I think there were a few dollars invested. What is the going rate for a breedable female snow boa? What was it at the time the breeding loan began?
What is the value of an adult male motley? They very well could have produced babies on their own, without the stress to the snakes, or themselves. However they weren't trying to produce motleys het snow. They were wanting to produce Albino motleys het snow, thus the loan.
Granted the market has gone down quite a bit since the loan was initiated, but I would guess that the Beunos spent close to 7k for the motley if they bought it as a yearling back then, and probably 5k or more on the snow.
I know that Mark's $50-100 in rats (if he doesn't breed his own) is a HUGE expense, and it probably took an extra 2 minutes to feed these snakes while he walked through his snake area feeding his own animals, but lets try to be fair here.
