranted about being given warning points, and after witnessing him deleting all of his posts from this site. These are things that the members of the forum were not privy to, but they still weighed in on my assessment of the situation. Quite honestly, I felt that he was behaving in a very juvenile and immature manner…hence my use of the term “crybaby.” Of course the above is the “edited version” after I removed the part where I told him to “stop acting like such a crybaby.”OMG Alan. Would you please just grow up? Your little temper tantrum is ridiculous at best.
btw...I seriously doubt that you know much about chivalry since you can't even come close to spelling it right.![]()
