In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

LLL Reptile - Unhappy

Dont get me started

I think you did good by throwing them out
Reason being those little maggots turn into the fastest little darn flies i have ever seen! which are EXTREMLY hard to get rid of
I got some in a shipment of either wax worms or mealies im not sure but i figured no big deal i would just feed them to my reptiles BIG MISTAKE
those maggots change in to flies and quickly darted out of the cup and by the time i got rid of them(btw i thought i got rid of them twice before i actually did) the destroyed 3 fruit fly cultures and @750 crix
all in all i lost between $40-$50 in feeders
And anyone who says sending those kind of extra feeders is o.k. must be crazy

%$# #$%# zippy flies i hate those lil' #@! :eatsmiley

Jeez poor maggots getting a bad rap
Well, those are phorid fly larvae and reproduce like mad! It is always a good idea to remove any dead feeders when you receive them. Once you have a phorid (fecal, humpback, mausoleum) fly infestation, it is rather tough to eliminate them. They breed in any warm and moist area where there is rotting organic matter. Since they breed in filth, they can, theroetically, spread disease. Clean feeder bins/containers religiously.

Off-topic, but muy importante!

Thanks for the information!

That exactly why I was so adamant about it "not being ok."

Jesus H Christ.....

Just imagine if it were that special time of the month eh? What would that have been like?

"Dear LLL, I'm suffering from severe menstrual cramps. Why the hell did you add to my misery by sending me free larvae?"

IF you are so concerned that the larvae will develop into dangerous and deadly flies, and only to begin the cycle again by finding and feeding on feces, rotting food, or other decaying organic matter......why not simply clean your house? Do you crap on the floor and leave food all over the place? Do your "PRIZE" geckos live in similar conditions?

Pfft...

No I do not, but I seem to have to wade through crap and verbal defication whenever you post.

Ok

so next time I forget to put the boxed up leftovers from the restaurant we just got home from, in the refrig., and notice flies on the box, or get food poisoning from eating it, I will call the restaurant and complain to them....

Ain't that your tough luck. But...genius...theres a nifty little feature here called "ignore". If you place me on that list you'll never ever see a thing I write again. Hows that for a perfect Borewhine world?

Heh I would give you positive feedback for that advice... but I cant yet. However I do so enjoy YOUR retaliatory feedback comments like "Now ya get it ya ****ing moron." and even better "Dont like use the ignore function ya stupid ****."

Wow if "ya" ain't the pot calling the kettle black. I have not seen ONE post by you with any semblance of helpfull information... so yes I will put you on ignore.

What a coincidence.

Just a few days ago, I made a post regarding the reliability I've had with LLL supplying our feeders and the incompetence of DHL. Well, it is now about 8:45pm here and DHL has failed to deliver our order of feeders that were sent out Tuesday of this week, however, when we called LLL about the issue they immediately offered to send us another order out this coming Monday free of charge. If this does indeed go through, then I say that's excellent customer service... it's just too bad they use DHL as their courier as I've been nothing but disappointed in that company (and I don't think I'm alone).

JungleGems --- These waxies were sent via FedEx. I'm not exactly sure how long they were in shipment. I ordered on a Saturday (I think) and they didn't arrive until Thurs/Weds.

By the way

Is this post setting the record for lowest dollar value complained about....$7, half of the waxworm order?

3-4 days in transit during the hottest time of the year and you only had one dead waxworm in the cup. It sounds like they were packed very well.

I believe its $7.25 not including the cost of the additional free larvae LLL forgot to charge her for. But yes....its the lowest value to be complained about anywhere.

But...this isn't really a complaint.....its just an "UNHAPPY" post.

The courier may be the personal preference of the company they order from that then sends the feeders to the final purchaser. It wouldn't surprise me if the waxworms come from a different company entirely than the one we get our crickets/mealies from. I know LLL's rodents come to us from a company based here in Colorado. Thursday is usually the day we receive our shipments and they usually go out to us on Monday. This Monday LLL said the weather was awful in Cali so they shipped Tuesday instead, so we at least expected the crickets by this evening but DHL was a no-show. Someday I do hope to cut the middle man out altogether and avoid these unnecessary headaches... space and time permitting.

As a side note, this has not been the only complaint on the BOI about "extra feeders" in shipments. Not only one but two different threads were started on here a couple of months ago about spiders showing up in cricket shipments. None of these posts were particularly necessary to put on the BOI (to each his own). I guess I'm one of the few who actually woudn't mind receiving maggots OR spiders in my next shipment of feeders. I try to keep spiders around here to control the ever-increasing escapee cricket colony (then again, some of the escapee lizards do a great job of that as well) and maggots are a great added variation to the animals' diet! :) Bon a petit!

No it's not the lowest, but the dollar amount is irrelevant. I had a fish/reptile lighting reseller send me a mercury vapor bulb that was obviously broke b4 it was sent. When I followed their return policy they tried to jack me of an additional $6 to have a new one sent... which is against what their own policy states. Granted I could very easily afford the $6 but I already paid them and they were just looking for a place to recoup $$$ on their broken bulbs! Sometimes its about principle.
