In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

According to the emails posted from the discussions between the two.

By Dec 15th, 2005 these amounts were agreed to and exchanged:

Total Bill (minus Shipping): $5485.00

Payments in the amounts of: $1000, $500, $2800, $1500...Totaling $5800.00

Now the last time I applied basic math, that ment $315.00 in overpayment/towards shipping. Unless the final payment was for $1185.00 instead of $1500.00?

I did not end up sending the other $315 because he told me not to send anything for shipping until the cages were finished.

That was just looked up for the shipping. Shipping estimate is just that, part of the delay is on her part also. I have no problem like i said completing the order but was always waiting before for her to pick which sizes she wanted on the 8 footers and never did choose either.

Matthew Martin

Matt, you told me several times that it was all or none. You never told me that you had approved of the idea of shipping out most of the order by holding back a couple of cages until after I posted here on Fauna.

So here is what I would like to do: Send to me all of the 4-footers, 3 of the 6-footers (the 2 taller ones, and 1 shorter one....the other should not be hard for you to sell since it is simply a divided snake cage with removable divider) and send 3 of the 8-footers (all but 1 with divider).

I sent $765 to you for that 8-footer and $455 for that 6-footer. That is a total of $1220 for those 2 cages. Which is only $200 less than the quote you just put up, and about the same as the quotes you sent to me earlier this week. Now I realize that you say that these cages will not have the same retail value because they are custom...but the amount you will get for those 2 cages will still be more than the $800 quoted for the initial shipping.

Doing this would make me happy.

What are you referring to? There has been NO shipping paid on this order what so ever and she has indicated to me that she can't afford the shipping is the thing.

Matthew Martin

Matt, at this point I probably could scrape together enough to cover the initial shipping estimate....but after all of this, I would be a blatant idiot to send you any more money than I already have.

The old addage; fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

If the shipping is $1,448.64 and you can "salvage" the 8 foot cages for $550.00 each why not keep two cages that makes $1100.00 Kelly sends you the additional 348.64 and everyone is happy??? Kelly dosent put out much cash and you recoup all of yours. Sounds like a no brainer.

Just rambling here ...

To varying degrees, I can sympathize with both sides. I also find more fault with one than the other, and you can guess away. As I said in an earlier post, I think that Matt is in a position to ship approximatley 80% of the order and leave the final 20% still to be hashed out. Depending on one's point-of-view, whether it be "taking the high road", or "cutting one's losses", or somewhere in between, I would advance the notion that it makes sense to reduce the volume of what is in dispute. Much in line with the "no-brainer" encouraged above. Unless its with your best smile, who thinks exposure on the front page here is all that beneficial anyway?

I did offer of all the cages but 2 eight footers on the table and we cover all the shipping so then she would be out any $$$ at all. Just like i have mentioned many many times you can feel free to contact my shipping company directly and pay them you don't have to pay me anything. Check your emails that has been stated

Matthew Martin

Kelly,
Just the wildest of speculation on my part, but I believe that any attorney would tell you to jump on that offer. It ain't about right or wrong, fair or unfair ...... just results.

This sounds like a fair deal to end this thread and both parties should be satisfied.

I agree take the offer and get this over with you. I'm sure neither of you will be thrilled but at least you have most of your cages, and Matt has most of his money.

I would be happy consider it if I knew the driving force behind pulling $1500+ worth of cages when the shipping quote he sent earlier this week was for around $1200 and why he should not "consider" what I posted above?

That is the information I need. If you can answer that question Matt, I would appreciate it.

Personally, I'd say just by the Emails and his responces that the driving force was money, or more of it. Just My impression from the start of this.

That being said, I'd still jump on the offer. You have waited a long time for this product, so why would you want to keep up this fiasco? As has been pointed out, there is fault to be had on both sides of this deal. Most fault lies on the seller IMHO, but none the less, this could end this ordeal. You'd have most of your cages, he'd have most of his money, and you both wouldn't have to look at each other anymore.

Seems like ending this situation be enough insentive to jump on the offer and be done with it. Unless you like the stress involved with such things, it just makes sense to get most of your product and move on. Not delay, and try to work out yet another deal involving these cages.

Rick

Alright Matt....you win. Send me the 2 8-footers without dividers, all the 4-footers and all the 6-footers.

When will you be shipping out these cages?

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OK fine if they are gonna work this out, then will Mat refund any difference made from the selling of the holdbacks.

Since he shouldn't be charging a storage fee> Secondly he shouldn't be charging a re-stocking fee as he never finished the project.

I am just still waiting to hear from Matt on when he will be shipping out the cages. Since I agreed to his last offer, I would like a date by which the cages will be shipped.

I highly doubt I will be seeing any refund at all. I paid $1530 for those 2 cages he will be holding back. I would like to see a refund of at least $300 considering that his quote for all the cages was $1400 through fedex, but his quote from last week was only $1200.

That is why I thought my suggestion was still quite reasonable. Holding back 1 8-footer for $765 and 1 6-footer for $455 for a total of $1220. Then there would be no refund, everything would be square and I would be terribly happy.

That is also why I asked for him to explain to me why he wanted to hold back 2 of the 8-footers. Because then that should greatly reduce the shipping.

What I would like to see is estimates for shipping all the cages vs. shipping all but 2 8-footers vs. shipping all but 1 8-footer and 1 6-footer. That would be awesome to find out.

So Matt, is this a normal occurrence for you with the high shipping price? I had ten 4 foot cages shipped to me through FedEx and it did not cost 10% of the price you were quoted, it seems you need to find a new shipping company.

I will have her last 4 cages worked on cage next week once we complete the current order and before any others started. I will then look into the shipping set it all up and then expect that she covers the shipping up to $800 and then split the difference with me on the shipping. If she can't afford the shipping then things need to be figured out.
You still have not finished her cages. You are going to work on a current order, but not an outstanding one that should have been completed months ago. What a great way to continue to drag out this whole fiasco, it certainly not her fault now. I am sure that those who have contemplated purchasing cages from you are not going to now after reading this.

Yea Matt why have you not posted? Kelly agrees and you abandon the thread? Lets get this over with already finish her cages and ship them out on tuesday!!!
