In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Mark/BoaMaster Cages

And if you want this cage back, I will also be needing a box to put them in. Your boxes both got cut up after I took pictures.

To discredit you calling me a flake and dishonest, I will post all the emails and phone log. I would love to know where I called you out on being anything, besides discussing the situation.

If he sents you a prepaid postage box, send him the cages/parts back and call it a day. Plenty of other people out there selling cages.

i gave him a full refund including shipping
2 enclosures
and 2 times shipping cost
its ups's damages at fault here
not mine. so i covered it.
which i have to do sometimes to make sure all my customers are happy

If your waiting to find someone easier to work with then Mark your going to be waiting a long time. It's true that there are some that just cannot be pleased and it seems a few are on here. Cage got messed up without Mark having anything to do with it and he made you another one and got a piece wrong, apologized and again paid to send you another of so you have 2 and a half cages and it's still not goo enough. That's fine and he is still going to refund you! So I tell yah what call AP, Boaphile, Vision, Repti-racks call them all and ask them flat out if they would go so far as Mark has. Your not going to find it. Your hitting one of the good guys and even though it may take you some time YOUR going to figure that out sooner or later!

I've bought from vision and my cages came in perfect shape and packaged well. They came UPS also.

Any place I buy from would treat me right or I would stop payment on them. Why? because the customer is paying to receive the product they paid for. I do not see the buyer seeking anything beyond what he expected when he entered the initial argeement with this seller. If the seller wants his product back, the buyer has asked for prepaid shipping and packaging to ensure he gets it back. Personally after seeing the conditions of the cages in the photos, I'd ask the buyer to break them up, take photos and post them here to show they were destroyed and not resold and save myself headaches on cages I would not try to resell to other anyway. The buyer is then refunded and the seller knows that his damaged product was not resold.

I am finishing up a cage purchase from Mark. My cage is a PVC cage that is 48"x32"x15". I went with him because his prices cannot be touched (seriously, a cage of a similar volume was a couple hundred more at all the other cage makers) and his turn around time is days rather than months. This is my first purchase from him. I added a stand, Herpstat, flexwatt, and light.
The initial shipment came within a week and had only the cage, without stand, lights, heat, thermostat. I called him, and he said he was waiting on flexwatt and it would be in within a day, with the remaining of the order. He was right, and it came ASAP.
His cage assembled easy, and looks great. I have called him many times with questions before, during, and after the purchase and he has always been willing to answer them. I have no problems with the purchase. Overall, I would say his operation is not as professionally run as, say, Boaphile, but his prices are far lower and his product is good.
I don't have any qualms with the OP of this thread in terms of wanting to get a defect-free cage. But for others looking on, I want to say that Mark is a stand-up guy and should feel confident ordering from him. You will get a very nice cage at a great price, and if you're not satisfied he is there to make it right.

I've been buying cages from mark for years. I have over a dozen cages from him with no problems. If you look on his website it states that the cages are lazer cut, that is why they have the black marks on them. it comes off easy with simple green and a paper towel. Mark is a good guy and will make things right. I think your main problem was the shipping company. I've allways picked my cages up and never had a problem with damage. One of his employees did make one of my front wrong on a custom sized cage, but he delivered them to me the next day.

Is anyone disputing the pictures are displaying damage?

Even if UPS is setting the cages on fire, The burden to deal with them lies on the person who has chosen to deal with them. Why isn't he using another company if UPS is so bad and damaging his products?

Instead of FIXING an obvious issue, he choses to refund and run away. These facts are shown and obvious.

My opinion based on facts shown:
He sent two cages which by whoever's fault, arrived damaged. FACT.
He sent two cages AND a refund which shows he admits responsibilty. FACT
He chose to send the cages both times through a carrier he disparages as being known to damage his products and then tries to state he does not have any control over shipping issues. VERY SAD FACT.
He shows emotion that a customer has displayed a problem with his company and then refuses to make it right and issues a refund. FACT.

Boamaster/Mark: This post could have easily displayed a good customer service example, IF YOU ACTUALLY PROVIDED IT!! Instead, you blamed shippers and a customer for not accepting less than a good product. In the end, you refund and ran away. I would have left this go if people wouldn't came on to redeem Mark's reputation and diminish how severe this experience is.

He is NOT running away in anyway. IF you call sending out 2 and a half cages at his cost and now giving a refund meaning he is out the cost of all the cages, all the shipping running away you have a very unique sense of what running away is!

He provided two damaged cages and then chose to refund the money because he felt he couldn't provide one that wasn't damaged. Yep running away.

No SIR he provided 2 and a half cages that were damaged not through fault of his own and then figured out that if he made one out of 24k gold it would still not be good enough and make anyone happy so he did the only thing left he could which is o provide a refund. Not running away it's letting go from a no when situation with people that he is NEVER going to be able to please and doing it with a lot more class then most would ever do!

So you would have been happy with the cages shown in the pictures?

Happy NO! A little more understanding to the guy who is trying to do everything he can to make it right yes! I have been doing this a long time and have found far more that would never go as far. He didn't have to do half of what he did but he did it not because he was worried about a stupid paypal dispute but because he is a stand up guy who wanted to make it right! You are past the cages you do not care about the cages anymore this is my point you have a problem with Mark now for some reason and it's clear to all whether any and all will admit it that there is nothing Mark can do to make him happy. Ship 5 more 10 more all white, black or green and it's never going to be good enough so letting it go is all he can do. I have gotten many cages from him and some have had nicks and corners with some kinda crunches but you know what he is not UPS and FedEx is 10times more expensive so why not use them because it would be more money for you and me and we don't want it! It's a fricken SNAKE cage not the crown jewels for pete's sake! Its for a snake or beardie to live in, pee in poop in not to sit in and hang out while the long day of summer pass. There is NOTHING more for him to do.

I don't understand this "running away". If he did not respond to your complaints and offered no solution, that is "running away". He is giving you a full refund. How can you not be satisfied with that? Now you can find a cage and cage maker that better suits you with no financial loss on your part. Sounds fair to me.

That's a very foolish stance to take. In this instance, there's no distinction between 'fault' and 'responsibility'. While it may not be his 'fault' that the pieces arrived damaged, he's certainly 'responsible' for it. As the seller/shipper of the product, he's absolutely responsible for any damage it took along the way. A small point, but worth mentioning.

If you'd be happy to receive obviously damaged merchandise, that's on you. Clearly, the OP has higher expectations of receiving a new product that isn't quite obviously damaged. Cages aren't purchased for purely utilitarian reasons. There are also aesthetic considerations. Not only do the various cracks allow easy entry for damaging moisture, but they're just plain ugly. I'm not a very picky person, but even I wouldn't have been happy about excitedly opening my new cage's box and finding it in that condition.

Under whatever circumstances, the seller provided two sub-par cages, then finally admitted defeat by just issuing the refund. Let's not make it seem more noble or admirable than it is. He made it right...on the third try. Other than insisting on what he paid for, the OP had no hand in that. And let's not try to explain this away as a customer who had unrealistic expectations of a "24k gold" product. He simply wanted his new cage to be in new condition, and it never happened for him.

Well said. I certainly don't think Mark is a bad guy, but he needs to start inspecting things before they get shipped out and take a few minutes to clean them up. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to receive an undamaged product.

As I said, I've had a number of very smooth dealings with Mark, and will continue to deal with him.

Damaged cages...he gives a full refund, including shipping, and buyer keeps the cages, despite a premature "bad guy" thread. I think it's time we put this one to bed.
