It would be nice if Bobby would answer a couple of the questions asked of him. I am not familiar with FedEx so I took a look at their web page and found that like UPS they offer 3 delivery times - by 8:30 am, by 10:30 am, and by 3 pm. Typically when I ship I use the by 10:30 am mode and have never had a package attempted to be delivered before 9 am. Usually they arrive between 10 and 11 am.
As I said before, I feel it is incumbent on the shipper to notify the receiver and make sure they know when the package is suppose to arrive. So again I ask Bobby which mode of shipping he used? Did he request early delivery (by 8:30 am) for this package? This would make sense considering the way they were packaged, but it would just be supposition on our part until Bobby decides to answer some questions.
This would seem to be an important question as it would again suggest that Bobby should have better communicated the arrival time to Ken. On the other hand, if an earlier arrival time was not requested, then part of this has to just be attributed to unfortunate circumstances in that the driver came early and the box was not labeled as perishable.
After receiving probably over 500 or 1000 animal shipments without incident, I do not think Ken can be faulted for not going into his shop earlier just in case. He had no reason to think these snakes were going to arrive any earlier than they have countless other times or if they did, that the delivery guy wouldn't just call him at home as they have done in the past. To suggest that he was uncaring just because he did not think it was necessary to be at the shop just in case one of those what ifs occurred is just being righteous in hind-sight.
