In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Mike Clark (serpentboy78)=BAD GUY!

I see you said " i asked if he intended on making good on his deal with david, and he said he did. i even offered to post a positive response for him if he made good on this deal. he screwed up in the past, and that wont go away. but how he conducts himself on this deal shows maturity and growth, or lack thereof
Why in the hell would you have ANYTHING positive to say about this guy??? I don't think it is wrong to say many, maybe even most of us want this guy out of business. We all want the people who got burned to be compensated, but if we say Hey Mike, just pay up and we will all forget about you breaking the law and ripping people off is not the way to get things back on track. To say he screwed up in the past is not saying much. This is extremely serious, you're talking about a guy who is putting lives at risk. Looking at what people have said about doing business with him tells me he is a scammer, liar, and criminal. I want nothing to do with him or anyone like him. Please do not defend or forgive him in any way. Something tells me if he does pay up, and you do post something positive about it, you will be standing alone. I have had my eye on this guy for a long while now and predicted he would somehow get himself in a position like this, and this is way more serious than I first thought. I am just trying to get you to see that he does not deserve any sympathy Dan, I am not trying to pick on you. He dug his own grave, let him lie in it. Tom Stevens

Agreed!

I was also hopeful to see David paid. I figure if Mike is going to pay it is already in the mail to him.

Whatever is said at this point about Mike will not have any bearing on David receiving payment.

you're right, dennis. i checked out his website and it states he still has hots for sale. according to his statements earlier on this thread, he no longer keeps hots, so either his website needs updating, or he's a liar.

and if he's still selling hots and utilizing other shipping agents other than delta dash, i was wrong, and i agree he should be run out of business forever.

He updated his site two days ago. So you can bet he is a liar.

Hello Dennis,

I understand your opinion and respect it, but I have no idea why you added the last comment? Did I do something to you? You seemed like a nice level headed person in your posts, so I just don't understand the snide remark towards me. If you have been to my site you would see the lengths I go through to educate people about pythons (its a python site). Im not a bad guy, I was just referring to the beginning when it all started, not the aftermath. And I agree with you whole heartedly about shipping hot snakes. Im sorry if I offended you somehow. It is not my intention to offend anyone. Please have a good night:)

Wrong!

Unfortunately this thread is just not about David and Mike anymore. I would have liked to see another thread started.

Mike Clark shipped a venomous illegally. Not once. This effects us all. If you cannot understand that, Sorry.

Maybe you should go back to asking for free snakes in the other forum.

Your right the last comment was not called for.
I apologize.

But I stand by the rest of the quote.

Dennis,

Sean started a new thread with the sole purpose of discussing illegal shipping of poisonous snakes. We need all the help we can get to try to expose those that are breaking the law as well as take a proactive approach as to how to protect ourselves as buyers. This thread can be found at:

Tim,

Not get off topic, but poisonous and venomous are considered synonymous. Below is the Merriam-Webster definition, as well as some references from well known Universities, Researchers and the “Florida Poison Center” (the list is endless). They all use the terms poisonous and non-poisonous snakes. They might all be wrong but... Not a big deal though, as we both know what we refer to when we use either term.

Best regards. :)

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

One entry found for poisonous.

Main Entry: poi•son•ous
Pronunciation: 'poiz-n&s, 'poi-z&n-&s
Function: adjective
1 : having the properties or effects of poison : VENOMOUS

Good info!

:>off_to<: If I can just sneak in one more off topic comment....

Thanks for posting those links. I learned something! I honestly didn't realize that either term could be used. I thought "poisonous" referred to something that was ingested (like a puffer fish or ammonia) and "venomous" referred to something that could be injected into your bloodstream. i.e., I have even explained to other people (while trying to define the difference between the two) that rattlesnakes are venomous but not poisonous, because while they can inject venom into you with a bite, you can still eat them without suffering ill effects!

I admit to being a traditionalist. I realize that "anti-venom" is now perfectly acceptable as well as "antivenin", but "anti-venom" still makes me cringe! Thank you for opening my mind a bit.

At least something postitive came out of this thread. :)

:smash: Hear! Hear! Order. Order.......

I'd like to think I'm schooled enough to offer some insight. Not to distract the thread, but just to elaborate on this point further.

In a nutshell, Ms Terese, you were right the first time. In the dictionary, poisonous and venomous are synonymous to the "laymen", and it is understood that these terms basically mean the same thing.

Technically, in an effort to assume political, and academic correctness(keywords), when someone has been poisoned, they have ingested or consumed poison orally, through respiration, or direct contact.

When someone has been envenomated, it has nothing to with any poison ingested. The victim was envenomoated with venom (fluid like liquid composing of enzymes and proteins), via bite or sting. Collectively, not all poisons are composed entirely of organic molecules. Venom always is.

A pufferfish cake is poisonous. If you ate Mike Clark, you'd probably die, because he's poisonous. King Cobras, however, are venomous, not poisonous....unless you have King Cobra w/ a side of Mike Clark, or used my Mike Clark to make a stock for sauces. THEN IT WOULD BE POISONOUS!!!! LOL (Hey, I'm trying to stay on topic-this is application)

There is still a great deal of literature published on the topic of poisonous snakes. We all know what they mean, but it isn't correct. This is one of those little pet peeves of mine. LOL. I still hear PhD's rambling off about phylogenetic relationships of "Poisonous" snakes. I'm like, "um....DOC"!

Now back to the topic. What are we going to do about Mike Clark? Be advised, I have already turned one person in to wildlife officials this week for illegal shipping (no joke)....and guess what, Mike Clark...?....?....?....? (ya get it…?-lol) ..?....?...? You're next..!.....!....!.....! I am also making the call to Texas Parks and Wildlife on your behalf, and I am alerting them to these threads. Don’t worry about it…they already know me. I was trying to be a nice guy earlier, and cut you some slack because I thought you were just a misguided idiot. You also have a cruelness about you that enjoys making people squirm. And so you shall also. Someone I know said, “Karmas got a way of coming back and returning”. It sure does Mike, doesn’t it? You do sell lies. The Community buys truth.

May your career and presence within the herp community crumble like a dry dog turd.

" If you ate Mike Clark, you'd probably die, "

Well, that certainly says something ! How do you really feel??? Yeah, the guy does seem to have a streak to him that I don't understand, most of the reptile trade people are fairly cool...bummer to run into his like...

Way to go Sean

As you mentioned...Someone I know said, “Karmas got a way of coming back and returning”. It sure does Mike, doesn’t it? You do sell lies. The Community buys truth
I only had words with Mike through emails about my personal gripe with him and it was irritating as hell but a friend of mine said Karma would get him. We're ready to raise a cold one and toast to the demise of this guy who simply did himself in through his own actions. I must say Sean, you are a good man. I am seriosuly impressed with you taking action and reporting people who threaten our hobby and even put peoples lives at risk. We all owe you one, thanks! Tom Stevens

I have also done a little calling around. I have also started posting Buyer Beware info on other boards.

Hey Dennis

Could you link us to some of the other message boards you're speaking of? I'd like to check them out. Thanks for spreading the word! Let's hope this starts a trend of doing the right thing to eliminate these types of people from our hobby, thanks Tom Stevens
