Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

THERE SEEMS TO BE THOSE WHOM POST THAT EVERYTIME SOMEONE ELSE POST THEY BUMP ALL 50 OF THIER ADDS TO THE TOP TO PUSH EVERYONE TO THE SECOND PAGE..(I HAVE BEEN GUILTY MYSELF IN THE PAST) :D
HOWEVER I WAS QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS MYSELF AND HAVE SINCE CORRECTED THE SITUATION..I HAVE DECIDED TO LIMIT MY ADDS AND COMBINE MOST INTO ONE ADD PER SECTION..IF I HAVE NEW ANIMALS OR ADDED MORE TO MY WEB SITE I CAN SIMPLY BUMP THAT ONE-THREE ADDS..

THIS SECTION SEEMS TO BE THE WORST(BALL PYTHONS)..THERE ARE THOSE WHOM SEEM TO FEEL THREATENED EVERYTIME SOMEONE ELSE POST A SIMILAR ANIMAL THEY BUMP AND LOWER THIER PRICES WITHIN 1 HOUR...
WITH THAT BEING SAID PERHAPS CLASSIFIED ADDS SHOULD BE LIMITED TO 3 ADDS PER SECTION PER 24 HOURS

Are you suggesting a voluntary agreement by advertisers? or an official policy?
 
voluntary would be nice but i see at least one advertiser who would probably oppose..i have no issue making it official..those of us here to promote our culture should have no issues..this would help small and large seller as well..there are many small private breeders here as well who pay to advertise and every time they do their animals get swamped to second page..this in turn just causes everyone to keep bumping old adds back to the top..those of us who sell on a larger amount and have web sites are not really affected as bad..its the smaller seller who gets lost and without them there would be no need for the larger breeders/sellers...also this limits the amount of bottom price dropper adds customers are shown..i myself have decided against certain morphs/lines of ball pythons based on what some are selling who's only interest is to make $$ and get out of the buis and leave the rest of us wondering how to feed our children next year..

this is not going to happen though ..these sellers will eventually go back to selling cars etc and those others who attempt to drop market etc will go back were they were 3 years ago before they just popped out of no where..this is probably wrong place for this but i felt it was needed here

The endless bumping is getting ridiculous. Oh look, it just happened again! I think only one person would be upset if it was limited.

I agree, and unfortunately the ignore feature is inadequate. I put "the Rickster" on ignore to see if that would get rid of the clutter, but only the text of the ads is removed, the headers are still there taking up space.
Unless there's an actual policy change though he is within his rights do try to dominate the classifieds if he chooses, despite the fact that it's seriously annoying to the majority of the rest of us.
 
maybe there is an option in rich's control panel to not allow the posts in those sections to be bumped or updated within 40 minutes of each other at a time( or whatever amount of time you all see fit) . this might help keep those sorts of people under control at least.

I know there is an overall setting that dosnt allow you to post more than once every so many seconds. or minutes, but maybe it is section oriented too? *shrugs* i dunno... just another thought for you guys...
 
Question to all......Why are there different types of membership. I paid extra to keep my ads up on top. Then I noticed that others were bumping up there ads for free. So I am doing the same. All ads have the same morphs inside.
I think that posting to bump up is wrong too. Be happy to have all ads locked and not allowed to get FREE bumps. Pay extra to bump your ads. Sorry if I have so many morphs for sale.

Come join me and pay the extra bucks for your ads.

It is limited...by membership level. A Contributor level ($25) member can highlight/bump 10 ads per month, at Benefactor ($100) level they get 50, and at Endowment ($250) they get 200. A great plan for somebody that deals with lots of animals, and most people wouldn't even notice or complain. BUT, when the ads are consolidated into one one section and bumped frequently, it is annoying. I would be shooting myself in the foot if I were to lobby for a restriction on the number of ads allowed, or to decrease the number of highlights/bumps allowed...but then again, I am not an advertising whore. I will only post (or bump) a few ads in a given category per day. Even if/when my production increases significantly, I just don't like that aggressive, monopolizing, in your face style of marketing. I think most people dislike it, whether it be online or the television/radio ads (from one or two companies) that show up EVERY commercial break.
 
This really doesn't seem like a serious issue to me. I checked the ball python classifieds and the first page is not even filled from posts from today. So it's not like the classifieds are being overwhelmed with the number of ads posted there.

Each paid membership level (as has been pointed out) has a limited number of bumps and/or highlights that the member can utilize in a month's time. This was programmed in specifically to give those memberships that capability to try to make the classifieds more attractive to members so it would be used more.

I'm afraid I just don't see any abuses that warrant further changes to that area. Matter of fact, in my opinion the entire classifieds section is rather underutilized anyway.
 
One additional comment....

If I do see a rash of abuses (and associated complaints about them) with some members circumventing the bump/highlight feature programmed into each membership level with "bump" replies to their threads, I can lock down the classifieds to where the originator of the thread cannot reply to their own thread. This will effectively end that practice. However, it will also end anyone's ability to replying to queries interested parties may make within those same classified threads. So be careful about what you wish for.....
 
Someone has there Blinders on I see! I take it you dont look at the BP classifieds as much as some of us? You would see the abuse if you did.. BUT, Your the Boss... I'll Shud up now!! :dgrin:

I did think to myself that Rich must have picked a slow day to look, lol. I don't check it all that often myself, but I have seen the Brett vs Rick battle for supremacy pretty frequently. Of course, that is in terms of sheer volume, and I can't address the # of bumps - but as Rick mentioned, that is one of the perks of his membership level (even if it does make his ads an annoyance to many). Ultimately, he will have to decide if this marketing scheme has the desired effect...and if the car salesman has any say in Rick's business dealings, I suspect we won't be seeing any changes.
 
we all understand this is his right to do so..i think more is 99% of the comunity does not like his practices in general..he does much harm for our comunity..but i guess we cant really bitch at him since he is not in control its the little bald guy who controls him..im sure within a year joe will move on to another sucker and try to start something else...
 
Apparently today was yet another slow day when I looked in the ball python classifieds...... :rolleyes:

There were not enough ads nor replies to even roll over today's (07/24) ads onto the second page.

Blinders or not, I just don't see that molehill, er, mountain.... :rofl:
