In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Funny how you skipped right over another poster that agreed with me.

BTW Kev, nobody posted anything about agreeing with you. You agreed with Mike. Nice spin you put on that one though. Makes it seem like I targeted you.

Chuck maybe you should look more closely at the post directly below mine - 234. It is the one just above yours also. The first line's got me somewhat confused. What do you think it means?

Take the blinders off bud.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the implications of this particular comment from "Webslaves Thorn":

thorn04.jpg

"Don't worry Kelli,
You are respected here and will always be protected."

Which certainly implies that people who are NOT respected by "Webslaves Thorn" have something to be worried about and will not be protected from *something* undefined. Could someone even remotely believe that a fake ID labelled as "Webslaves Thorn" would demonstrate any respect at all from the poster towards "WebSlave"? Wouldn't a "thorn" in this context connote an application of something painful to the recipient? With this implication of applied pain, and lacking this respect from "Webslaves Thorn", what would Webslave have to worry about and NOT have protection from?

Would any reasonable person not even remotely consider this as a threat? That this was intended to instill a sense of foreboding?

Kevin,

Was trying to point suspicion at Bob Woodard aka Griz for the Shrillomn ID also trying to "help the site"? I see it as trying to tarnish a good man's reputation (not to mention cowardly), but hey, that's just me.

Not a threat of a DDOS attack, IMO

That is the threat, to create a troll account using Richard's IP address.

I think he was implying that Kelli was safe from having her IP address used to create a fake ID. This was in response to her post, regarding his threat to Rick.

I think "Webslaves Thorn" was a name picked because creating so many troll accounts and using them until they were banned, just to create another one was a thorn in your side. I believe that it may show a lack of respect for you as an authority, but not necessarily as a person. Again, I don't think that was a threat towards you, or to instill a sense of foreboding. I think it was aimed at Rick, and anyone else who stood against "Webslave's Thorn."

How about someone who thinks Mike was only a tad mischevious, and knows where that line is drawn, explain to me the logic of their conclusion (as opposed to wishful thinking). All I've seen is wishful thinking. That and a dollar buys a cup of coffee. Thanks in advance.

I believe Columbo would have this all figured out by now. In the meantime, let me try looking for an answer where some others seem to be investigating.

I missed that post. It obviously means that one person does agree with your theory. I think you are both wrong about his intentions. You can see it as helpful or how ever you want, but I see it as clearly being spiteful.

I'm gonna keep the blinders on, Kev. I have a strong feeling you'll be posting more half ass theories.

No Jim, Shrillomn (Mike G) did a lot of things that were cowardly and offensive, and I apologize to Rich if it seemed I was trying to minimize the impact upon his site. He also lied afterward, you've made a solid case for that.

I am just not ready to throw in the towel. It would be nice if he would come back, take his lumps and put the speculation to bed.

If he did come back, how would you know that he was being truthful?

Not sure what Wes did to earn his most recent ban, but as he was the brunt of much of the alias' diatribes, unfairly I might add, and despite that I have never been Wes' buddy, I would like to submit my plug that Rich consider allowing Wes back, even if under an agreement to only post in this thread. He has a right to finally trash ... err face .... his accusor. I have stood side by side with Mike in many threads, often firing salvos at Wes, but as I scan the inside of my large colon, I found some graffitii that says "what goes around, comes around". Seems I found some crow feathers, that while they do not digest well, seem to function as good fiber !

Good Question.
And an easy one to answer. Rick is a member of Mike's forum. Since Mike is the admin there, he has access to everyone's IP addresses.

Apparently, he's not above using that info to the hurt of his membership.

I don't believe Mike's purpose was to disrupt this site. I think he was trying to point out flaws in the rules as he saw them. It could be argued that he was actually trying to help the site by showing the "error of it's ways". I agree with funkyres it's quite a stretch to go from that to an actual attack, which would have no purpose other than to bring down the site.

Hmm, I've noted some security flaws in the way that PayPal does their business. Based on the above, do you believe that it is OK if I scam some people to show PayPal how easy it is to do? Using a fake ID, of course......

I know of the flaws in the way registrations are done on this site. I also know there is basically nothing that can be done about it. Just as Mike, running his own vBulletin based sites, knows as well. I believe there was more to it than that.

Except, My IP changes all the time, according to the Firefox display I have on the status bar. Check for yourself. It's not even close to whats listed above, but I haven't changed service in quite a while.

But what Jay says is true. I am a member over there, though I'm not a regular.

I don't know why he was banned either but if he being the one that was drawing all the missile fire that were being directed at this site may have any role in the decision, consciously or not, it would be seem reasonable to me to commute his sentence to time served. I'm not questioning Rich's decision or his authority to ban him, I am only offering an unsolicited opinion with the best intentions. :iagree:

Now that Jim, I can agree with 100%

Sorry, but I disagree. Someone cannot use someone else's IP address unless they are at that terminal point to USE the equipment that generates that IP. You may be able to send a one shot and one way spoofed page, but you cannot engage in a bidirectional discourse. To spoof and IP you have to BE that IP.

I believe that quip was to just make Pez appear to be all knowing, when all it did was to narrow down the suspects.

Do you really believe Mike will come here to address Wes, "face to face"?

I don't.

It's easier than that.
Send someone a PM that includes a 1x1 transparent gif hosted on a server for which you have the logs to. Then look at your logs to see what IP address requested the image.

That is why many modern e-mail clients (IE Thunderbird) will by default not load images in e-mail that are hosted on a remote server.

Then just allow him back because its the right thing to do. He's spent enough well deserved time in your dog house. Release the hound!
